Here is Cyne's counter-attack, mustering to my Northeast.
After bumping into his Knight in the city I just destroyed, I expected to see more of them. I suppose he just landed Guilds the turn prior to the sacking, bought the Knight promotion, and hasn't had a chance to manually build any extras.
I have my two triremes lurking in the area & a third moving up. If I understand this right: He could load his 2-movers into a boat, move the boat to my coast (but not within range of a city) and unload, all in one turn? I have moved up my catapults and can use them to soften up a 4-party Knight invasion force.
NPS to my Southwest has been warring against Springfield to my Southeast. I believe a city just out of view got sacked because there is a gap where I think there used to be enemy culture, now open for me to settle.
A B & C all can work the Sheep and Hastings' corn. A can claim the Clams with 2nd ring culture. The Springfieldian city adjacent is on its third ring. Next time I log in I will take a close look at the city to see what sort of cultural buildings its putting out, but if NPS takes the city I believe all that Springfield culture will evaporate?
A & C get the sheep in first ring
B & C get hill defense bonus against naval assault
A & B have cottages in the area to run (and better overall terrain)
Cyne doesn't have visibility this far south so, my inclination is, settle A, hope he doesn't Boat it, hit it with a Missionary, and grab the clams.
(Looking at this screenshot, I notice I'm working un-improved tiles, ick! I gotta micro what few workers I've got better)
This turn I landed Feudalism, bought 1 Longbow in a border city that Cyne has visibility on. Running 0% for a turn so I can afford a second and bluff that my defense is better than it really is. Then onto Engineering for pikes and road movement.
