Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

Molach destroys Willem and the Celts[SPOILERS!]

Very much thanks for input!

Point about warriors is true, I will have copper connected quickly-ish.

I am the guy with highest power, however I am now working a 4-size capital (at least two other have that) and there are 'almost' 4 improved tiles, so maybe it was the right call to grow. Forest ivory is same as grassland hill mine. A mine would not be ideal thing to make this early, but ivory is free, so I guess it's okay?

People are either suddenly very lucky with techs from huts, nope, or are plopping down their second cities now. I think the guys with 7F turn 4 might have been faster off the bat than me. Or with fishing starts, early workboat is early in this mod.

"Late 2nd city" will of course be next city.

It would seem that 15% of the players end up being last to end turn 90% of the time.
I cant imagine why they can't log on and finish sooner in this early game period. Turns should take 5 minutes tops to play out, given a little extra time for planning now and then when they have the time.

If they literaly can only log in and play in a 2-hour window every 24 hour, what will they do when getting into a turnsplit? And when turns take longer? Why even sign up....

Disappointed.

There is only one solution for this. And I don't mean extending the turn timer. hammer

Indeed!

But I don't border any of them. Ichabod and Adrien play regularly.

I am seriously thinking about early iron working after pottery. It will free up two jungled hill gold mines, which is worth a bit. Then masonry, and gaellic warrior rush someone. Duns + barracks + gaellic are pretty awesome...assaulting hill cities with +hill combat and 50% withdraw should almost be cost-effective.

Time for an update.
My scout has taken a tour northwards, gaining combat 1 on the way. Ichabod-Retep borders to the north.

This is his second city, pretty new. He is improving his copper for now with two workers, guess the pig follows soon. Ish.

My south, had my 2nd city warrior garrison take a peek from a forested hill:

Guess he will take a wolf-hit for the team. If he suffers very low damage, might have him kill that lion on defense as well, gain enough exp for a promo. But he is out of position to cover 2nd city...Adrien could walk in from the west here and raze the city. In about 4 turns I can emergency whip a defender, so I wonder if I should just let my warrior spawnbust the SE here for now, and accept thepotential city loss with a happy smile and eternal war.

Aaaand next city location.

Probably not the best overlap long term. But, horses! Gold! Food galore! City will only receive one worker in attendence, so it steals capital food for quick growth, chop/whips a granary while tiles get improved, and once borders pop gets all the food in the world online. Nice settler/worker pump then, monster commerce down the line.

I put the overflow from my settler whip into a new settler for 1 turn (33 hammers in it) then put capital on a warrior while growing to size 3. Slowbuilding a settler after that (can't grow to size 4 without garrison, and no real need as 3rd city takes away a food anyway).

My second city gets farm online next turn, then will get mine, cow and gold online, in that order, just as new pop is available to work the tiles. I was thinking granary, but not sure I need it if I just wanna grow into good tiles and make some military while growing and workers when it's grown. I'll check my sims, and see if it is better to chop it in after border pop or something

Oh, and in 2 turns I need a new tech. Iron working for gold looks fun to me. I don't wanna produce Gaelics without a dun+barrack city, but 2 jungled gold is a nice bit of +commerce per turn, especially for a FIN leader. I know standard play is getting to currency fast as hell, but I really would like to just go smash someone with a guerilla force

Had to catch the train.
on mobile now.

Workers will finish the farm, make sure 2nd city works it.
Scout can scout. Make sensible move, northwestwards. More west then north if choice. End in cover.

Warrior outside southern new city should retreat if heavily damaged by wolf AND lion moved next to him. Otherwise stay put.

Cheers.

Aha, turn 43!

Since this will be the age I attain upon my next birthday, time for an Update!

My lands:

AT warrior came visiting, appeared to the SW, skirted "late 2nd city" and appears to be heading into the sunset again. I can't really decide where I want to expand next, but it seems I have a little time to decide.

My brave scout ended turn next to a barb warrior. Nearly won, but instead died around here, west of Ichabodland:

Capital:

Working the 2/1 tile over 1/4/1 for growth. Will switch to worker after it grows, then whip when able. Probably finish the spear, maybe another worker, then moar settlers. 2nd city can soon take up some worker/settler duty too.

2nd city:

Haven't chopped granary because no trees, and not able to whip yet. However, this city grows just in time for the improvements, so think just slowbuilding it works just as well. Cow finishes next turn, then worker hops over to the gold. And after that, the jungle gold hill is next. This city might produce a worker before it's library time too. Spearman is in queue because AT had a warrior near, so I had to make the spear whippable.

3rd city:

Founded this turn. Stole capital wheat, that bastard. Forest SE will be chopped in 3. Then I road, because it only costs 1 worker turn near-term, gains the +1c trade route and probably saves worker time later on. Also strategical. Also I will instantly whip THIS granary at size 2, so not _that_ big a hurry to finish the pig tile. This city can whip out a library too, so perhaps 1 worker is enough to keep up here.

---
My research went wheel - agriculture - animal husbandry - pottery - and now (7) on iron working. Iron working will give a significant boost, and grassland hill gold with the 1 extra food to boot are pretty amazing tiles.

Oracle and Stonehenge have been built. Also, since Adrien got a big surge of culture, I can only assume he got one of the early religions.

Demos:

Yay food. And next turn second city grows into improved cow, and capital can work the ivory for some nice hammers. Perhaps I'll even lead then.

Graphs on Adrien and Ichabod:
Food:
Damn screenshot didn't take. I'm doing more well in food than the other 2. Yay. I'll get AT graphs in 5 turns or so, I'll put in new ones then.

Still no AT graph.

No exploration going on, I've got 3 warriors and 3 workers and 3 cities. One warrior fogspawnbusts to my NE, rest are garrisons in outlying cities. Both 1st and 2nd city can quickly build/whip a defensive unit if need be. I'm juggling tiles between my cities and basically trying to work as good tiles as possible at all times.

Capital:

Will grow to 4 and finish a spear in 3 turns (will give plains wheat back to 3rd next turn), then finish the settler (settler got overflow from my last worker whip, why he is in queue). City will likely go down SE, get a chop into granary and improved rice as birthgifts, then fend for itself. Slowbuild a workboat when borders popped and I have time to grab fishing.

Could also go NE towards Ichabod, he is having some time issues, so would make a good target PYFT-wise.

2nd city, very late of course:

Next turn it must sadly give back ivory and work something unimproved for a turn, before the gold gets online. Curses. After that, resident worker will walk over to junglegrasslandhillsgold and unjunglify and goldminate it. Next build an obvious worker for 3rd/4th city. Put a turn of hammers into the spear, even if it is in no hurry just yet. City will get a library as soon as tech is in by chop, whips, blood, sweat, toil and tears.

3rd city:

Hit 30/60 on the granary just as size 2 happened. So well-timed whip, and granary is up. One turn of working pig will not hinder growth to 2. (But likely 3, but thats beside the point). Next turn gets grain back. I think an axeman while growing will be fine. City will be whipped whenever it happens to grow into unimprovization

Demos:

Still okay in food and MfG, but of course chop/whips don't show up here.

Defense:

Barbs closing in...barb warrior NW is a bit of a worry, I've plans for a worker to improve this city...maybe I need to send a spear up there.

Whee, look at pretty pictures.
Capital area.

Cottage will go unused one turn before growth, but will start giving after that. Got a settler in queue, will finish 5 turns after the growth/spear. Unless I chop something to speed it up.

2nd city.

Yeah, ugly to work that Phill for a turn. Next turn gold is ready. Worker is needed, and no need to grow until jungold is opened. 7 turns from now? I dunno. City will do worker - spear - axe (if time) library depending on some things. Nice hammers here, but better commerce due to gold. Will get library, but might grab dun/barracks/military after. Hybrid the city for a while.

3rd city area - no sign of enemy barb warrior now.

And city grows when pigs are done. Actually one turn late, so capital can have the amazing grain back for a turn. Spearman in queue, 3 turns build time.

New city area.

Or maybe not. But this area is rich, and securing this land to the south might be important in making a firm front vs. Adrien.

First a city that will eventually work fish, then another one for fur after. Where to found fur city is of course not obvious. I could make an eventual Moaiable city, one coastal but not excessively so, or on the mountain where sign currently is. This area isn't scouted yet, so spot may and will change. But when this fur eventually comes online, all core cities should be able to grow a size onto a cottage so it should be one of those "basically free" plants.

Demographs:

Slightly worse. Damn, why can't the others stagnate just a bit so I can catch up. If only.

With AT's graphs available, the great ™ graph dump.
GNP:

....can't wait for the gold to help out here.

Crop yield:

AT has 3 cities, as do I, but neither Adrien or Ichabod has yet. Maybe they are massively chopping and will get 3rd and 4th in row.

MfG:

Power:

Well I have some power in 2 nearly-completed spears, so no worry here.

Culture:

Proving that Adrien has religion. And since HAK has revolted into buddhism, he and soon I shall become hindu. (By spread, not conquest).

Techs: Library next. Or writing, it is called by some. Fishing soonish, workboat scout to see if I need sailing for offshore Island. I also want MASONRY, so I can build a DUN and BARRACKS somewhere and start producing some Gaelics. Masonry also helps with monotheism, which I want once I get me some Hinduism. But very likely need to grab math-currency before mono. Must check. Stuff.
