I dunno. The more I think in details, the less I like my chances. Tech rate is ok, I should be able to cpmplete Philo/Nationalism in 8T from now. Building Taj is a problem. I don't have any monster production city at this point, the best one gives 30 hpt and the forests are gone long time ago. With some overflow, I build it in 8T. Chopping ivory shaves 1 turn, maybe I will find a few missing hammers and shave another one, but 6T is the absolute minimum and it's still not certain. Doesn't sound like enough frown

The problem is that Taj route includes a clear warning signal - Taoism. I dunno what would have to happen, that TBS seeing Taoism falling, didn't fire GA and hire billlion of scientists. Great engineer makes the difference in this situation.

I also had a crazy idea to wait for TBS with Philosophy almost completed and switch tech on when I see Taoism falling. There is a chance, that TBS not seeing a competition along Philo line becomes greedy and chosses to spare his engineer and build Taj using his IND trait lol

I dunno.

I finally decided to tech Nationalism at full throttle and see how TBS responds. He fired GA, as expected, adapted Bureau, but not Caste System. I think he gave it up, cause his research last turn was set to Compas. I'm really curious what is the reason. Whether I overestimated his economic potential to chase me to Nationalism or he already used his Engineer for something else.

I have to say, that Scipio is doing a pretty good job, defending against TBS. He didn't expand well, but at least he is building units. Looking at the power graph, he keeps with all of the pack, even having 3 times less cities than the frontrunners. If we deduct pop, tech, buildings like forges, Moai, it turns out that Scipio has a second army most of the time. Even if he falls, it will not be an easy conquest for TBS, cause Scipio is whipping, chopping and TBS needs to go with a slow stack. I already gave Scipio some happyness to encourage more whipping and I'm planning to give him some cats. It will not improve my relations with TBS, of course, but if I want to win this game, we will not be friends, either way.

TBS main army on the same tile, where my scout is. As you can see, I also had a small riding party on my way to test TBS's defences in his Moai city, if he converted to Caste, but I am more than happy to take it back home. Without Caste it will be really difficult for him to compete for Taj.

Scipio's army that I see, most of them close to Nighwish.

Some other news - it seems to me, that GJ traded 1050 gold for 135 gpt to Tsargon. Nice deal, but some risk is involved. I wonder what Tsargon needs that money for crazyeye

Edit: Ok, it was a bug, so it is only a single trade, not 3 of them.

I have read through the thread. Nice! popcorn

What is the mod? Where to download it? Is it ToW 1.3 or 1.4?

The general idea of my eco is to maximize research in my capital and run as high slider as I can, thanks to holy city, ziggurats, wealth build, failgold. That is why I emphasize hammers very much (I generally like to play heavy-hammer games smile) and I was not planning to build many gold multiplier buildings. I was also not planning to build any more cottages, other than 2 in my capital (convert 2 grass mines into cottages, but after Oxford completed). The most remaining uninproved tiles were supposed to be workshops. These grass workshops will be 1F/5H tiles after Chemistry. It is not that far away, if we complete Taj.

At this point, I don't think anyone can take Taj from us. It is 8T build normally, but can be reduced to 6T if needed (chopping forest on ivory and whipping pre-built ziggurat on T127). You will have tech visibility on all contenders, so it shouldn't be difficult to decide.

The general plan was to rush forward as much as I can to build significant tech advantage over my opponents. After Taj GA I was planning to launch at least 1 more GA, maybe 2 more. My estimation is that we need rifles / astro / chemistry to kill wetbandit or Dreylin. Some other important techs: paper (Sancore ~ 60 bpt), education (Oxford is very important in this strategy!), Divine Right (Minaret - way better than Sancore for us).

TBS-Scipio theater. I have not ended the turn, cause there is one thing I want to discuss with you already. I have 3 galleys full of units and 2 triremes in this region. If you want to actively disturb TBS in his war effort we can push them south-east. My thinking about it is descibed in the previous post.

City overview and some other screens in 2 hours or so...

Cities (updated):

My crappy 7-pop former capital. It is the only city, that doesn't have a granary or is not building one lol Always busy to build something. There is a ziggurat in a queue, but change to Taj next turn. After Taj, I would build Sancore here.

Maaluuk. My new, almost 18-pop capital smile It gradually takes tiles from other cities. I was planning to convert 2 remaining mines into cottages after Oxford.
[Image: Civ4ScreenShot0593%20mdash%20kopia%20mda...roctak.jpg]

TBH, I am not a fan of this location for Moai and Colossus, but the timing was decisive here. There was a moment when I really needed that 500 failgold to secure MoM and reach currency before my eco crashed and it was the only spot that could build it soon enough. It also has Hagia Sophia (I wasn't reporting it). I was planning to tech Paper after Nationalism and start building Sancore here for failgold (and complete it in Druaa). The next GPP is comming from here, but I has free GPP points from wonders and some food surplus, so I was planning to generate at least 1 more here.

Universal city, 3 more workshops to come, gradually giving away tiles to Litra IV and working water. Doesn't have many good tiles, so planned for heavy drafting.
[Image: Civ4ScreenShot0595%20mdash%20kopia_zps2itrblhh.jpg]

Very similar situation here.
[Image: Civ4ScreenShot0602%20mdash%20kopia_zpsnxda1iem.jpg]

That is actually pretty ok commercial city, but I thought it is not worth to cottage those remaining tiles. More hammers! smile
[Image: Civ4ScreenShot0596%20mdash%20kopia_zpsier8wvgm.jpg]

Capital cottage helper, that is running out of tiles. Destined for GPP generation and drafting.
[Image: Civ4ScreenShot0601%20mdash%20kopia_zpst4nefzfb.jpg]

Quinarra is the "capital" of the southern island smile It has MoM, so good sentry is required around it.

It would be way better Moai, but it wasn't ready soon enough. Some slave for drafting / building wealth perheps.

I still don't have a decision on the Epics spots, so it may be a candidate for either one.

Another candidate for Epics, when it takes clam and Scipio culture disappears.

One of the twin brothers. It is actually a great city and should be grown asap. These plains when farmed are very good tiles during GA. We also need chain irrigation for 2 fillers I was planning to settle east of Archon Tau and Archon Ren.

Second twin brother.

Front city with Dreylin. Can be anything you want with these grasslands - production, GPP. Remember - 1F/5H workshops after chemistry wink
[Image: Civ4ScreenShot0607_zpsmgka0tjt.jpg]

Inner filler, gradually takes tiles from coastal cities
[Image: Civ4ScreenShot0609_zpspkypq29q.jpg]

Another production city, banana next turn.

This is the city, I settled because of strategic reasons. First it gives me the control over the passege, then it can be used to launch an offensive on this island - units can be unloaded into the city and advance next to wetbandit's city.

The last one I settled when I saw that Jowy is not rushing in this direction. Big production potential actually.

2 more fillers are planned east of twin brothers. They were supposed to be drafting posts, when you improve the rice and lead chain irrigation.

I see 1 trireme of TBS, has he a bigger navy? Maybe try to raze Metallica first? Scipio is pillaging his own land. hammer Did Scipio pull his stack out of Nightwish? What are Scipio's triremes doing, are they blocking the passage or moving SE?

I havn't seen more than 1 trireme from TBS. I dont know what Scipio is up to with his fleet, but my guess is that if you advance, he will do the same. I can move the fleet forward this turn and you can still make a call nex turn.

As far as I can tell, Scipio withdrawn horses and left 8 melee behind the walls.
