PB32 - MONSTER HUNTERS

In PB32, here be monsters. You've just graduated from Monster Hunter school, with wide-eyed dreams of becoming like your hero, that guy who says "Clever girl." in Jurassic Park, and you've just gotten your first assignment from Monster Hunters Incorporated: make camp at on this crazy torus world and capture as many monsters as you can! (and also build a Civilization to stand the test of time, and all that jazz).

You can capture a monster by expanding your culture over it, simple as that. On turns 5, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, 200, and 300, you're asked to post an overview shot of your civ so that we can count how many monsters you control. This info will be posted on the TopMonsterHunter.com, for all your competitors to see. And look, here's your first monster now:

Which is the monster? Both the fortresses sheep and lake whale stand out as odd to me, and could thereby qualify, but to Brick that deer is the true monster so that could be it, too. Or maybe me mentioning the Brick/Deer thing One More Time makes me the monster, in which case we're probably one up on the field already! woot woot

Ha, I didn't see the sign when I read that post from my phone. Looks more like an Ahab than a Godzilla to me. :P

Unfortunately, it turns out there's only so many named, non-god, animal-based and specifically fur/horse/elephant/cow/sheep/pig monsters in legends, myths, and fiction, so I may have had to... make a few compromises.

I don't get a vote, but Shaka sounds fun.

In 2.0.7.6 Vikings don't get the kind of unfair but awesome trading post effects (free Navigation I on units). Instead it's a 25% discount on building water units. So I guess that means we can send an armada at someone instead of a smaller navy that gets there faster. AGG is good because who doesn't like lots of AGG 'zerkers coming off cheap galleys?

Early game plan, probably dependent upon the map and how much coastline there is, where people are, etc., but this is fun:

Beeline Machinery/Civil Service (you can work out the bulb plan, Brick, I'm not into that kind of detailed planning ) as soon as is practical, and then sail forth and prey on the weak. If you haven't read it yet maybe have a look at the PB30 game where OT4E and 2metraninja are basically

playing Viking and attacking the entire world. There are some fun lessons there, and some things to avoid as well, notably how to completely wreck an economy. But hey, pirates, live for the moment, etc.

I would say keep Shaka, but it's your call. I'm just here to call for blood.
