Why the game was randomly paused? I have a new laptop with apple keyboard, so no pause key. I tried to plug in external keyboard, which I happened to have, but the key does not work properly for some reason, tries to adjust brightness instead (Windows 10). I am too tired now to deal with this, you'll need to wait for about 10 hours more. Not MY fault.
(And if anyone has any tips how to make pause key work - welcome.)

I once played Civ on an laptop without a pause key. What I did is to use the onscreen keyboard from Windows, that worked. Of course I also had to play the game in window mode when I wanted to pause, because otherwise you don't see the keyboard.
