Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[SPOILERS] Laconic plakonic

Quiet turns lately. Internationally there are just couple of Active wars ongoing i.e. Bigger cleaning up Azza and Ichabod-WilliamLP skirmish. Domestically I've been accumulating gold while waiting for Oxford Coming up. I'll have enough to generate close to 20000 beakers for the coming 12T. That probably means Steel-Music-MilTra and RepParts. Rifling shouldn't be too far to be finished. I've also been mostly in peaceful builds and drafted couple of units here and there, but that will change when current builds are finished. Goal is to blitz through Bacchus with Cavalry based army supported by few rifles and Cannons. Other goal is to keep my shores safe that will mean building a lot of Frigates. I might had to take also MilSci in case Mackoti does seem threatening. He has had couple of Privateers circling around my borders. I've allowed that while showing I've Frigates in the area. Privateers has behaved so I don't plan to hunt them down.

How long/how difficult do you anticipate a conquest of Bacchus to take based on information you have now?

Should be relatively easy. I don't think he can field anything better than Knights+Muskets at that time.

Something I wanted to ask you if you had time.

Was there anything I could have done to avoid the early conflict that saw me lose a city and you plant the city of Vantage right on my doorstep, forcing me to expand solely northwards into an indefensible jungle?

Defending with warriors against chariots is always an impossible situation, so I know that it was nothing I did wrong in the war, just the events leading up to it. I just went back and checked, and I took over from Serdoa on turn 60. At that point, we had a few warriors, but no copper anywhere except for at the sheep location that you pinkdotted. No Iron Working, and no Archery.

Our war happened on turn 66.

This was the situation a few turns before the war - you can see what my overall plan was with that sub-par city plant early in the game - to act as a bridge to the only copper for miles.

Pindicooter giving up? pindicator writing to the lukrer thread and there was big trade of points from them towards Mackoti. I really hope my read on this is not right. Very disappointing, if it is. They were clearly winning at the moment.

Pindicator stepped down, but Scooter is playing on.
If you know what I mean.

thx. Zakalwe good to know.

Dhalphir. There was very little you could do before the 1st attack. The timing just was very unfortunate for you and Serdoa had made the mistakes. I had just got the horses hooked up and spotted your weakness against Chariots.

I don't like how you positioned your copper city though. It wouldn't have mattered much concerning its survivability, but to make it worthwhile you should have moved so that it would have claimed also cows in the center region.

Here are some random points concerning later times I spotted that could have been done better:
* You never adopted Vassalage. You would still be in the game if you would have done it early. I wouldn't have been able to capture the last city, if bulk of your forces were CGI or guerilla promoted in your last stand city
* You wasted cats. They are crucial element in active defense. Without them your units were just sitting ducks in the cities/defensive terrain. If you would have preserved and built 15-20 of them I wouldn't have been able to proceed easily
* No HBR - You should have taken this early a stack of HAs could have made it way harder to defend my border and captured cities and flanking damage might have been useful
* Total whitdrawal. It makes sense to leave 1-2 units behind on places where they will delay attacker. These typically are cities and defensive terrains where I would had to go through your units to get through fast.

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it smile

Scooter declared on Bigger that will be in very tough spot. Lost already 2 cities. At least Bigger is spiritual so should be converting to Slavery and has access to Musket's. Bigger seems to have been heading towards Rilfes (bad idea in his current situation). Not sure Muskets are enough to stop amphibious Grenadiers that probably include quite a few veterans and obvivously also they're Aggressive when upgraded from Berserks. He has nothing to challenge Scooter in the sea. I'm considering if I should try to get some spoils too, but my western front has very little boats. Of course I couls also offer gold against island cities the same way I got cities from Azza.

This will soon be in a position where we need a dogpile against Vikings to prevent them from running away
