I should have quit when you offered me an out early in the game. If i had known just how bad things were I think I would have -- but then again, maybe I wouldn't since one reason I didn't quit then was because I didn't want to ruin the game for everyone else.

Can't say I agree that I'm hamstringing other players here. Fighting on to the bitter end would have caused more whips and more hammers lost by Commodore.

Honestly the only person I feel like I acted like a duck to this game was 2metraninja. Burning his capital like I did, throwing away my entire army just because I was upset at a mistake I made in not burning his iron city? (And partly because I was fighting a war I didn't believe in, also my fault.) I ruined his game; if you want to put me in the wrong for something it's that IMO.

Since all my units were down at his border anyway it seemed like a twisted way of letting him take some land back.

In case it wasn't clear, every unit has been deleted. If they want the spectacle of someone playing out meaningless turns then you'll need to do a reset.

I don't know why this reload is just making me more angry at the situation but for some reason it is. I think it's something along the lines of "you guys are going to shovel this shit map at me for months and then tell me I can't even quit the way I want to?" But it still doesn't seem rational -- if I'm out why should I care? Maybe I got attached to the little guy in all this time, my very own stockholm syndrome.

But at the same time I didn't consider how other people would react to my actions either. I just thought they'd be able to take cities with ease and that would make it go away all the faster. Didn't think they'd see it as spiteful and that's really stupid that I didn't -- spite whipping to prevent other people from using population has been done and done before.

So if I do end of playing on ... and if I don't, for whomever takes over:

All the units are down by 2metraninja. And I mean ALL of the units. There's literally nothing by TBS or Commodore -- this was by design, because I had always planned on just conceding when I got invaded from the north. Figured in my state I just had to gamble that they wouldn't attack. So I figure there are 2 main options:

1) Retreat to Sicily. Keep your units intact, shuttle as many things as possible southward. Congratulations, you just bought yourself 50 turns of hitting enter until someone comes back to finish the job.

2) Send everything northward and try to hold the line at Bush. Hope that TBS and Commodore end up fighting over Drumpf and keep all your triremes south to dissuade 2metraninja from attacking. You're fighting to keep 3 cities which are all kind of marginal (all the good stuff is in the north which really calls into question my defensive priorities, but I've been playing casually since I realized I was boned anyway). I may just do this because as an added bonus you get to die faster if/when you get overwhelmed.

GG first of all. And congrats for trying out something that bold as oversea HA attack. I am truly amazed by the amount of work and planning you put in. Sorry it did not worked the way you was hoping.

Turn 122

So yeah, ever since 2metra closed borders with us, he's done 2 things: Stock up gold and always play after me. He is last to play quite often and now we've had to wait for him to play last on the second go round because he no longer is playing both sides of the turn, which he had been doing pretty consistently. It was tempting to try and game it in response, but I won't go down the low road, as tempting as it is.

Instead, I just decided to go in:




You can see he's even had galleys prepared for a naval invasion. So no, I dont' think it's a coincidence that he just stopped playing the turn's quickly. Guy's a dick and deserves to be left with a shell of a civ and forced to play out the turns.

I just happen to be in the position to do that to him.

And second thing - maybe I am missing something in general here. I do not know what I did to deserve you calling me a dick (well, still better than "рussy") but I had plan to take this island city of yours and even since I made up my mind about attacking you, I started to maintain a turn order with you, i.e. playing after you. Isn't this what I am supposed to do by the RB honor code of behavior?

If people are being competitive then they're kind of going to be dicks to each other, so please don't take that personally. Later on I call myself a dick for burning your capital. I did think you were camping the turn timer in response to me prepping for war, which had me a bit tilted -- tilted enough to not burn your iron city and completely mess up the war!
