Slaze sent us a message and Kathlete has canceled their NAP, but cool down period ends at turn 155. He also feared Whosit will attack him soonish.

Couple of turns ago we made a deal with Kathlete I deliver wine until T140 and he gave us 40 gold.

We're also getting 2 Horse Archers from Spullla against 130 gold.

This HRE+Rome defensive pact annoys me big time, although once and for all they're not probably trying to lie us anymore. Nakor has numerous times said totally opposite things about their relationship with Whosit e.g. just 4 days ago they sent this:
Quote:We heard that Rome was talking to Romali, so we don't know what to expect from him. We're going to build a lot of military to try and stay safe.

I naturally didn't belive them anymore but why bother to do this?

The big nations with lot of land will soon surpass our GLH fueled economy. It might be a time to try something out or die while doing it. I'm seriously considering to attack Whosit turn 150-160 especially if I can get Dantski to keep HRE busy and/or slaze to attack Whosit.

btw. Do you know why Istanbul's cultural borders look very strange? Why is the tile 2N-1W from the center under Ottoman culture, but not 3N?

Culture can only extend across water 2 tiles, I believe

Exactly, you can't control ocean (or another island) tile that would not be inside the BFC of a possible city from the same landmass.

Message from Killer Angels:
Quote:Dear Broker and plako,

We had the exact same impressions as you about the announcement from Whosit and Nakor, that they were essentially tearing up their previous treaties. Pretty distateful! We really don't like the notion of teams signing NAPs that they have no intention of honoring. Nakor lied to us earlier in the game and said that he was worried about an attack from Whosit. That was totally false; I think it's clear that they are working very closely together. Don't believe anything they say otherwise!

To get back to your very important topic on attacking Whosit... Speaker's advice is that you should try to team up with Dantski to attack Nakor (hopefully splitting up Holy Rome and each taking some cities) but that it would not be a good idea to attack Whosit right now. You can't really attack Aggressive Rome successfully without having maces. However, you guys should be able to defend your capital from attack using a mixture of hwachas and crossbows.

Basically, go aggressive against Nakor and try to stand on the defensive against Whosit. Just make sure that you and Dantski are in agreement and have a clear plan before doing anything, because either of you will probably lose singly if you don't work together!

I'd also definitely get in touch with slaze. He emailed us yesterday and believes that he is going to be attacked by Whosit and Kathlete in the near future. It sounds like he would love some assistance on your end, and could make a very easy ally!

This makes sense, but how to do this in timely manner is another question. I think I would like to hit the latest city of Whosit, before he takes cultural control over the hill tile where our axe sits currently. After that we could concentrate on defense against Whosit and if feasible attack HRE and just hope that Jowy/Kathlete leave us alone or are busy elsewhere. Getting Slaze to on our side would also be very important, but he hasn't responded to my message I sent him couple of days ago.

In best case scenario we can get X-bows ~145 and Maces ~157 assuming that we research almost useless alpha and bulb the Civil Service. Our main problems are terrible production and spreading of our cities to quite wide area that makes them vulnerable for naval attacks, especially if Jowy/Kathlete decides to attack. I'll need to do some calculations what kind of numbers are needed for defending ourselves and then to attack.

I think realistically we can get ~1000 hammers for military production over the next 20 turns. We can do with 2 galleys, but we probably need ~5 triremes that consumes ~250 hammers. On main land we need ~5 Hwacha's + ~15 other units that alone requires way over 500 hammers that would leave only ~200 hammers to defend our islands. That is very thin. This basically means we can't be attacking. Even defending is challenging enough. Only exception is the Whosit's closest city that we might be able to attack, if he leaves it vulnerable after T150.

I noticed couple of things through civstats. Dantski probably planted and gifted a city to Kathlete and Whosit and Athlete were logged in simultaneously for a long time in the game. Latter is alarming although they might have other targets, but over the long run we can't manage if all of our neighbours are hostile.

Latest screencap. Dantski told he had made a deal gold for Settler.

How many turns before you loose control of that hill tile?
