Yes. Bonus to amphibious attack. Also in RL. wink

Don't need a state religion to build missionaries. wink Deciding between Hindu or going for Christianity now.

Also deciding if I can win this and if I can, if I want to bother.

my opinion counts worth a soggy waffle, but I'd be disappointed if you mailed it in so early. you're not the only one running out of land, you know...

Your opinion is worth a most excellent stack of crisp waffles! However, waffles are short term and less fun coming up than going down. And fighting a naval war against competent Vikings is probably the most vomit-inductively unpleasant thing in this game.

Don't worry though, I'm having fun, mailing it in isn't in the cards either way...

The guy who has made a living with Reg "oar" rawr's Flotilla in recent games can't get dejected immediately over Viking +navigation. nono

Fight, fight, fight, even when it sucks. Else my logins in other games would be much shorter. FIGHT!

I'm well aware. It's fun to be the pitcher...

..but I'd rather not be the catcher.

'aight, here's my sticky wicket. I have to decide within the next five turns to chase Theology and my own religion or just spread around Hinduism. I love the religion minigame; I think I'd really enjoy playing with the Monk Economy. However, that would not be the optimal choice. Hinduism is currently under TBS control; so either Pindicooter crossing the pond or dtay (who just built the Great Library) via land will own it. But that's not really a big deal. I guess the holy city is even razable, really.

It's kind of a larger point however. I have two possible paths open to me right now:
Winning, which means I have to have:
-A secure healthy core
-Subdued neighbors
-Extensive lands
Sandcastle time means I have to have::
-Whatever seems fun
-Whatever I enjoy for stories/projects
-Enough of a scientific and industrial base to pursue that fun

I'm pretty much set up for the later. The former is a ton of work. Please don't tell me I can avoid fighting them; anything like expanding west or east means I'm spreading out *more* for naval combat with 6 or 7 move galleons. My core, such as it is, is the least narrow prospect I have besides moving south. And, um, fellahs, this ain't it. Knights would work...if I could get them a dozen turns before Pindicooter do. Likely? shakehead

Meanwhile, just keep building. I need a good solid base no matter what, so I'm aiming to grow this capital ridiculously tall. How early can I hit size twenty? I've got the health cap already should I just hook my food up via roads. And happy? That's what archers are for. nod

You want to try to win in at least one of your games though right?

I'm just going to embrace cognitive dissonance a sail on. Check out this other side! Grass sure is green over here.

Saskatoon is getting prepped; settler will be chopped the turn Toronto's borders pop and the next turn Saskatoon is settled, with workers already hastening to hook the wines. It's not much of a city, but it will be a royal doozy of a wonder if I want. I might consider chopping in the AP here, or something similarly cultureish.

My farmer's peninsula is sitting pretty in the near east, naked and rich. I'll need a couple more workers shifted over here but that's not a big deal; these mighty forests are going to be simple granaries, lighthouses, libraries, and so on.

Early sexy wonders are gone. Ask me about Notre Dame in 40+ turns.

Well that's not surprising news. That is depressing news.

Slightly less depressing was Hinduism hitting Baffin, I was wondering how I'd pop borders. I think I'm going to be beelining Nationalism, timed to get Taj with the GE from the capital. So I guess we're Hindu, guys.
