Square Leg is Garrim Gyrrrrrrr - An Angry Dwarf

So a great engineer will bulb 1000+(2*city pop) beakers on normal so thats (1000+(2*city pop))*0.67 on quick. Basically, about 687ish. Engineering costs 1600*1.25 (Immortal)*1.3 (Standard Map) * 0.67 (quick speed) = 1742 beakers... urgh... So even 2 engineers aren't quite enough.

Engineering is a pretty big tech and bulbing it is going to be really difficult to time. If I am willing to use two GE's on the bulb then it is possible though. The first one will come 23t after I fire my world spell. The next will come 45t after that unless I revolt to pacifism, in which case it would be sooner. So 23+45= 68t to get my 2 GE's required to bulb ~1374 beakers of engineering leaving another 368 to research manually... Not to mention the fact that I will need to get to Mathematics before the bulb is opened up.

Well - I suppose there is a tiny glimmer of hope left in me...

So required techs:

----> Mathematics

Ancient Chants
Education
Writing
Mathematics

----> Other techs

Agriculture
Calendar
Code of Laws
Masonry
Exploration
Construction

The above is pretty much the bare minimum...

So how do I put that into some sort of order... Ok - worker techs and economy first:

Masonry-Agriculture-Calendar-Ancient Chants-Education-Code of Laws

That is the best way to agristocracy.

Exploration-Construction-Writing-Mathematics

This is clearly a SP tech path though and I will be on str3 warriors for defense until Construction and Sculpture studios are up.. and then Wood Golems are built... A bit too long to be relying on warriors if you ask me! lol

So:

Masonry-Agriculture-Calendar-Construction-Ancient Chants-Education-Code of Laws-Exploration-Writing-Mathematics

Hmm - looks like another test game is in order to see how this works. It would be nice to be able to slip in Mining for... well, mines and Bronze Working for copper enhanced warriors... (assuming we have copper!) Oh and Festivals too for cheap markets...

I would rather half bulb it and use the second GE on GoH.

So would I but the tech is huge. Whatever reference I looked up Engineering on was incorrect... It can't be 1600 beakers basic or I calculated the adjusted amount. Where is the best place for reference like this when I don't have the game in front of me? Are there any data sheets that anyone can point me to?

OK - So I played the turn last night and here is what happened:

Got 32gp from the first hut. Not a bad result but a tech would have been nice. Actually - I should save up 50gp in case I get the Great Prophet event. I am Good after all so it is possible. Only Neutral leaders don't get one.

I can see the nasty death mana source! Do I don't I? wink Of course I will! Getting something good is too game breakingly good! Any type of prisoner would be sweet.

Lastly I zoomed out and I could see another feature in the west... I could see the name at all at max zoom so I slipped on camera flying and zoomed as far back as possible without everything dissapearing:

Everyone knows that is Blondie singing Maria at the top of her voice. lol

I take it that means you plan to explore. Did I remember there was a certain number of turns grace period before the things start sending mistforms at you?

I think it is 50 on normal so 34 on quick. I don't know exactly but you certainly can still get Azer's and Hill Giants early. I have had both in recent games.

What is the worst thing you can get from the Sephulcher? A Dragon?!

Sareln you are a superstar! I have nicked this from your PBEM1 thread! Thank you! wink

Ok, I admit it, I tried to mouse over some of those techs duh

Didnt realise how deep Engineering was I admit. I take it its a better option than going for the other unit we get at that tear (mithril golems?)

You are thinking about Iron Golems I believe. They are base strength 10 cost 180hammers on normal and there aren't any multiplyers. We would need Iron to build them and a FORGE? Is that right? That's what it says in the Xienwolf manual anyway. Forges require Smelting.

I don't think that is right for some reason... huh

Sorry it was Iron.

Stolen from Sciz's thread
Mud Golem (worker): The luchuirp are so lazy they don't even work, instead creating these cheap golems to do all the dirty work for them. They don't cost food to create, so a city can still grow while producing one of these.
Wood Golem (axeman): Axeman replacement, 2 extra strength, vulnerable to fire, but hopefully we'll be at iron golems when Fire II mages are running around.
Gargoyle (longbowman): 8 strength, defensive units (25% city defence)
Iron Golem (Champion): 10 strength powerhouses, otherwise nothing out of the ordinary, requires Iron or mithril.

And also three more I didn't get to use with the Luchuirp since they come really late in the game and I had already won by then:
Nullstone Golem (Phalanx)
Bone Golem (Immortal)
Clockwork Golem (Berserker)

You can only have 4 of these units at any given time, just like their counterparts.

Hence you seem to be beelining for Str 8 city defense rather than Str 10 normal. (pretty sure Iron doesn't need engineering, but does need forge)

Not saying its the wrong choice, just pointing out the choice is there
