Varn of the Illians - Serdoa and WK playing it cool

Ah, I forgot. I got an answer from Ellimist

Quote:[COLOR="Silver"]Greetings Serdoa, our frosty Gosam twin,

Unfortunately, our hut luck seems to be inferior to yours. We've yet to get anything good out of them. Most of our explorations so far have been northwards, and we have not yet managed to meet anybody else. (Of course, we did start heading back southwards after somebody cast a certain worldspell.)

As for Stasis, it actually came at a great time for us. Our citizens were feeling a bit overworked, and the vacation time has been most refreshing for them. We expect that when they're pugged back in, they'll be even more productive than before.

I don't mind discussing things through email, but I prefer to use chat. Needless to say, we're interested in not being the guys you choose to fight, or at least not the first victim. If you add me(xxx) to your contacts, perhaps we can work out something mutually beneficial. (I'm not sure of Mist's address from memory, and I haven't added it to this one yet.)

Serdoa Wrote:a) does count for any unit (living, non-living, siege, etc.) apart from those being fear-immune of course?

Living units only.

Serdoa Wrote:b) does work on units in cities as well? If they don't move out of the city, are they at least not able to move or attack?

No effect on units in cities.

Thanks Dave. Even that is is a shame. I could have so crushed someone with it on the PoWs if it would at least get the defenders frozen in place. Yes, yes, I know I can do that with my PoWs anyway, but then I can't summon Elementals as well.

Btw: Slow can be resisted right?

You got a Timor Mask? OMGWTFBBQ. That's pretty awesome.

Placing it on your strongest Priest would make your stack much harder to attack as any units firstly have to get past the fear, which is pretty difficult to do with just warriors. If you ever face a stack outside a city you can also scatter the units. It doesn't seem to work that well on animals though, so bringing it back to your capital ASAP is probably the right thing to do.

The Sidar huh? They are definitely the most vulnerable civ out there early on. Shame they are quite far away though, if they were closer then they would be the ideal target. Something does need to be done about them before they can start mass waning though.

Yes. Resist chances appear to be very good (50% or better) based on my (limited) experience.

Actually I am thinking about how to answer them. I would like to find out who is to the east first of course (but no time for that) and I would LOVE to get that 2 gold spot, but maybe I can instead press them to send one gold my way? Together with maybe a worker or so? I mean they should be scared about the prospects of T55 PoWs, even that this was exaggerated. Looking at the map I could earliest hit them at around T68. Still pretty early and still not much they can do about it I think. Unfortunately to trade resources with them would still take some time and to get a worker or something delivered safely to my cap is probably not that easily done.

Or should I rather be kind and friendly for now? I mean if I can get anything reliably delivered anyway, there is not much use to upset them.

Thanks Dave, good to know.

T19: Only short sorry. We popped Ancient Chants from a hut and finished Calendar and grew to size 5. All in the same turn lol

Pretty sure it doesn't, I attacked a lot of units in cities with the thing in pbem2 and nothing ever happened.

A tech finally on our tech path!

How much earlier do the priests come out now?

The gold spot is wonderful but unless you kill the Sidar you aren't going to settle it anytime soon. Extorting a gold resource this early is probably a bit much given that you could still have your own source somewhere nearby. They might be your only target if you don't find anyone else.
