Not only is she the best leader left, by a good margin, but she nets us agriculture. The early worker techs will be important for our mud golems and with the slow initial tech pace.

There are actually lots of good picks left for us:

Sheaim: death mana from the palace for skeleton spam
Amurites: love mage tech path (no early defense, though)
Grigori: heroes for early defense and late super mages (duplicate Crafting tech, though)
Illians: Ice mana and Priests of Winter
Lanun: commerce!

DaveV I like all except Grigori. Heroes will come from normal GPP pool that I think is similar to BtS so that would delay us getting Scientist to bulb towards Sorcery.

I agree with this and would also mention Elohim. If Amurites, Lanun and Illians are picked first, I would lean in their direction I think. No matter what's picked, I could live with all four of the above and we're guaranteed one. I think this snake pick has gone well for us. Notice that no elves have been picked so far! (No good for us, but Ljosalfar wouldn't be a bad pick at all for one of the others at this stage)

Oh and Sidar are still out there. I think my preference at this stage is probably:

2. Amurites
3. Illians
4. Elohim
5. Sidar

Worried the picks may be a bit weak to the clan etc early games.

Plus I feel the Elohim are just a bit too well, boring, hence I would suggest

I'm traveling again this weekend, but I agree with Kyan's top 3 list (although Illians would be great, too). Palace mana:

Luchuirp: Enchantment, Life, Earth
Balseraphs: Mind, Chaos, Air

Lanun: Water, Chaos, Air
Amurites: Metamagic, Fire, Body
Illians: Ice, Enchantment, Law

Metamagic mana is really good because we can put up floating eyes as soon as we research KoTE (instead of having to wait for Sorcery). Hawks are at Animal Handling now (and I don't see us going down the Recon path anyway), so Amurite floating eyes are by far the earliest aerial recon unit. Body has the best combination level I and II spells

Well thats Sidar gone, hence we have top 3 choice

Hope if we do end up choosing Illian there isnt an argument with the first post of the signup not showing they are viable
