I suspect that it was rigged because the mapmaker feared that Lanun would be too strong if they had easier access to water.

Actually, no, not in this case. I decided the general layout before they picked civs.

I gave the Lanun the starting spot with the shortest hike to water, but other than that I didn't change anything for them. In retrospect, I probably ought to have moved the capital closer to a sea.

Yep. I did like building them up now as well. Though I miss the old FIN, that worked much better with Aristocracy and Agrarianism.

I used to not like the EitB change to Fin (having a very strong trait was fine with me; not all traits need to equally good just as not all worldspells need to be equally good, etcetera). But now I really like it. +25% gold can be strong... but is much more situational, and rewards playing certain civs in thematic ways (Rhoanna can build GotN and hire mercenaries; Kandros can fill his vaults; not sure what Hannah is supposed to do with it, though )

I dislike the new FIN because o think it is given to some of the weaker civs (apart from Flauros) and I think some civs are too weak without it.

Yeah, I killed the 3rd unit (well, besides Fireballs which do not count) this turn...

The one positive note: This should be over in a few turns. And plako, PLEASE take the fucking island-city as well. I don't want to hit end turn for another 20+ turns or longer while watching you desecrate my lands.
