It was more an insult to those in the field, in general, anyway. So Celsius works fine. nod

FYI, I unregistered off the Civstats for this game so you can get the email notifications from there.

I assumed he meant Kelvin, and that you're the illegitimate son of Einstein and Richard Feynman.

(Yes, together they were smart enough to figure out how to have a child.)

Well we'll see how we do first.

It is now T135, 500AD.Here's a look at some of our current situation:

This is our techs,we have everything to the left.

This is our capital.I'm thinking I need to save the forests so I can actually build the Oxford when I eventually will want it crazyeye. How else can I build it here otherwise?

Religion screen,I decided to spread Hinduism to my cities, since Runout is the only city I can actually use to build missionaries.I will explain what I plan to do with the religion later.

Runout:

Since we have alpha, here's a picture of our tech situation:

Zanth is in the lead.No surprise here since not only is he playing as Darius (FIN/ORG),he also built the oracle and took metal casting plus the Colossus. The oracle went super late IIRC,something like 650BC.That's like what?Turn 95?A lot of players really dropped the BaII here.

Catwalk as Elizabeth(FIN/PHI) has Nationalism(have Philosophy,Nationalism not in Can Research).I see a race for the Taj Mahal since both have Nationalism.

Now BaII,this seems really weird. He has Aesthetics, and Drama doesn't show up in Can Research. So he has Drama? Is that right? In an earlier SS,you should have seen he is researching Music, since we have research visibility on him. This is weird because the Great Artist from Music is already gone (Zanth can research Military Tradition). He want to go for Sistine maybe?

The biggest danger for me in terms of tech situation is that BaII and flugauto (two of my neighbours) can research Guilds. I currently can't effectively deal with Knights, the best unit I got is the Cho Ku Nu at the moment.I can't build Maces due to no Civil Service. The good news is that BaII doesn't have Construction yet(he's researching Music remember) and flugauto doesn't have HBR (not sure if he has Metal Casting or Machinery yet in this SS,will check tomorrow). Our other neighbour,Yuri, has nothing that I'm worried about,no HBR,no Masonry hence no Construction.

Now I logged in and greeted with this:

Look at all those cities he has yikes. That 18 cities to our 10.I rejected ,looked around, and reoffered peace. It seems he didn't attack anything.I offered a fish for fish trade and a clam for clam trade with Yuri and BaII.This is meant to be taken as a friendly hello.I also offered OB to slowcheetah.

Alright now time to outline our own plan.First we are going to settle a few more cities in our sphere of influence:

and

I will whip 3 settlers next turn. There's an island that I want to settle as well that gains me access to Dyes, however I have no Galleys in position for transport.

I thought about this a lot and I've decided I'm going to make a gamble:

I'm going to research Aesthetics right now nod,and build the Shwegadon Paya.It hasn't been built yet. That's right,we have Gold and we are Industrious, both the tech and the wonder will be relatively cheap. What do I plan to do with it?

I can get a Great Person in 7 turns.Assuming we get Shwegadon Paya,I'm going to research Aesthetic->Feudalism->Civil Service (around 7-9 turns or so). Then I'm going to start a golden age with the Great Person, swap to Bureaucracy/Caste/Pacifism and then generate 2(maybe 3?) more Great People.I definitely want a Scientist for an Academy in the capital, and the rest we will see,we can use a merchant for a trade mission,or a scientist to bulb Education later,or an engineer to bulb Engineering,or we can just save them for a later golden age,not sure yet.At the end of the golden age,we will swap to Slavery/Theocracy/Police State. At that point we should have Engineering and Guilds, and I will use that to fight someone.hammer

If we get beat to the Shwegadon Paya though,we will do the same thing except without Pacifism and Theocracy.

Well that's pretty much it for my plans right now,but you know what they say about best laid plans...

I see what you did there!

T136

I whipped 11 pops this turn,3 triple whips for settlers and a double whip for a monastery. This hurts our score alot,we are now below flugauto. Well you got to do what you got to do.

So Zanth just started a golden age this turn, look that that GNP:

Oh I was wrong about the date of the oracle in an earlier post:

If Zanth lands the Taj,I fear a few people will want to call the game,or at least lose motivation.I don't think this game is even close to be over yet:Catwalk,BaII,and flugauto are all in a strong position and can challenge him.Someone needs to hit Zanth now before he comes at you with Cavalry, but I think everyone will be too scared to do so.

The problem is that the someone that slows down Zanth also takes themselves out of the game. Generally the better play tends to be to devour the weak neighbours for minimal cost until you have the most land since without full diplo a dogpile is next to impossible to coordinate.

I agree with you there. All I'm saying if they are going to attack someone, they need to start preparing now,and if they think fighting Zanth is inevitable,is it better to attack him at a minor tech disadvantage?Or to defend with a major tech disadvantage?I don't have the answer for that.

Last turn 2metra lifted 2 cities off Sian, first player going down I think...

Slowcheetah's stack, maybe he will do something?Won't work though,Zanth got Engineering and horse archers don't do too well against pikes.

Weirdest great general spear promos that I've seen.
