Thanks for the ideas, will add those to the list. Some letters were surprisingly more difficult than expected to find a suitable name for - D, F, N and Y for instance. (Ideally I'm looking to stick to single word names.)

Heh, glad you enjoyed it.

Turn 1
Revealed a Fish near the Marble, which might make for a half-decent city location at some point.
One of the players hasn't settled yet. Rival best land area is 8000, so everyone that settled in place had a coastal start. Will be interesting to check again after GermanJojo has settled and see if it goes up to 9000, which would indicate moving away from the coast. Perhaps a reverse regoarrarr move from PB4? I assume everyone had similar plains-hill starts with decent resources nearby, so moving seems likely to be a mistake at any rate.

Good to see you again nabaxo.
This might give us a bit of an idea of what to expect from the map. My map 1 and 2 are both 100x36 with the same 44% water setting as PB20, though of course that's without any editing.

Turn 2
Nothing new revealed.
The Khmer definitely settled inland, rival best land area is 9000. The only ones to move away from the coast... wonder if it'll work out for them. Can't imagine the situation in which it would be beneficial to move away from a start similar to ours.

Have you figured out your early build order and tech order yet and what turn you're settling city number 2? You going to do anything with that marble?

So far, following option 4 from here.
Tech order definitely AH -> Mining -> BW. After that probably Wheel.
Build order definitely Worker #1 -> Warrior #1, then probably Warrior #2 for a turn while grow to size 3 and Worker #2 -> Worker #3 -> Settler #1. (Make use of Productive while waiting for BW.)
Don't know which turn I'm going to settle city 2 and whether I'll go for the marble first, depends what the Scout finds. Fish-Marble could be settled T34 with current plan, followed by a third city 5-10 turns after. Slower than usual, but that's the livestock-only start.

Holy crap, coming from BtS land, three workers and a settler by T31 sounds insane!

Yeah, Productive is a pretty crazy trait... only issue is getting techs quickly enough to keep up with the rapid expansion. Early Pottery will definitely be key.

Came across a Clam. Also our first preplaced improvement - was wondering when one of those was going to crop up. It's a winery.
