Tbf I don't see how. BGN has basically put no peace until he razes that new city, and mr cario wants to just pillage and threaten and take a chance if it comes. I don't think either are gonna make any obviously stupid a moves so he is a bit stuck.

How do you think it will finish?
1. Gawzdak razes both cities of BGN and Mr. Cairo.
2. Gawzdak razes just 1 city.
3. The hard balance will be kept for long.
4. Gawzdak loses 1 city.
5. Gawzdak loses both.

I don't see gawdzek being able to get enough military to defend well enough v one and raze another city. None of them will let that happen.
I think gawzdak will either lose 1 city or there will be a long stalemate. Your thoughts? Whether he could pull something off later...I dunno. Mr cario has limited reason to stay out of his land, and BGN doesn't seem like he will take peace easily.

Mr. Cairo, today Wrote:
Cairo man, this is the reason people try to stay outta ancient wars... its not about whether you can out-attrition the guy you're fighting, but about 3rd parties that aren't fighting at all stealing land that shoulda been yours. Adrien had to build a galley outta his 3rd city to get here, and was still farther away than a galley you coulda built from your capital!
For his part in the Great Gawdzak Stalemate, it seems BGN just lost out on the Great Lighthouse, which he was building in his capital at one point.

It's a lucky break for Adrien - he's been hemmed in by Jowy and Dreylin, but Cairo's inaction means he's been able to settle a very good spot peacefully.

Mr cario did seem a tad over concerned with gawdzak being able to build immortals. Plus just one tech further on at IW he would be able to trade very favourably for the city with swords...

Mr Cairo now has triple front against Gawdzak, hmm... interesting how long will it peacefully last?

can't respond in his thread, but this fur is 7 tiles from his capital, bfc-grabbable from a really primo spot 5 tiles away w/ a first-ring wet corn, and 11 from dreylin and jowy, with no good food from their directions. so, i'm really surprised he hasn't claimed it by now. everyone else's second happy (besides the capital whales) is about the same distance. (AT's bonus gold is like, 14 tiles away or something? i have no idea how he could even expand this far already unless it was like a straight line right towards it.) but anyways, IMHO adrien's problem is that he expanded directly into a backfill penninsula with his first cites... great for snagging that island from Mr. Cairo, but bad as far establishing borders with your land neighbors...

I think there are a few reasons why they didn't go to it. Indeed they could have claimed it if they had gone out for it earlier, and definitely they settled their backfill first. However if I were them I would have wanted to go to there too fast. Furs always feel less enticing than shiny metal, but also it would wedge out a city right between 2 civs. That is bad enough before you factor in that 1 of those civs has WCs, and the other is possibly going to Jowy you (especially after their last pitboss)
So I don't think it was too far away but it is in a bit of an awkward spot for them too IMO, made worse by non map factors.

yeah that's true, and their copper is to their west as well, so they gotta throw at least one city over there... but, like, look at this screenshot from jowy:
Cassoulet and Chouceroute are just 4 tiles east of Adrien's cap, while June is 10 tiles west of Jowy's! that's a pretty huge landgrab Jowy's gotten away with. It reminds me of Inca v Portugal in PB22.
it looks like Adrien will probably be forced to take the spot marked "Adrien City?" on this map, as he'd want the hill for his front border city w/ both Dreylin and Jowy, which puts the furs (the Jackelope tile) 2nd ring. That gives Jowy a chance to grab them, assuming he places a city on that X to the east, as he had planned. That might be what Adrien is upset about.
