[NO PLAYERS] WW err CIV6 Game 4

What was your thinking behind placing the Natural Wonders, Cornflakes? Did you leave them where they appeared naturally? I'm not familiar enough with the game to identify them on your screenshots. Google says Piopiotahi provides +1 culture and gold to adjacent tiles, and the way it's spawned there means that three tiles get a double bonus. Working even one of these tiles amounts to a free monument in the second city, plus gold, plus the eureka for Astrology on the way to Celestial Navigation and Harbours: so, yeah, a very nice boost for Japper!

I left the natural wonders where they appeared. I think there are 3 natural wonders, one of the others is a 1 tile lake that I think gives 4 faith to the west of oledavy on an island, and I honestly haven't a clue where or what the 3 one is. I only think there are 3 because I seem to remember that number of popups when I used the "reveal all" command to test the starting save. The natural wonder tool in World Builder is buggy so I didn't touch it. I haven't done extensive testing but I know for a fact that 2+ tile natural wonders can't be placed and removing them causes issues so I didn't touch that tool to be safe.

I don't think the extra culture will be all that unbalancing. 2 culture is the same bonus as first to meet a cultural city state, plus unlike the free culture from meeting the city state it required actually working a tile next to the wonder. The city site is food poor and settling on the freshwater site puts the tiles 2nd ring so he'll have to purchase the tile, and also it is only 1F.

I'm actually really interested to see what Japper does with that 2nd city. Does he buy the wheat tile first that only gets 1 culture for better early growth? Does he harvest one of the other wheat tiles so that he can work the 2Culture 1Science mercury + farmed wheat to essentially be food neutral? Just off the top of my head that's probably what I'd do. Buy the mercury as soon as I had the gold, use the culture it generates to grab the wonder-wheat tile, and harvest one of the non-wonder wheats (maybe the riverside one to make room for an eventual commercial hub).

I'm leaving for a week vacation and don't anticipate spending much time on RB while away so don't take my silence personally wink Looking forward to catching up on the game around T20-ish when I get back and see what the players have developed for mid-term strategy

Having set up the map using strategic view of worldbuilder and playing almost exclusively in strategic view, I saw Japper's mention of Piopiotahi on his first turn, but in checking the screenshots I didn't see the graphic for the natural wonder that I had been seeing in worldbuilder. All I saw was what looked like a couple forests. I thought about this multiple times at work today and the first thing I did when I got home was load up the starting save to see what happened. Turns out the natural wonders look nothing alike between the strategic and standard views, and I breathed a huge sigh of relief!  lol

Have a good vacation, I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but the Pioiotahi has to look like this actually

And needs be always adjacent to sea.
Did you maybe change the tiles at the river entrance to the NE, as it looks like in that game the wonder is completly surrounded by land?

I guess that is the reason for the wrong graphics, it would just be interesting to know if the tiles are now passable and how it will effect Japper's decisions.

Yeah, I was going to bring that up too. Because looking at the Screenshot from Japper I couldn't make out the Natural Wonder either.

Well being a mapmaker sure isn't easy, so don't take any of this personally. It's a learning curve for all participants. I'm wondering about it being traversable as well. That means you could theoretically settle right in the middle of it for maximum effect.

That's odd, it actually spawned that way. I didn't change either the wonder or any of the surrounding tiles. I just confirmed though that the tiles are impassible in both standard and strategic view, so no issue there thankfully.

If my eyes don't cheat me, 3rd natural wonder is located at CFCJesterFool's island, directly east of his capital. It is Pantanal natural wonder, it occupies 4 tiles, gives 2 food and 2 culture extra on wonder tiles and is passable. It would be coup for CFCJesterFool if he lands LOTRAM pantheon since Pantanal are marsh tiles.

I thought the balloon stacking was patched out some time ago?

I did read "Observation Balloon range bonus was being incorrectly applied when stacked." in the patch notes but I thought that was about it not correctly stacking. Now that I think about it--it would be so dumb if it stacked then people would be ranting about it. So it has to mean that the stacking was removed.
