[SPOILERS] Team SsS

Snovice the Saxeman has put an end to cold war by killing a Portugese warrior. Upon founding Syaz Sumeria 6 Portugese chariots showed up, just sitting there waiting for the settler.rolleye It's evident that someone leaked the location to CANT, most likely Mali or Babylon. So much for putting trust in people. /sigh

This really isn't much fun at all at this point so this will probably be the last update I make. I don't see myself enjoying the game again even if CANT were to disband soon as they have already put such a major dent in our game. Square Leg and scooter, you're relieved of your duties and may resign from the game. I'm sorry but I'm simply not interested in putting much effort into the game anymore. Two chariots and a proper amount of goats are waiting for you outside at the palace garden.wink

Aaaaaand here's a last screenshot for the lurkers:

Convenient placement of those chariots, eh?banghead

Ouch. Yeah I was more or less done with this too as I knew that even if we did survive the early time that we were toast long-term anyways. I'm going to start up a thread for a possible PBEM game probably later today, so if you're still interested in playing in something like that then pop by the thread. Probably won't start immediately but it's mostly to see if there's interest and if so get some discussion going on the type of game and all that fun stuff.

I feel for your team, I really do. It's no fun to put a lot of time and energy into a game like this, do your best to play peacefully, and then get attacked by supposedly friendly neighbors. Now imagine being invaded by five different teams simultaneously - maybe now some folks are starting to get a feel for what India went through in the Pitboss #2 game. It's not fun. I don't like to post in this forum because I don't want to give out advice or influence the game. But I'm not sure your team is quite as doomed as you seem to think. Are 6 chariots really THAT hard to kill? You do have spears, it looks like...

Well, we are aggressive Rome after all so I surely do not run off crying because we're being attacked. Nor because we end up on the bad side of a 1 vs 2 or worse (which I expect we will). But 5 vs 10 is just ridiculous, especially when civs on the other side of the world or ones that we haven't even met yet are helping the ones attacking us (leaked info of iron location and Krill trading Mukha horses). This whole situation removes the element of (fair) competition, which is needed to make the game fun imo. I did have fun up until turn 65 or so however, and I don't regret joining the game as it was fun trying it out, though I'll probably never play a pitboss game again.

You gotta admit kicking their butts was fun though.wink

That stack of chariots is toast if they get close enough and there's no way Mukha is going to take us down alone in the ancient era, even without praetorians in action. I'm infact hoping he's bringing some allies in soon so that I may teach them all about the horrors that follow an invasion of SsS territory!hammer

It's just that the whole level of diplomacy is so twisted in favour of the CANT at this point that that part of the game is no longer enjoyable, and spending hours upon hours on it at that state is more of a chore than a hobby. Especially in a situation where English is your second language and drafting even a single paragraph may take quite some effort if you want to get the wording somewhat right.

Just dropping in to point out that Mukha's stack has been crushed during the first turn of the war. Our total losses so far acounts to the city of Syaz Sumeria (that wasn't even a turn old) and the C2 Spearman that fought so fiercly against hopeless odds trying to defend it. I've decided to gamble a bit in order to make the most of the opportunity and our army is now on the offensive. Thanks for creating that road network Mukha!thumbsup

Edit: If it goes well I might even post a few more screen shots just for laughs, but I honestly expect DIM to "pay us a visit" any time now...

Thanks for the thoughts Sullla.

Like Sandover said, in the short-term we're pretty much fine. Problem is, they have 10 civs teching and we have 5 (-1 because Inca is pretty much not able to contribute tech-wise). This means we'll probably be facing maces/x-bows before we can even blink, and defending against maces with axes isn't much fun. Even if the CAN crumbles, we're sitting at 2 cities and no iron at this stage of the game which means long-term we are effectively out of the game. This game really was a lot of fun until the last couple weeks (turning point was Babylon and Mali switching sides), but that's life.

I like sending the army on the offensive, I don't think they'll be expecting that lol. Nothing to lose at this point right? Have fun smile.

Haha, I love Mukha's message in the public player thread.lol It's just too bad that I can't participate in the taunting.

Yep, definitely a more fun aspect of the game. smile

But how is the public players thread supposed to work? Sunrise writes:

sunrise089 Wrote:Hi all,

This thread is to discuss the game. Please only read and post in this thread after you have met every other civ. See you in a few months!

But thinking about it I don't see why you shouldn't read what is adressed to all players.
I have to run.

Heh - chariot stack... it's a horse based family meal that even ships it's own firewood behind it!
