RBP3 [SPOILERS] Hannibal of Byzantium (Bobchillingworth, ManiaMuse & SleepingMoogle)

I contacted France and let them know we have the Workers now, Babylon to ask about the status of the Horse deal, and England to agree to the Monarchy deal.

Now to dig through all the PAT/anti-PAT things, heh.. these certainly are interesting times we're living in!

There are indeed interesting times smile

Thanks for sending out those emails... I'm working on a diplomatic plan in my head right now which has faint elements of supervilliany, but which (perhaps as a result) could end up being pretty fun to try out.

Essentially, I envision a modified version of the Palpatine Proposal I brought up in chat a couple days ago. I've got Murkha out right now gathering allies, but I think he's too weak a player to be any sort of leader in the anti-PAT. Meanwhile, I still haven't told the PAT our refusal of membership, in hopes that this delays their search for a replacement member, and I won't tell them until Murkha gets back to me with confirmations that everyone we need in anti-PAT is in (I'll probably need to work on Rome and Inca myself).

Then it gets interesting. With India, we should have the talent, strength, and importance as both warriors and techers to control the anti-PAT to a fair degree. Meanwhile, we keep coordinating very closely with Babylon and/or Maya who are in PAT. Together our 4 teams will secretly rule the world, playing our respective alliances like puppets to strengthen our own positions!

Well, that's the theory anyway. I need to discuss the idea in more sedate terms with Babylon, Maya, and India seperatly to see if they have any objections / concerns (I expect several); as noted, Kyan and Darrell / Rego haven't been getting along apparently, and so that might be an obstacle right there.

Let me know if this is an awful idea smile

Lol yeah, I think working with India would be our strongest play especially if we can manage to keep close ties with Babylon and Maya at the same time.

Are we thinking about bulbing towards guilds still? Any ideas on what the best approach for that would be with potential tech trades?

After the settler I think it might be an idea to build a military unit or two before a forge since our other cities are building infrastructure and Feros could do with a little help. Every city should really have an archer and look towards having a spear/axe combo as well.

Lots of alliance-building going on. Cull seems rather taken with my Palpatine Proposal, which is nice smile Still a long-shot; aside from my having little idea of how to actually "control" several other teams besides ingratiating myself and issuing orders, I need to get India and Babylon working together, which will be no small task.

That's still a side project tho. More important (and real) concern is that both India and Portugal messaged us to say that they think that an attack will be coming soon from England and Egypt, which makes sense. India has pledged military support, apparently will send us some sort of agreement via email once they discuss it in their team thread. I think we need to firm up our agreements with Kyan- I trust him, but I want that flank secured. We have a NAP with him, but that's an auto-renewing thing we set up very early on in the game that I'm sure I forgot about. So I'll try to send him an email at some point tomorrow.

And now is as good a time to ask as ever: who wants to be the Team General? We probably should defer to one person for most war moves. I nominate either of you guys smile

Turn 88, and Confucianism was FIDL. No real indication exactly who researched it right now. Another barb warrior appeared in the SW, so I sent the zone defense chariot to intercept (it had almost completely healed from its last fight).

My micromanaging also managed to send the Citadel into unhappiness. *cough* Whip anger will fade next turn, but we may want to consider putting down a Monument if the Monarchy deal with England fails.

Bob, is there any indication who the target of aggression is going to be? I noticed your last post didn't mention anyone specific, but.. maybe that's just me. smile

Err whopps. Sorry, the attack is coming on us. There's no actual intel to confirm this, but it's a reasonable assumption.

We have stone, would walls be a good investment?

Yeah, but they're so cheap I think it makes more sense to just whip them? Any attack will probably be all or mostly mounted, so more spears for now I guess.

Ugh. Well at least we should (hopefully) be able to prepare for a dogpile. And I rather doubt Babylon and the Mayans would actually join in on the attack either so that's a plus. But it probably does answer where we should be going next: more military!

We should complete the Citadel's library since it's almost done, but after that, do we want to start on that Settler or go full on production mode? We could possibly switch Feros to building one instead while the Citadel knocks out Barracks and Walls. That 5th city site should be pretty secure if we do get attacked from the north.

We need more cities so we can free up the ones we have now for military. So I tenatively suggest putting the citadel on a settler, feros just keeps putting out spears (and maybe some archers?) and that new one near Babylon get set up to pump military too (that city will eventually be a decent commerce spot too, but we need the troops first).

The Normandy should be moved back to our borders, obviously same with the Agincourt and it's rather valuable cargo. Maya won't attack us, I'm gonna have an apoplexy if they do.

Babylon shouldn't attack us, as noted before I'd like to make that official, so I'll be sending Kyan an email on my lunch break.

In case you were wondering, we were off the anti-PAT email thread for a while because I asked Portugal to keep our involvement a secret so that PAT wouldn't try to recruit anyone else until Portugal and India had already gotten everyone locked into our alliance; this seems to have been successful, so I'll send out an explanation email to anti-PAT later and a seperate declaration of non-PAT intent to England (care of all PAT), unless one of you does so first. Maya already knows we aren't in PAT, btw.

When peope talk in PB2 about hating cloak & dagger diplo, I wonder what they're talking about sometimes- reading, playing, manipulating, and working with other people is by far the most fun part of this game for me smile
