[SPOILERS] JR4 tries his luck in PB 37

I wouldn't be doing this well if I were playing alone either - two heads are definitely better than one here!

Okay, I looked a little more closely at Toregene, and if it works Rice + Furs + Cottage + Mine at size 4, it will complete the spearman in time to meet the barb without the need for a whip!

I'd suggest moving the Warrior from Oghul Qaimish back toward Borte to free up the Spearman Borte's about to produce so it can move toward the (a) front. Yes, I do think we'll want to have a spearman up at Chubei by the time peace expires, but Chubei should have time to finish its Granary and Monument before it has to worry about that, and we might be able to supply the spear from further south....

I agree 10+ turns is too long to wait for our next Settler; I'll see what I can come up with in terms of a plan for something faster. (After I get some sleep though!) Have a great day!

I moved the warrior from Oghul Qaimish in the direction of Borte. Next turn it can switch roles with the spearman. It`s probably a good idea to get the spear into the front city asap, in order to build up fortification bonus. Toregene would rather slow build the spear, as it`s got a bit of unhappiness already and many good tiles to work. The mine comes in play at a very good time.

If we send our worker from the plains hill in Muqa`s bfc to the silver near Chubei and let the other worker join in after the chop is done we could be looking at a turn 70 silver mine. That`d be good news for our economy as Chubei could work it straight away.

We`re now looking at a 10 turn Mathematics and a 16 turn Currency. I`m actually tempted to beeline Currency here. It`ll fix our economy right away and those cheap markets will be awesome. Furs and whales will double their happiness output in cities with markets as well. If we can get up a few libraries, most importantly in Borte, Muqa and Toregene, we should be able to research it quicker. As you say, each of the techs on that path will help our research rate as well.

Okay, I missed another timing point last night by looking at it too late (and looking too closely at Toregene without thinking clearly about our workers.) The mine won't actually be done in time for Toregene to work it immediately on growing to size 4, which in turn means it'll take it one turn too long to slow-build its spear. I nevertheless agree with moving Borte's spear toward Oghul Qaimish; I think our best move to protect Toregene will be to whip the spear there just as the barb arrives next to the city. It can then overflow onto a Worker, letting Borte borrow the rice back. I'll try to post more details by the time they're relevant.

I don't think Chubei will want to work the silver by T70 - it needs to grow more before it can afford to start working a 0-food tile consistently - but I'll try to look at the possibilities up there too.

[EDIT: Also: The next build at Borte should probably be another chariot or spearman; I don't think we need or can afford a barracks there just yet. I'd lean toward the spear in a vacuum, but the extra overflow from a chariot might be valuable later on; I'll think about it.]

I can see the argument for whipping away the excess population in Chubei, as it only has two good tiles to work (I assume Muqa will work the plains cows at all times). My thinking was that 0/3/5 is a strong tile but regrowing quickly is very important here. We`ll build the silver mine soon enough.

Toregene could slow build its spear if we`re willing to sacrifice a bit (working the forest hill instead of the cottage two turns plus the mine one turn), but whipping it out is the easiest way to counter the threat. Building more workers is very useful as well.

Okay! First of all, let's go with your plan to improve the silver ASAP at Chubei. It won't be worked continuously, but we'll get a couple turns' early use out of it while building the granary, and be working it again as the city grows larger. (Chubei will have more than two good tiles to work though - we'll want to share the corn and cows pretty aggressively to make the most of both of these cities during different parts of their growth cycles.)

So here's an overall micro update, hopefully accurate this time. I may be able to amend this one if it includes mistakes or gets messed up by barbarian or rival civ activities, and as mentioned earlier, if you want me to come up with a specific plan for an individual city or Wonder or something, I can try, but this is probably the last full microplan I can build for this game (and some of the Worker actions run out as soon as ~T70-71 - which is hopefully a good thing so we have at least a tiny bit more flexibility). Note I'm assuming Muqa currently has 16 food in its food bar and that Borte is getting no overflow from its spear. If either of these assumptions are not correct, that will call for yet another change, so please let me know if I'm mistaken! Also let me know if there's something else that needs to change, e.g. if you think we should found the cities in a different order. As always, these plans are meant as specific ways to get the Khatunate working toward the strategic goals you've identified (as I understand them) and their details are obviously and always subordinate to your strategic planning!

T67: Spearman is complete at Borte, which begins a Chariot. The Worker on the hill shared by Borte and Toregene (mousing over the mining icon should show 2 turns to complete the mine; if it shows something different, this plan is invalid, and the Worker should probably mine instead!) moves 1SE to a river grassland tile and begins a Road. The Workboat builds Whaling Boats. Muqa resumes its axeman and works Cow + Sheep + Fish + Silver + Whale + Mine + plains forest. Toregene is now size 4 and works Rice + Furs + Cottage + Lake. Oghul Qaimish WHIPS its Granary (2 pop to 1) and works the Sheep. The Worker on Oghul Qaimish's mine completes a Road. The Worker on the grassland near Oghul Qaimish moves 1NE to a roaded grassland, begins a Farm, and CANCELS orders. (This farm is of little value, but it's better than just wasting the worker turn.) The Worker on the forest near Chubei begins a Road. The Worker on the plains hill mine moves NE-E to the corn and ends its turn (preparing to move toward the plains hill silver while keeping its options open in case something changes next turn).
T68: Borte is now size 6 and works Cow + Copper + Clam + Rice + Horse + floodplain Cottage. Granary is complete at Oghul Qaimish, which begins [EDIT: a Work Boat]. The Worker on Oghul Qaimish's Mine moves NE-SE-SE to the part-mined hill and contributes to the Mine. The Worker on the grassland near Oghul Qaimish moves NE-SE to the same hill and completes the Mine. The Worker on Toregene's river grassland completes a Road. Toregene WHIPS its Spearman (4 pop to 3) and works Furs + Cottage + Mine. If Chubei still lacks Buddhism, it begins a Monument. The Worker on the Corn moves NE-E to the plains hill silver and begins a Mine. The Worker on the forest near Chubei completes a Road.
T69: Spearman is complete at Toregene, which begins a Worker. Muqa turns Avoid Growth ON to avoid growing into unhappiness - it should be exactly filling its food box to 34 this turn. Oghul Qaimish likewise turns Avoid Growth ON to store a little extra food in its granary (this indeed comes out slightly ahead of growing a turn sooner and working the mine) and begins a Galley. The Worker on the forest near Chubei begins a Chop, but then CANCELS orders. If the barb suicided against Toregene's spear and no threats have appeared, the Worker on Toregene's river grassland moves E-E-SE to the caostal silk and the Workers on the shared mine move SE to the just-vacated river grassland and begin a Cottage. Chubei is now size 3, but if it still lacks Buddhism, it WHIPS its Monument (3 pop to 2) and works Corn + grassland Cow; if Buddhism has spread to it, it instead resumes (or continues) its Granary and works Corn + grasssland Cow + forest.
T70: Chariot is complete at Borte, which is now size 7 and begins a Settler, working Cow + Copper + Clam + Horse + Mine + floodplain Cottage + Oasis. Axeman is complete at Muqa, which begins a Galley turns Avoid Growth OFF, and works Corn + Cow + Fish + Sheep + Whale + Silver + Mine. Toregene begins a Library(?) and works Rice + Furs + shared Cottage. Oghul Qaimish turns Avoid Growth OFF. The Workers on Toregene's river grassland complete a Cottage. The Worker on the Silk begins a road, but then CANCELS orders. The Worker on Chubei's forest moves 1S to the silver and helps the other Worker there complete the Mine. Chubei works grassland Cow + Silver; if it is size 3 (because a Buddhism spread saved it from whipping a Monument earlier) it also works the forest.
T71: Muqa is now size 8 but WHIPS its Galley (8 pop to 6) and works Corn + Cow + Fish + Sheep + Whales + Silver. Toregene is now size 4 and works Rice + Furs + both Cottages. Oghul Qaimish is now size 2 and [EDIT: resumes its Workboat, working Sheep + Mine]. The Workers on the cottage near Toregene move NW-NW-SW to the part-farmed grassland, continue the Farm, and CANCEL orders. (They'll finish it later too, so maybe I can come up with a use for it someday, until it turns out there's an Iron there or something.) The Worker on the Silk moves 1SE to the jungled Horse. If Chubei is still at size 2, the Workers on its Silver both move 1N and finish a Chop. If Chubei is size 3, its Workers are available for other duties (TBD) but it WHIPS its Granary (3 pop to 2). Either way, it works grassland Cow + Silver.
T72: Galley is complete at Muqa, which is now size 7 and begins a Workboat, working Cow + Fish + Sheep + Whales + Silver + Mine + Forest. Granary is complete at Chubei, which begins a unit? (TBD) and works Corn + grassland Cow. Oghul Qaimish pops borders to second ring; the Workers on the random grassland tile nearby move W-NW to the Horse and begin a Pasture. The Worker on the jungled Horse begins a Road. Borte WHIPS its Settler (7 pop to 5) and works Cow + Copper + Clam + Horse + floodplain Cottage.
T73: Settler is complete at Borte, which begins a Library(?). Workboat is complete at Muqa, which resumes its Settler. Oghul Qaimish is now size 3 and works Sheep + Horse + Mine. Toregene's borders expand to second ring. The Workers on Oghul Qaimish's Horse complete a Pasture. The Worker on the jungled Horse completes a Road. The Settler moves 2SE to the Furs.
T74: Workboat is complete at Oghul Qaimish, which resumes its Galley; the Workboat moves to the Fish. Muqa begins an Axeman(?) and works Corn + Fish + Sheep + Whales + Silver + Mine + Forest. Chubei is now size 3 and works Cow + Cow + Silver. Borte is now size 6 and works Cow + Copper + Clam + Rice + Horse + floodplain Cottage. Toregene is now size 5 and resumes its Worker, working Furs + Mine + both Cottages + Forest (either one). The Workers on Oghul Qaimish's Horse move SE-E and complete a Farm. The Worker on the jungled Horse moves 1SW to the Ivory. The Settler moves 2SE to the coastal Silk.
T75: Muqa is now size 8 (and unhappy) but resumes and WHIPS its Settler (8 pop to 5) and works Cow + Fish + Sheep + Whales + Silver. Oghul Qaimish works Sheep + Fish + Horse. Chubei works Corn + grassland Cow + Silver. The Workboat on the Fish builds Fishing Nets. The Workers on the random farm move NE-N to a river grassland in Borte's first ring and begin a Cottage. The Worker on the Ivory begins a Road. The Settler moves SE-SW to the Ivory.
T76: Settler is complete at Muqa, which begins a Worker. Worker is complete at Toregene, which resumes its Library(?) and works Rice + Furs + Mine + both Cottages. Borte is now size 7; the Workers on its first-ring river grassland complete a Cottage, and it works Cow + Copper + Clam + Horse + both unshared Cottages. Oghul Qaimish is now size 4 and works Fish + Sheep + Horse + Mine. The new Worker moves E-SE to the coastal Silk. The Worker on the Ivory completes a Road. The Settler on the Ivory moves 1SW to the site of Nambui. The new Settler boards the Galley?
T77: Worker is complete at Muqa, which begins a Library? and works Corn + Fish + Sheep + Whales + Silver. Oghul Qaimish WHIPS its Galley (4 pop to 3) and works Fish + Sheep + Horse. Chubei is now size 4 and works Cow + Cow + Silver + Forest? The Worker on the Ivory WAITS while the Settler in the jungle founds the city of Nambui, which begins a Granary, working the Cow; then the Worker moves SW-S through the city to the Cow and begins a Pasture. The Worker on the Silk completes a Road.

TURN 67

Making another micro plan until turn 77 without ever being able to log into the game is impressive. I agree with the basics of the plan. Getting two more settlers out in the next 10 or so turns sounds good to me. We`ll be able to keep up with the rest of the field as long as nothing unforeseen happens.

Our third luxury (the whales) came online this turn. Still, Muqa will grow into unhappiness really quickly. It`s got exactly 16 food stored. The cow can indeed be shared between Muqa and Chubei. Borte doesn`t have any overflow from the spear. A funny thing I noticed this turn is that the barracks in Muqa now produces 2 culture because of the bonus that old cultural buildings get. It`ll pop borders a turn earlier than I`d expected.

The chariot in the NW checked for sea food. None were found. I` a bit disappointed by that. Well, a city on the horses will have more than enough food anyway, and there might be more resources just out of sight. Maybe a stone or even a gold?

The barb warrior continued toward Toregene but our soon-to-be whipped spear will finish it off. Note that the barb warrior NW of Muqa moved next to dtay`s new city. It won`t beat an impi, though.

Graphs and demos: Dtay finally built a real unit again. Everything looking good. Note that on the demos a civ has 16 food and 11 production, which is quite similar to the output of Borte. I think Ventessel`s got one single city. He might not be long for this world..

Looking good! One note: If we build a city on the coast with pig and corn in the first ring and a city on the horses, we'll orphan the corn and clams up north between the peaks - so we may have to adjust the locations of those cities.

In the plan I posted, I avoided chopping forests (except one if it's needed for Chubei's granary) on the theory that we're saving them for Math if it's coming soon. (Also because we don't have many worker turns to spare, between the spread-out nature of parts of our empire and the scarcity of workers - but we're keeping up in spite of it, partly because we got most of the ones we have cheaply and early, and used them carefully.)

That`s right. I`m waiting for the scouting information from the warrior and the chariot in order to make an updated dot map. We might be forced to move the pigs/corn site 1S, time will tell! We don`t want to orphan a sea food as it`s a solid tile. I`ve never experienced a map where the exact locations of the cities are so hard to determine. That`s probably a job well done by the map maker..

I like the idea of going for a quick Mathematics. 30 hammer chops sounds like a good reason to delay the chops where we can.

Cool - I'm looking forward to seeing the new dotmap! Also, I wanted to say that the 16f and 11h might not be the same person, but ... sadly, you're probably right. 16f only feeds 8 total population even at stagnation; we have more pop than that in our dtay front cities alone, and I think we have two different cities making more food than that apiece right now! That's ... a small empire.
