We just watch. And Judge. FFH PBEM III Lurker Thread.

Mr. Yellow Wrote:....really? Gold and flood plains next to his border? Needless to say if Sciz settles on that desert hill next to the gold and the flood plains, i'll be royally pissed!
He's still on 2 cities as well, so it could be any moment that a settler pops up form the west. It's possible though that there are other lands in his sight at the moment, but there isn't much that beats a flood plain and gold combo.

Now, i think i should talk to Sciz about this. Neither of us are gonna like it if the other guy settles there.

Uh... this is a pretty large map. Lots of land around. Lots of room for settling. This city site is a good 2 cities distance from the Bannor, and literally right next door to the Malakim capital... I could definitely see Sciz getting annoyed if Mr Yellow settled there.

But why on earth does Mr Yellow think he has any sort of claim to that land, or possibility of settling it?

Mr Yellow founded his second city about 8-10 tiles from the capital. To inexperienced players, grabbing the land is more important than the ability to improve and defend it.

So, repeat after me:

Oh dear, Mr. Yellow is going to make a huge mistake. Settling a distant city to steal land right next to the capital of the guy clearly leading the game & who has an Orthus Axe super-warrior... smoke

Oh yeah, and he's ignoring his copper to do so. smokesmoke

He's going to utterly deserve the beat-down Sciz / Thoth lays on him.

Yep pretty much. If he settles a city on the doorstep of the Malakim, he's going to deserve it getting burned right down.

I'm also noting the GP confusion... Sciz is fairly reasonably answering the question of how he got a great prophet, Mr Yellow is actually wondering about the Great Merchant from much earlier, which he incorrectly pegged as a Prophet. So now he is thinking Sciz is lying to him based on incorrectly understanding the demographics and asking an imprecise question.

I don't get why Thoth is delaying Code of Laws so long.

He is at the same time saying that his GNP is low because a lot of his demographics stat comes from the great merchant and culture. Aristocracy would get his tech rate going a lot, I was going directly to CoL after education before I gave him control again. Don't see how BW is going to be much of a help right now, and CoL is more important than writing too imo.

Mr Yellow seems to being way too aggressive with his Malakim neighbour, definitely so in his thread. They've got a lot to offer him and I think Thoth has been very reasonable.

If it was me as the Bannor, having seen the super early RoK bulb, I would be talking mutual defence and pushing him towards getting the Mines of Galdur, with an eye on a trade of an Iron resource. It would certainly save him the trouble of his slightly smoke plan to go all the way up to Iron Working(as well as sorcery) before getting Fanatacism.

He needs to secure a nice neighbour, and the Malakim could well fit the bill.

For the Malakim... well they want a nice peaceful early game too while they get ready to start the lightbringer shenanigans. And if they are acting as Iron suppliers to the Bannor, then they are very clearly holding the leash.

I'd also say that Mr Yellow doesn't want to use that mana node he has for water mana unless it is really really necessary. Getting access to Enchantment mana is a really big deal for the Bannor, and it would be far easier to get a trade for water mana from someone than it would to get a trade of enchantment mana.(Both the Elohim and the Lanun have it as a palace mana. The OO shrine will be built by someone. Water mana is less "dangerous" being primarily useful for spring, while people might be wary of handing out enchant blade to a future slavering horde.)

So, Irgy is building Pyre Zombies- and using them like standard axes for barb defense / escort duty. And he's going to give up the ice mana from the Frigus to the guy who has the one of the earliest available Archmages, at no charge. Who he's also offering lots of free info to, including the exact locations of where he intends to settle, and where Warrior Knight can obtain copper. Why?

Lanun don't start with Enchantment, right? Did you confuse them with someone else in the game?
