We have tried a FFH2 pitboss, but for some reason it just failed to work. Maybe it can this time?

So how long should we wait for any remaining sign ups?
How long until we start discussing map settings and such?
I counted for pbem 1 and it was 8 days from sign-up thread creation to game start.
Just wondering about our schedule.

We already have more than enough sign-ups, so i would advise we close sign-ups and set a player list by the end of today.
If we have too many people, then i would heavily suggest you team up (myself and TT are going to team for example). Let's say 6 teams total?
Now, we need a map-maker. Any takers? I would suggest that as this is a noob game, we leave most things up to the mapmaker as they probably know about things better than we do. I'd reccommend that nothing too crazy is done with the map though, just remember your audience- newbs to FfH.
Once we have the teams sorted, we can pick civs/leaders. Restricted would almost certainly be the best bet judging from the other FfH PBEM's. Perhaps we can all submit a top 3 list to the mapmaker who can then inform us all of who got what? If multiple people pick the same first choice, then one is randomly chosen and the 'losers' go down to their second choice etc.

Well you were still waiting for Antitwelve to appear to sign up. Apart from that the players are listed on the first post, people usually vote to sort out setting right? Probably need to vote on a way to pick your civilizations, wether to get a map creator/editor/random and how you want to have the Verterns drafted.

So far you have;
Players/Teams:
Acalostas
Rawkking Goodguy
Brian Shanahan
Kyan & Twinkletoes
Gaspar
Antitwelve (Not yet Confirmed)
Reserve:
Nicalae Carpathia (Would he be willing to team up with someone if Antitwelve confirms?)
Seeing as there are 6 players (1 reserve) and 8 Veterans (EDIT: Nine with Sareln!), i'm sure one of us can create a map if it only needs slight balancing and flavouring. "Nothing too extreme" seems to be the phrase all the players are using for this game.
As for choosing civs;
You could just do a random queue order. Last FFHPBEM game had everyone PM their top three choices to an overseer and then used an algorithm like so;
Quote:- If your first choice is available and not contested, you get it
- All contested picks drop through to the second choice, and third, if necessary
- If all else fails, I'll flip a coin
So, e.g. if your first pick was Sidar, and then you end up getting your second pick of Elohim, with no Sidar in the game, that means that someone else also had Sidar as their first choice, and both of you got your seconds.
EDIT: lol Kyan types faster then me and manages to say nearly the same thing more coherently in less words. Damn you and your eloquence!

Is there anyone else volunteering to make a map? Otherwise i'll make one. Nothing too extreme or imbalancing, i agree, and i need to find out the civ choices as well (or else don't blame me if i drop the Lanun in the middle of the continent).

Not yet, please. At least wait till your players/teams are finalized, and only if no one else volunteers to be a mapmaker.

So who do we get to handle civ choices?
I don't mind who or how.
I'll do it if no one else will, but i'll be obligated to let everyone have the best civs first, then see if any of my choices are left.
As for the other choices, if people suggest settings and what not i'll put it in the first post so you can all vote.
Edit: If we have excess Veterans there are a few options:
A) they double up
B) They drift from thread to thread offering advice
C) Set up their own "Tutorial Thread", seperate from the Lurker thread, to explain FfH2 concepts as we go along (would the players be allowed in this? you choose.). they could also collate the info from previous Pbem's into one thread if they like.
D) Other (please specify)
