The other option is that one of us could go all rogue and post something about how to hit end of turn instead of making everyone else wait over 18 (real) hrs for the timer to roll.

I saw that too but given that they have been online for a while now, I suspect some dodgy business, like whips just before the timer ends or something similar. Sigh...

I'd really like to believe that the German team is not made up of jerks and such... but how can one explain logging in, staying logged in for like an hour or more, then whipping and logging out without ending turn when someone for RB was also logged in. I'll try to put together a draft to send them simply asking politely why they do that.

Chat in-game. Less formal, puts them on the spot. When their turnplayer inevitably ignores your repeated attempt at communication, send the message in German. When that fails, send them this:

I asked JerryDemmings in-game if he would end turn when he was finished. He actually responded to me, and said they needed more time because it was the start of a war this turn. (I would understand this if they hadn't behaved exactly the same way on every previous turn.) Then he actually did end turn, with 25 minutes left. I doubt he would have done so normally. He left game immediately thereafter without saying anything more. Nothing rude, just not a very talkative person I guess.

All that said, we definitely need to make a formal post over at CivFanatics about the clock. This last turn took 60 hours to play out (!!!) The clock needs to be shorter in some fashion or we'll be here forever.

I think T-Hawk would make for an extraordinary team voice for us over on CFC, if he's willing. We need someone levelheaded, and preferably someone with a strong reputation in the Civ community.
