We kill a filthy wolf bare-handed, taking no damage! We might lift, but there are a lion and a bear in the east that I would not mess with.
WilliamLP, Plako and Suttree have all finished their first tech by now, and none of them went for a religion first.

Meh, missed event log info in my picture, we got 27g from the hut. Maybe I should let you roll the dice for any future huts . Our scout had to take some risks:
2.5 v 2, still pretty good odds and he can promote and heal if he wins.
Buddhism has fallen btw, we would have been 5b off a coin-flip, so Polytheism was the right choice. Both Plako and WilliamLP had score increases, I wonder if they both went for it. We could speed Poly up by a turn working the lake instead of the marble but I'd say it's pretty safe now.

Good call! Suttree got a tech last turn so it should be fine. We could be racing against someone who didn't start with Mysticism, but we should have an advantage because Fishing is cheaper and we are Financial. If you get a bad feeling and want to work the lake, that's alright by me.

I had a look through civstats and I felt happy ruling everyone out for one reason or another, so I'll stick with the marble.
While I'm at it, some background on our neighbour dtay. Going through 18 people at the start is too much work but I think we can do it as we meet people.
Dtay is Alex (Philosophical, Aggressive) of Germany(Hunting, Mining, Assembly Plant, Kanone).
He researched a tech on T16, looks like BW then, and got one from a hut the same turn(that hut must have been quite close to us ).
So, with aggressive and early copper, we should be careful of him I think. Plus, we have no idea of his experience and whether he realises early wars are usually a bad idea. Economically, neither Philo nor Aggressive's new maintenance savings kick in for a while, we have expansive, Fin and the fast worker. So we should be able to outbuild him, if we don't give him any excuses to attack.

Poor scout:
Should we use are upcoming warrior to check the northern coast for fish? I think we'll still have some time before barb warriors start spawning and I don't want to send him south in case that bear is still around. I think third ring border pops onto the hills will also show us if there is any resource to go with the rice.

Religion before worker:
Check!
I'm not sure when we want to revolt, either while the first settler is moving or after the oracle play I think.

Wohoo!
Too bad about the scout. What a horrible run he had lol, first a bunch of bad huts, then being eaten by a lion at 78% survival odds. I still want to scout the south at some point to know whether it's worth settling that way, but probably not a good idea to send the warrior over there since we're settling the other way first. Maybe build a new scout at some point. Would also be useful to locate Dtay and other possible neighbors so we know which lands are the most contested.

Looking at the map, it seems a lot of the area we left uncovered was coast, so a scouting workboat may also work. That river in the south is very green, with wet rice, as you say it would be good to know if there's competition for it.
I started the worker this turn, due in 6 turns. Third ring borders come in 7, slightly too late if we want to make a decision on our next city site then(and hence, WB/settler first etc). So I sent the warrior south to get the vision earlier:
We'll be able to see any sneaky bears from the grass hill before vision from the plains hill forest should reveal any extra resources to be paired with a rice city. After that I think he should go doublecheck the north for more seafood.
Also, I had to post these demos while we still have them:
Obviously worker first people are going to start moving past us over the next few turns, and GNP is inflated by the holy city, but still .

Suck it world, we've got this game in the bag!
Btw I was confused after logging in and discovering our warrior had no movement points, but turns out you forgot to end the turn in your excitement.
