[SPOILERS] HitAnyKey's Thread for the Jumbled Masses of Crap within his Brain

I like waiting for the new worker to mine the copper, since we avoid wasting worker turns this way, and the new worker can focus on improving the new city--maybe going something like mine the current tile, road it, move NE and chop into the new city (maybe chop a worker? It's not like we have good tiles for that city yet, and it could work the mine we just made for lots of PRO bonus), road that tile, mine if necessary, then hopefully AH will be in.

Speaking of AH, where do we want to tech next? How necessary is Hunting--couldn't we just go with Agriculture->AH? Of course, we also need to fit Pottery in there somewhere as well.

(P.S: Keeping track of stuff like turn numbers and tech would be easier if you didn't take the interface out of all your screenshots wink )

I don't know why the screenshots keep taking out the interface. It does it on it's own, randomly, and I don't know why. If anyone knows why that happens, please let me know. It's annoying me.

Since I couldn't wait for your reply, I did start mining the current tile with the plan of the new worker going to mine the copper. Next turn the worker completes, I'll be able to settle the new city, and will also switch to Slavery. Forgot that I was considering doing so right after the settler while it was in transit, but with the worker coming out next turn and the fact that we found that copper that we need to get him started on, I figured may as well wait until next turn to revolt, rather than do it this turn.

Yes, we could (and probably may want to) go Agri --> AH. That way we can make a farm somewhere while we wait for AH.

Since I'll be home all weekend, I'll be able to take a bunch more better screenshots and post greater detail of all that's going on. Will do that all tomorrow.

All I know is that I take my screenshots by pressing Print Screen (and only Print Screen), and that always keeps the interface in--maybe another key combo (Alt+Print Screen) takes out the interface?

P.S: It's tomorrow wink

Yeah, I know. I was a failure yesterday. (today is actually the day after tomorrow, since I'm in the EST timezone smile)

Ok, here's a new screenie WITH the interface. This time it miraculously kept it, even though I always do it the same way.

Worker finished the mine. He'll Road next turn before moving NE to chop the other PHF for helping chop out the worker I'm making in the new city. That city is working the new PHM tile. After it makes the worker, I'll likely have it take the Fish from the capital so it can grow.
Right now I put the capital as making a Monastery. I'm sure most people would disagree with making one so soon, but I don't see the need to make another Warrior. May as well wait for the Copper mine to be completed and make an Axe. Also, I think it'd be good to have the 10% boost in research.
For research, I currently set the path to Agri->AH->Pottery. I'll be playing with the research slider from turn to turn such that we don't have any wasted beakers. Right now at 60% we get 1.2 from the new city and 7.8 from the capital which gets us exactly the 9 per turn we're getting. Once I get a couple turns of that so we have some gold, I'll switch back to 100%.
We also adopted Slavery last turn. So have two thoughts. Either we whip out the Monastery when it's a 2-pop whip, and move on to the Axe. Or once copper is mined (in 4 turns) and we can start on an Axe, we do that...whip it with the overflow going into finishing the monastery we started. Or we don't whip at all and simply wait until Pottery and we've gotten a Granary. smile

Actually...just realized we probably shouldn't bother whipping anytime soon. If it looks like we'll grow into unhappy, we just revolt to our religion to get the extra happy face. Probably once Madrid is about to grow into unhappy, that's when we make our next Settler. And while that settler is headed north, that's when we set our religion.

Yes, I predictably disagree with the Monastery. I'm sure part of this is undervaluing the Monastery itself (since building Missionaries seems like a hammer waste, and I'd rather hope for random spread, having never played a real religious game), but I feel like you're undervaluing the warrior. Worst case, it's an extra happy face when we're in Hereditary Rule later. Are there barbs in this game?

I also don't think we should whip the Monastery--we might want to whip the worker because of the PRO bonus, but the problem with that is that our capital has so little food in the short term.

Otherwise, your plan seems fine smile

Well, as I'm known to do, I completely changed my mind over the weekend and switched to something crazy...or not so crazy, depending on how you like to play. smile

After this is complete, I'll be making a couple military units (one out of each city...likely an Axeman) and then my next settler.
Any thoughts on what to do with my worker that just finished the Copper mine? Any usefulness of making a Farm next turn on one of the grass river tiles as he heads back towards the city? Or just send him north, for road-making?

Wait, why the heck are we building Stonehenge? We already have our source of culture, it's Buddhism! Unless you plan on just building it for fail gold, which I also wouldn't recommend. I'm really tempted to go and change it myself, but you are the main player...

How are you doing? I hope I didn't scare you off when I got mad about Stonehenge frown

Yeah, sorry about that. I kinda slacked off the past few turns. Anyway, to answer your earlier question....I just couldn't help it. LOL
It's one of my faults. I tend to get sucked in by wonders, and when I saw how quickly I'd churn it out because of my hammer production, it was harder to resist. I wanted GPP points, the score boost (I'm so infrequently at the top of the board, it's just nice to see my name up there sometimes), the extra culture, and just the idea of having the wonder. None of which are probably really valid reasons. smile

Still not even sure if I'd want to use the Great Prophet for a Shrine or a Tech. But I'll think about that later.
Trying to decide if I should grow to size 5 before making the next settler or do it right after Stonehendge. Because Barcelona needs the fish to grow (until it can pasture the cows), it'll take at least 14 turns for Madrid to grow to size 4, and I probably shouldn't wait that long to start the settler.
The tech after AH will be Pottery.
