Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

More Final Fantasy

Heh, so funny/amusing thing. I beat Enuo in my solo fiesta, and comboed my #Victory with them. I also showed off my Neo kill - basically only notable because I saved Magic Lamp for last simply for the hell of it and to see what'd happen. When I looked back later, the Neo vid had no views on it, meaning the Enuo ones got me the cred via implication. Still no award for that in the fiesta, sadly. All in all, it makes me wonder how far Solo pure Mystic Knight could go.

Also, will have to watch those vids when I got some free time, ChaosEnigma

Congrats. Solo Enuo seems like a difficult fight for any class restricted runs.

I've been trying to get lucky enough to beat Karlabos in solo level 1. It's not the first time I've tried lowest level solo and maybe not even the second. I know the bosses past the first few are actually pretty decent, but it gives you such a huge barrier with Karlabos, Siren, and Magisa/Forza.

I'm also trying to beat FF III on the DS for the first time(I've never actually finished), and after I'm done I'll play through the NES version. I'm kind of interested in trying some variant runs in both versions, but I need to see how much I like the game first. I've tried both versions before but have never actually finished cause I started playing other stuff.

Also finished getting the platinum trophy in Final Fantasy X HD. I knew before the game even came out that I wanted to get the platinum for this. Perfect Sphere Master was the worst thing about it as I was done with Penance and Nemesis after around 73-74 hours, but I was at 82:42 when I finished the last character's grid and got the platinum. It was the game that got me into the series on PS2. Pretty good game, though the lack of cutscene skip does suck when you're replaying it. I had done a few SCC runs on the PS2 version and tried some of the NSG variants. I do plan to do a Wakka SCC on this sometime because I never got the chance to try Dark Aeons on an SCC before because I had the NA version on PS2. Won't actually be able to record vids or anything though.

X-2 International is also on my list of things to play due to the HD version, but that'll take longer to get the platinum for as I'm not as familiar with that game. I'll focus on getting stuff on that during NG+ and just have fun messing around first.

Reminds me I still have to finish FF3DS.

No progress on that Sealed Temple solo run. Ive been lazy and haven't gotten around to starting it and...not entirely looking forward to it tbh, but whatever :V.

On the subject of Final Fantasy VI solos, I've been working on something for a while.

Great work Sofis, I hope you'll consider doing more of these because it was a great read smile

I considered doing a FFVI solo at one point, but I couldn't figure out how to hack people into the party properly and kept crashing my game.

I'll read through the hacking section of that page later and see if I can figure it out, lol.

Ok, while I'm busy trying to get my FFV Solo through the Sealed Temple(I'm gonna go ahead and spoil it now, it's the Bard. He's only past Gil Turtle at time of writing), I wanna take a shot at a FF6 solo....but, since the Blue Mage was already taken, I want to use Gogo. As Sofis mentioned during Strago's run, Gogo would defeat the point of a solo since he basically has access to everyone's ability sets, so I'm trying to brainstorm a way to keep Gogo as a solo character without his versatility being a problem.

Anyone have any ideas? All I came up with so far was only equipping Relics, but that seems a little heavy-handed.

Only thing I could think up is what the SCC guide on GameFAQs calls "True Gogo" which is Attack, Mimic, and Item only. But I doubt that'd be very fun, even if you allowed the Merit Award to equip anything which isn't usually allowed in SCCs. And I don't know what all you can get from equipment in FF VI like I do for FFV. However, Merit Award would increase his versatility quite a bit and would make it similar to the FFV Freelancer run(Of course, I don't remember when you can first get that Relic, and then you're wasting a relic on that).

I've been doing a pretty bad job at trying to pick challenges lately.

Level 1 FFV Solo sucks due to the first few bosses, so I can't get to the stuff I'd know how to solo at level 1(almost everything past Magissa, or almost everything past Siren if I allowed Rod Breaking). I pretty much checked the math for certain unavoidable attacks just to make sure they were survivable while fully buffed. The grinding for AP and Steals would be ridiculous too, but as long as I got the abilities for both level 1 characters, it should have worked(need Lenna trained for end of W1 and Bridge Gilgamesh because good luck getting Mix for Galuf before that, and Galuf/Krile trained for later). I guess it could be interesting to do the boss solos anyway since I'd be more interested in the tactics rather than the grinding stuff, but I don't really want to cheat for ABP, lots of rare steal items, etc.

I tried using codes in FFTA to disable experience gain(which is possible unrestricted outside that, but I tried throwing in other restrictions and realized that if I even got to the final boss, I'd have to do over 500 damage at 1 damage per hit). I then tried a Black Mage solo on it and got stuck early on. I'm sure that's possible, but I was getting tired of resetting since I really don't have much patience for resetting in either Tactics game(the solos I have done were easy classes)

Maybe I'll consider finally doing that Black Mage solo in FFV since I've wanted to do that and some other classes. It's a fun class, pretty easy for the most part.

Another thing I'm thinking of(assuming the code I saw works) is disabling all random battles and fighting only mandatory fights. This would mean no experience/Gil/ABP from random battles, no Steals from normal battles. No fighting optional bosses or trapped chests for ABP, summons, or Steals. No 127 power Chicken Knife(but 149 Power Brave Blade thanks to that stupid Library battle that you have to trigger but are allowed to run from). Blue Magic and Money would be very limited(at least until you can dance in World 2 or Quicksave the Gil Cave, though I would try to avoid those). Pretty much any tactic allowed(so Rod Breaking and Ninja Scrolls would be available, but they'd be quite expensive). I'm not seeing much of a reason that this wouldn't be doable except for maybe that W2 final battle since you will not have Reflect Rings since no fighting Reflect Knights(rare drop), Reflect Mages(rare steal), or Carbuncle(2 Common Steals via its 2 forms). Still, even if it got walled at that fight, it could be interesting to try out.

As for the level 1 solo bosses in FFV, here's what I was thinking of for strats.

There's several bosses that are trivialize with Image and won't be mentioned.

Garula: High defense to take no damage + counters
Liquid Flame: The same against the hand form or keep the tornado form confused so it doesn't transform from that when you hit with Blizzard.
Sergeant: sleep the wolves then kill the boss. then wake them. Reset and fight with Bartz/Faris.
Ifrit/Byblos: both can be instant killed via !Catch, the first by targetting the lack of death immunity, and the second by targeting lack of Heavy. Confuse/Blind may work for Ifrit too.
Sandworm should be doable with thrown scrolls or release Dhorme Chimera + water scroll. Not sure how you'd actually catch that though.
Cray Claw can be taken care of with status.
Adamantoise can be taken care of with Poison then guarding.

The cannon should be doable with Throw or Rod Breaking. maybe with HP+ skill to help with the HP leak. Not sure how you'd do it without cheesing it like that.

Archaeoaevis is mostly not an issue with Throw, Image, and Flame Ring.

The Chimera boss can potentially be kept Stopped the entire fight due to lack of Heavy. Titan is dealt with by Float and Image. The other one though would likely require some luck.

You'd need to rare steal a lot of Dragon Fangs from Mini Dragons and the turtles but I'm not sure how many. Or get the turtle shells as a drop with Bartz/Faris. No way around the Dragon Fang steals though unless you use Bartz/Faris to kill Zombie Dragons(you'd still need 1 or 2 before that though). You also need to have 3 Jackanapes/Garkimasra for the Chariots.

Bridge Gilgamesh is survivable with HP+ 30% and Mix to double HP and give Protect/Shell. He is vulnerable to Berserk, but there's no way to inflict it yet that I can think of. Jump still 1 shots you, so you'd have to get him to above that point and do the rest with counters.

The plant should really be a matter of just throwing scrolls. Maybe !Call would work if you didn't want to.

Crystals could be an issue. But you have access to Dark Matters as a steal so you could just Death Potion them, or some other mix that can put them to critical if you don't want to use instant kill.

The W2 boss I can't really see any true consistent way even ignoring the opener. I'm certain you'd need Jump or Hide but I'm not sure what would be good for the other skill. Mix is always nice, but Image is good too since even with Mini doubling your evade, he'd likely get something through.

Sleep/Old work on the next boss, Gargoyles are vulnerable to a lot of status to prevent revival. You can confuse and blind the boss after the pyramid then use magic. Bone Mail + Reflect Ring is a guaranteed win on the first boss in the final dungeon. Then you have full access to the mix ingredients. Catastrophe can be AI looped, Twintania can have the dangerous stuff jumped over. And there's already vids of solo level 1 against the final boss, so the skillset for this is obviously Mix + Spellblade(or Mix + Jump if you weren't going to petrify the one part yourself)

Well, good news is I found a Codebreaker code that puts Gogo in my party, and as a result I can use his hit points to find where he is in Artmoney(I noticed the Address fr things keeps hopping around whenever I start VBA up, so I need to refind things every time I start it up, bleh).

I noticed that during the area with Biggs and Wedge(while Terra's name is still ??????), I can't edit Gogo's abilities at all, and Mimic is the only thing he has access to(which just uses Fire Beam over and over again).

I may or may not try this sometime soonish.

EDIT: On second thought, forget Gogo, just had a much funnier idea.

Ok, here we go.

Now, a regular solo challenge seems boring. How about something completely silly. I present....

Mog and Umaro, the Berserk Brothers

Umaro is already berserked, and I'll start every fight by having Mog start dancing, with a few exceptions.

1. I'm learning a new Dance, in which case he can physically attack enemies.
2. I need to kill off other characters.

After some....attempts to hack in Mog and Umaro, I found the earliest I could get Mog was at the triple party fight in the caves. Hacking him in before then would give me General Leo for some reason.

[Image: ZAq4rN3.png][Image: rLolYkK.png][Image: C9PlVWf.png]
Difficult was not a word I could use here. Umaro stomped the random encounters and Mog danced his way to victory.

Here I stopped for a bit to make my way to Figaro, level up a little, make some money, and figure out how to move Mog and Umaro out so the scene at Figaro works properly, which I solved by using a code to move them to a random place. Where, I have no idea, so here's hoping it doesn't screw something up.(Ignore Terra having zero Max HP. I was..........trying something.)

I'll update a bit more later.
