Chat with Portugal:
Quote:Willem: hey got your email
that's a really good idea, I just did the maths
we could possibly get visibility and trade network capability with Krill's capital on T62
me: You are Portugal? Sorry this is Darrell and I'm not as up on who's who as rego .
Willem: heh yeah
me: Okay, that would be really cool
Willem: sorry Portugal, Cath Bruigso if Krill logs in sometime soon we could make some precise plans
but theoretically it's possible for us to be assaulting Exploit's capital t68 or so
me: that sounds pretty good
sunrise is workign on our plan, it fell round t66 but waiting two turns for another force is much better
Willem: yes, if you could attack his second city and us his capital
if his best unit is indeed vulture then it's really going to be over quite quickly
his second city must have a good commerce resource for his gnp to be as it is
me: vultures dont require copper or do?
I cant recall
Willem: unless he went very early pottery
they do
i could also tell you t62 whether he does have copper in capital
me: hmm...thats unfortunate
oh
no, tha tis good
I was wondering out loud if they had copper, and I read your reply and assumed it was to that question
Early for me
Willem: heh ok
also rome sent me a rather cryptic email
said he had to run some important communication past you guys
before giving a definite answernot sure what they meant by that
me: Hmm...they sent us a note re: Exploit and founding our third city.
"Giving a definite answer" means on the allince?
Willem: yeah
me: okay
Willem: just don't like cryptic messages
makes me paranoid
also exploit won't have our graphs for quite a while
does he have yours?
Sent at 7:12 AM on Tuesday
me: I think he does, but thats a rego question
Hey I gotta go get my kids lunches ready for school.
Willem: ok, talk later then
bye

At least the riddle 'Who is Cath Bruig' is now fÃnally solved.
I'm surprised how much fuss Exploit makes because of those 2 wood-plains.

Emails between the inner 4 about the Incan war

Again, only these posts and not the whole thread <grin>.
Any suggestions?
As discussed with Ottomans and suggested by DJ, I think your chariot should head off for a while and be ready to return on Tech Trade Day. Who knows, I might still be alive then ... and I might still have a 2nd city.

That's a shame, but at least all of those diplo messages are cool. Can
I guess the 5 suprises?
1. Our chariot doesn't attack
2. Archers
3. Tech Trading Day
4. Our chariot does attack
Can't guess the 5th one though.
Inca and us are only really exchanging plesant messages to one
another. They suspect that we will declare, so they are trying to fish
for info for us before we do. I don't know how effective this ruse
will last though but moving away might make them change their minds
about us.
Also, since we only met recently, how did you and Inca get in a war situation?

If Inca is already exchanging messages with A4, I starting to suspect Inca hasn't even seen our warrior at their borders...

and we are both trying to fish as much info out of each other as
possible while not actually spelling anything. They know of your units
near their border (check ruff's thread about the suprises)
We are currently considering when we can give Ruff more support. We
will inform you of the results as soon as we can.

Email from Ottomans
Quote:Hi DJ Civ
You team is the 2nd to ask if A4 is the paper size. And with several
teams that we still have to contact, I doubt you'll be the last.
A4 stands for Awesome Foursome. However we shortened that to A4 simply
because we are anything but awesome in-game. Also it's easier to type
.
We will have to come and see your wooden rocks sometime in the future
when we have OB. We don't have anything as awe-inspiring as that at
Aquilonia yet but hopefully someday we will. However, we do have a
lake next to Aquilonia, so maybe we should build the GL J/K .
It's great news that you will have Masonry to trade on BTTD. We expect
that we will get mystisicm from Krill (since he gets to PARTAY!!!
first and he has it) but it doesn't really matter who the tech comes
from.
I (not my team) suggest ATWA (Alliance Within The Alliance) for the
name solely because I am too busy PARTYING ON!!! to think of anything
else.

Sent the email to Rome with a few modifications - one about Krill, and one about Exp;loit rejecting our OB request
Quote:Thanks for your message...it is always best to hear both sidese of the story so we are glad you sought us out. Originally we planned on settling 1W of the Stone. Then we agreed to settle on the Stone itself. That still wasn't enough for Exploit, he now wanted us to move south onto one of the Floodplains. The city lacks a food resource, and we felt we needed the Floodplains badly, so we asked why. Apparently, he plans on founding a city that would overlap with two tiles with our Stone site. So, we said we didn't care about those tiles and would not culturally contest them (i.e. we would let him get his Library up and steal those tiles before we would build our own Library, and we would never build Theaters, etc.). That still wasn't enough, so we offered to time share the wine. That still wasn't enough so we offered to loan him the Stone from time to time. By this point we needed to Settle. You know how Krill gets when a team is last to play :-)
He came back with an e-mail talking about a 200 turn NAP and other things unrelated to the city site that would take days (weeks?) to work out. We felt we had been more than generous so we just decided to settle and deal with the fallout.
If and when we do declare on him it will be in no small part to this entire ordeal. We want neighbors we can work with, and its not clear if this has soured him on us for the remainder of the game. He certainly gave us that vibe. He had talked about offering open borders to facilitate early foreign trade routes, but now all of a sudden he rejected our in-game request.
Anyway, thanks again for checking with us, and if you have any other questions or comments we'd love to hear them.

Sent a quick reply to Inca
Quote:]Well apparently we spoke too soon - I have heard the horns of war!!
So.... what's going on? We have heard the Aztec side of things (that you invaded out of the blue with no provocation) but are always interested in hearing both sides of the story before forming an opinion. You guys are starting to get a reputation though - I know I'd be scared of founding Buddhism if I ended up near you :-D
I thought Kysan (assuming you meant Kyan) was Babylon?

Good edits to the Rome reply, and good call on getting it out ASAP. According to Portugal it is holding up their decision on entering the alliance in some way.
We should send a note to A4 on what we are doing with Portugal, i.e. they are going to get Krill's Horse and join the attack on Exploit. We also need to follow up with Krill on that; I've been looking every now and then but he remains offline.

I chatted with Porugal a bit. I also talked to Krill a bit - his horse is not currently hooked up, and his 2nd city is not hooked up by road to that river that connects us.
Portugal is going to follow up with Krill.
Also, do you think we should send anything to Exploit? Asking about the OB rejection?

I think Krill needs to pony up a bit, not asking for a WC after all but its his Alphabet monopoly we are protecting after all .
I would send a note to Exploit asking about that. I'd also ask if he thinks Mysticism + Masonry is a fair price for Writing.
You know, if Portugal gets Sailing before t62, and they already have The Wheel and AH, can't we give them our Horse for a few turns for them to whip out some Chariots?

Man...reading through that exchange I think we really dorked up the war coordination. Now the Incans suspect the Ottomans are going to enter the war, so they'll tech Hunting and build Spears if they have half a brain. Then we won't have a way of breaking the stalemate. The Ottomans really need to pillage their Copper resource.
