Krill/Memphus haven't played yet so I paused the game with 8 minutes left on the clock.

At some point we have to start expecting people to play their turns and stop Pausing the game. Until we do, we're never going to get into a routine.

I'm not really suggesting that it should be right this instant, but maybe next turn?

Hopefully there are no diplo screens up. But I agree with Dreylin if we keep pausing without requests for the pause we will never get in a routine.

Maybe start next turn though. Of course if sombody is not heard from for two consecutive turns we need to stop and take a look at things.

Definitely, but we were paused for like a month, and then the first turn after that took 6 days. I think once Memphus plays we can get back into the routine.

So while chatting with Elkad today, he mentioned a few crazy things that have been known to happen in the MP community, and asked if they were allowed. We checked the rules and there wasn't really anything in there.

First off, gifting of a unit to unlock HE/WP. I said that I thought that was okay.

Then we started getting crazy as there was talk of temporarily gifting a city with the Mausoleum in it to someone starting a golden age, or one with the Kremlin before some rush buying, etc.

Those instances seemed gamey to me and not something that kept in the spirit of the rules, but I just wanted to make sure we talked about them so that we were all on the same page.

I'm not sure why temporary unit gifting for HE / WP seems better to me but I thought I'd just make sure we're all playing by the same rules.

Thoughts?

Temporary unit gifting for HE/WP should be ok. The could be a scenario where a couple of allies are at war with another civ, but only one ally is doing the actual fighting while be supplied with troops or supported otherwise by his 2nd ally. Both would like to reap the benefit of 10XP unit that emerges from a war.

As for the Mausoleum city gifting thing, I don't see why it should not be allowed. The city in question will supposedly be of some size already to hurt quite a lot to not have it for a number of turns or even one turn.

As for the pause. I agree with trying to get back to some routine and only pause if requested (with good argument).

Re. temporary unit gifting: the majority of the PBEM players were involved in this on one side or the other, so unless there was an uproar in the Lurkers' thread that we didn't see, I think this has been accepted as allowable.

The gifting backwards and forwards of cities (e.g. for the purpose of Golden Age maximising with MoM) does seem gamey to me, and I would be against it.

(BTW, must go back to TG and check how they're getting on resolving that situation)

I terms of pauses, I agree we should get a bit more strict about them. How about once Krill/Memphus play this turn (it did get paused for them, right?) we go to a "pause only after a request or after a civ has already missed a turn" rule?

Agreed on the pause rule going into effect after this turn.
