Sorry, didn't really notice that last question. No way should we produce a great person in Lapua. That city shall produce units or buildings that makes it produce units faster, nothing else. But I guess you're not talking about Lapua? Is it perhaps Alavo you're referring to? Then, why not? The value of astro went down slightly when we spotted Ichabods borders*, so delaying that slightly and self-researching half of it while possibly getting a lock on Taj would well be worth it if we're lucky. *will expand on this shortly

Forgot to take a screenshot, but yeah, in two places tile yields show us that there is land to the west of us. We've been working under the assumption that this land is in the form of islands, but greek borders in the southern of these two locations suggests that this might instead be another continent. Theoretically this could still be islands and Ichabod beat us to the bulbs, but I very much doubt it. So the main point that is bad about us spotting the edges of a lost soul is that it limits our possibilities of finding large swathes of land free for our taking. Now, what do we know about Ichabod? He's playing Napoleon of Greece. In the early days Retep did a lot of the turn playing, but later he went awol. He's gone up the aesthetics line and I'm fairly sure he got Parthenon and SoZ. It's also likely he got tGL. The first GA that was born wasn't Ichabods, but the second (a turn later) could've been and it's far from impossible this one represents Music. Especially considering I. now has adopted Buddhism, indicating that he might be in a Golden Age. Dtay is one of his neighbours as they've been in a turn split. It's likely, but far from certain that HAK is another neighbour as religion has spread. All in all Ichabod is a bad neighbour to have across the sea. He's doing decently enough to not be an easy target to attack, but he's not running away to the extent that we need to pull him back by razing coastal cities. He's got some nice wonders that would provide some decent synergy with our own, but invading across the ocean is tricky if we don't want to leave ourselves too vulnerable on either continent. Considering Dtay is a neighbour we might want to keep him strong as otherwise stay might just swoop up everything and truly become dangerous. If HAK is a neighbour this might give us an opportunity to go and claim the wonderful buddhist shrine. However, I believe HAK will have a decent army (otherwise someone would've declared on him already) and as ever, keeping the city is a totally different matter compared to taking it. On further thought I believe this reinforces our thoughts of probably needing to conquer another of our land neighbours. Looking at our options I'll run through them quickly again. REM: Crappy economy, but has finished off Commodore now (GG btw, unlucky with that neighbour) and could eventually become quite strong. Presently he's just started whipping courthouses. I'm guessing he can't wait to start his first GA, representation and caste (guess he'll need to choose this as he doesn't really have any libraries or other infra (bar granaries and barracks) to speak of) will be quite necessary to dig him out of his present hole. I'm not against attacking REM per se. We'd better take a few cities by boat on the first turn if we'd do this, and Novgorod on the second turn before that becomes a terrible fortress, but I think it might be possible. On REMs other side there's Elkad who might be interested in joining a dog pile, but really his units are mostly spears that are decent as defense against REMs ha's, but hardly the best city attackers... There's something to be said about having a safe border on one side though and our past wars have proven that we can trust each other quite far. Serdoa: The hardest target of the three and one where we wouldn't have any real use of our astro-advantage, but nonetheless one we might need to attack eventually. Serdoa is big, has a good economy and the financial trait to further boost his future. Add to that the future threat/nuisance of protective redcoats in hill cities and we might need to develop a plan of when to bring the hurt to him. Relations between us have been quite tense for basically all of the game and if ever we attack someone else we'd better watch our backs in these directions. CH: The softest target of our neighbours. In particular his underbelly containing the Cap and his Moai city look really juicy. Sadly the distance by boat to these locations isn't far from 10t so any attack would need to be prepared long in advance to take advantage of this. Then add that he's got compass and therefore might go optics soon and our chances of staging undetected drop by quite a lot.

Decided to have a crack at it myself so started with looking at the demo screen: Average (living opponent) land is 161 444, so that * 18 => 2905 992 = 2906 tiles. Add our 235 => and we have 3141 claimed tiles at this moment. On this map there's 4244 land tiles so about 1100 tiles are still unaccounted for. Not all of these are islands. There will be conquered cities in revolt and some lucky slow-expanding sod might still have unclaimed land, but I'm not sure how much land this might represent. Your number of 800 tiles of islands might actually be reasonably close to the truth. We'll just have to find it and hope it's not too far from our major ports.

Krill has near 60 food lead....Good think we finish our guilds now.and we do like like 450 beakers 70% research. Will finish some more Ch so will be even better.
So when mackoti says:

I thought I'd better show you our building queue that clearly is showing that we will finish a few courthouses in the next few turns: ![]() Not shown are courthouses started in Sevastopol and Maersk (and most cities that aren't building ch's now have already built them). ... Hang on... Let's see that quote again: (December 16th, 2015, 04:06)mackoti Wrote: Will finish some more Ch so will be even better. What if mack's not talking about courthouses? What if his thoughts are just a bit further ahead when we're finishing up CH? ...better go and look up our secret plans archive and see if we had any notes on incoming wars and CH in particular...
