Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

RB Pitboss #2 [SPOILERS] - Pacal II of Greece! (Jowy & Yazilliclick)

In three turns things start happening. Athens grows, our warrior finishes and we get bronze working and location of copper. Killer Angels' capitol was only defended by a fast worker by the way. Looks like us and Mortius weren't the only ones taking a chance in the start.

Quote:Dear Greek Friends,
We are writing to let you know that we have encountered an emissary from
Dantski, as per our information-sharing arrangement. Kindly let us know if
you run across anyone from another team too.
Any response to that NAP proposal? Cheers. smile

Quote:Cheers. We'll let you know when we meet someone. We are still discussing the NAP, and we are possibly going to come up with a slightly modified deal, but with the same principle. More about that in a couple of days when we're ready smile

I'm pretty sure Dantski's unit is near either KA warrior or borders. Our scout is right by them, so we should meet Dantski soon. If we can't find them, we should ask KA to organise a meeting between us and Dantski.

Now that we got a better look at KA lands, I'm starting to doubt they got BW. They went for a worker first and have agriculture/AH resources nearby.

Bad news. We don't have copper. Killers Angels have one just east of their capital. banghead We have to have copper closer. Either that ONE tile left fogged (behind the deer resource sign on this screenshot) or to east of us. I send our new warrior first to bust that one-tile-fog, then maybe to east? I tried dotmapping our lands, but it's not easy with this wide open area. Anyway securing a copper resource is the first priority.

On brighter news, we now obviously have bronze working smile Also Athens grew to size three, and spit out a warrior. Revolted to slavery, in case of emergency when the first warrior goes east. Athens work order: Worker -> Warrior -> Warrior ? Suggestions are welcome. Tech Agriculture next as planned so the worker can improve the rice. Maybe hunting next to improve furs, and then archery (if we don't find copper nearby). Next animal husbandry (if we find a city near AH resources, and to reveal horses), masonry (if we find a city by the stone), sailing (lighthouse and connection by rivers / coast).

That copper near KA is in perfect position.. There is a HUGE river that goes through the whole area between us and KA, and beyond. There's another river to east of us. Would be nice to place cities on those rivers. Rivers are basically indestructible roads.

Yeah just logged in, hard to believe no copper in sight frown I'd suspect it's to our east. Just logged in and we have a lion now in that direction so should be careful with our one warrior.

Should maybe start looping that scout back in our direction? I think 2x warriors after the worker might be a bit much (depends on what we find). I'd be surprised if we get hit too early with defenses up.

Hunting sounds good. Could also maybe squeeze out a second scout to make contact faster and keep our warriors closer to home.

Yup I was planning to go east, then northeast with the scout. Yeah I think we can spare another scout.

Greece -> Killer Angels
Quote:Good morning Killler Angels.

We've discussed the NAP offer and would like to accept, but as mentioned with a little tweak. We feel that T75 is a bit long, because the game can change a lot in that time. We suggest a little checkpoint about halfway through just in case we drift apart to different diplomatic sides, or disagree on borders between our civs etc. Though hopefully we can prevent that from happening and live in harmony. smile

- NAP until turn 35.
- NAP automatically renews to turn 75, unless either side decides to end it.
- If the NAP is ended at turn 35, either side still can't attack eachother until turn 45.

PS. Sorry to take so long to answer. It took a while to discuss this and other things going on in our game, then came the busy weekend :P

We have hunting btw, it was our starting tech.
Agriculture -> AH -> Wheel/Pottery or IW
What do you think, worth it going for IW? Phalanx can be built with iron too.
No copper found at the southern fog.

We now have more EP on Killer Angels than they have for us = confirmation that they indeed met Dantski. Maybe we can ask KA to settle a meeting between us and Dantski? They might want something in turn from us.

yay a friend smile

Don't know how I forgot we had hunting, how the heck else would we have a scout? :P

Yeah IW might be a good idea, we're going to need it or copper in the near future and betters our chances of finding a spot if we can see both.

I'd say definitely should see about arranging a meeting if it wouldn't be too far out of the way. Could reduce our research costs and keeps us more in the loop.

alright I was the one to first suggest it!

Research discount is good to have, but quite minimal at this point. I want to contact Dantski. Sullla's team are building relations with him. We can't know how genuine Sullla's team are with us. I know I'm not being completely genuine with them. Sure, I want peace if it gets us to a better position, but had we had the chance to knock out a strong neighbour like them early on, I definately would have voted to do that. Neighbours can turn out friends, but they're also natural enemies of eachother. You aren't going to attack the other side of the world if you're serious about it. If it turns out that just three are here in this continent, I wouldn't like Sullla's team and Dantski becoming close while we're left out of the loop like you said.

@ Lurkers (if there still are any huh): Comments so far? Any smoke moves by us? Any good moves? Bringing another pair of brains to the discussion might help us realise something we haven't. Just remember no spoilers.

Don't worry - lurkers are present!

Consider India's position - they have copper nearby. What is the counter to that? Chariots and AH. This is also going to hook up food - I see sheep! - and also leads into pottery and writing - useful economic techs.

I'd wait and see on horses before thinking about an expensive charge to IW. Those beakers might be better spent on other economic techs - unless your economy is going to be based on stealing someone elses in with IW isn't a bad ploy!
