He moved his Knight stack back into his city, so I lacked the forces needed to raze it. I moved my stack back to a defensive position.

At least as IMP it doesn't cost as much to replace the cities I lost. The pop, buildings, etc. are a bit more costly.

Nope.

I think its pretty obvious from looking at the tech screen that Krill and sunrise089 (who just got alphabet) both went military light and tech heavy. I weep for the un-worked cottages as I prepared the 50 unit stack I sent to sunrirse089.

Now they both have Nationhood and can build armies for a much lower cost.

Kylearan Wrote:Hah, I can see a pattern there: I think it's me who has been in the worst position for most of the game. So what does that tell us? lol

Either he's getting socked on his western front, or he forgot he razed three of my cities including London huh.

And, for Krill, I badly wanted to post this in the tech issue thread:

If this wasn't a CTON, I'd suggest the five of us get together and stuff that popcorn up your ass.

it's not like i have a massive score lead to protect
(cough, cough, 4th out of 5 places)
i mean at least i'm no darrell in pbem4 though....
Darrell: man I suck
my biggest issue now is kylearan is still trying for some reason
why can't everyone be a quitter like me?
Dan: haha
what was your reasoning for your last move?
Darrell: which one...the moving all my cats up to die move?
Dan: yeah that's the one
Darrell: Funny enough, about 4 hours after playing the turn, as I was falling asleep, I had an epiphany. It went something like "didn't he have a bunch of Knights in the area? I hope he had to move them to the other front. But then, why found a city."

Okay, no update on my sunrise089 front. I have about 15 units (mostly Maces) in our border city, with about 15 Catapluts sitting two tiles away. He can hit me with Knights and it would be adios, but he's teching Rifling and borders Krill, so I can only hope he doesn't seek revenge in the immediate future bang.

My "front" with Kylearan, and by front I mean deep in my territory, is this:

And:

I thought it might be useful to know where he could strike from, so I put this shot together:

This assumes he is hiding out in the SW red dot and has a few combat Workers handy. Those feel like reasonable assumptions. I can actually hit Acorn Archimedes in a few turns (need 4 Workers in the area) like this:

Unfortunately I don't currently have enough Knights to take the city out. I have 11 and 3 more in transit and 3 more completing over the next few turns:

He's got 8 Pikes in the city unfortunately, not to mention some CG2 Longbows and Knights of his own. What I really need to do is go back in time and not waste a big stack of Cats. I guess even with that there is no tile I can stage from that doesn't telegraph the attack. My core must look very tasty to him, so heading to those southern dots might feel like a good move on his part. If he does I can actually hit him with a nice Catapult stack from my sunrise089 front.

I dont' see any way to sieze the initiative, I waited far too long for that unfortunately. For now I think I will sit back and wait for Nationalism to complete (4t) then start drafting Muskets.

Thanks for the update. See, don't you feel organized and happy now? lol

Not really. I finally got visibility on two of sunrise089's cities. He does have a nice stack of Catapults and Maces that can take my border city if I can't hit him first. And a Great Artist.

Okay, regoarrarr is now officially taking over. The recent slow turnplay is unfortunate because I am two turns away from my first offensive against Kylearan. On the sunrirse089 front, I think he is content with the status quo. I have a stack of cats/Knights in case he moves at my border city, and I am slowly putting G2 Muskets in that city to boot. Techwise, I am heading towards Rifling. No more drafting unless there is an emergency. Here is my attack plan:

Next turn, move the Muskets/Pikes/Cats to Orange dot. Kylearan will obviously know something is up, but hopefully he cant' react in time. Move two Workers to the Pink dot, which he can't see. Maybe he'll not realize I can attack the following turn if he can't see the Workers. Yeah, yeah...very unlikely but it doesn't hurt.

The following turn, move the pink dot Workers to yellow dot and build a road. Move the other two Workers to blue dot and build a road. Suicide with the Catapults. If it is a Pike defending use city raider promotion, for anything else use barrage promotions. Then, send in the Knights. If combat odds are less than 90% promote accordingly (C1/shock for pikes, C1/C2 for Longbows). Don't move Rommel until you are sure the coast is clear behind the city.

If/when you capture it move all remaining units into the city. Keep bulding Knights and Muskets and moving them here (and maybe 5ish cats). I want to re-settle my city 4E/2S as soon as it is gone (in fact please queue a Settler up for this).
