On the other hand, if the specter does win at mediocre odds, afair it will autopromote to a strength 6/move2 (azer?) if it has enough XP... (which had happened more or less at the same time in one of my SP and then : yikes )

edit - yes it might have been a wraith, needless to say my game ended quite quickly after that.

Actually, to the best of my knowledge a specter has a low chance upon victory of promoting to a Wraith, which is strength 9, 2 moves.


I think Azers will only spawn from unlucky dungeon / barrow / ruins / epic lair results.

Please, do not talk about Wraiths in this thread. If you do however, talk about how they're going to Mist right now so that the early Rusher is removed from the game :D

So, i started with 2 skeleton producing burrows. Once i have enough troops i'll start removing them from my sight :D

What are your plans for the water feature island thing? I know that exploring it can release some really nasty sea monsters, but I'm not sure that it can produce anything that actually threatens cities (maybe Sytgian Gaurds?)


I forget what all the good results you can get from it are, I'm pretty sure a tech is one of them. Might be a good idea to leave it for really late in the game to get more value (and because if you explore it with an early workboat you won't have any way to kill a nasty spawn).

It can release a lot of Sea Monsters which eat first my coves, then my fishing boats, and finally my city in the worse case scenario (stygian Guard).

So no, leaving it till i have better ships.

The more i think about it, the more i realize i should pop it with a trireme (str 7), or two of them.

Triremes are strong enough to take out most units that can threaten my base, including stygians.

Edit: Can someone find for me the possible results of exploring Maenalus?

Because there was one time i send 5 ships to explore it, and stacked explored it. 5 times Monster appear, which led to all sorts of nonsense appearing including griffons, krakens, drowns, azers, spectres, and stygians...

And when i finally explored it again, i found crabs.

Hey, i won with 2.5 health left =D

Also, end turn, and my final Warrior is created (hopefully). Demos show that i'm rank 1 on the soldier count, heh.

A few more turns to Fishing before my game really starts...

So a 55% chance of something coming out to eat my stuff. Nah.

On a more analyzing note, let's look at the results. The Azer, Griffon, and Drown are easily defeated by a Trireme (Str 8 after taking combat crew).

Stygian Guard is str 7, same as sea serpent. These might be troublesome.

The Pirate will destroy me.

Treasure Chest - Not that good.

Golden Age- Awesome :D

Tech - Must be later to be of use.

Friendly Sea Serpent - As if the Lanun needed a serpent to rule the seas...

Crab/Clam/Fish - Cool, but not in my dotmap. Maybe if there's a city there.

So yeah, once i have two triremes i'll pop it.

I just realized i haven't named my poor cities (CITY) and unit, so when i get the save i'll rename them.
