[SPOILER] Asoka of the Vikings (Nakor & Gaspar)

Oh, almost forgot. Buddhism fell this turn, btw.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Quote:Hi Plako,

Always good to have an old friend as a neighbour!
I think we both learned lessons from PB2, though we did come in second and third.

To be honest, I would have hoped to be a bit farther away from you... wink
Are you at 4 cities already? wink

Okay, stop fooling around. Can you tell us how far your capital is from us and if we can decide on a logical border between our civs? We can have our scout moving towards you next turn.
I'd like to get that settled before signing a NAP, but we are interested in a NAP as well, especially since our UU will blossom at the same time.

Kind regards,
Nakor

Any thoughs on who got Buddism?

I really don't do C&D unless you beg me. I'm actually getting pretty good at it, but I didn't take demo SS every turn mostly because I didn't want to do C&D. banghead So here's my non-C&D speculation.

Adlainmakes the most sense, as the only one to start with Mysticism. He may also want to try a run at SH so he can make up for his lack of a 2nd trait.

Lord Parkin is the next obvious choice. We stated in the intro why SH is so bloody obvious for his Civ/Leader combo. If you're going for SH, early religion makes sense, as you can crank out a very quick Shrine.

I'm gonna guess Adlain. Next time I log into the game, I'll poke around a bit and see if I can find an obvious answer. plako responded already. Hurry up and buddy up to him, will you? lol

plako Wrote:Hi,

My capital is in the east. Have you met anyone else yet?

There is 9 tiles between our current borders. The natural border would
be the 5th tile from our current borders.

What about short term agreement so that we've time to scout and and no
need to fear being aggressively settled ;-). That could be e.g. Short
NAP and no settling on the horizontal middle line (5th tile) or past
it. This would give us time gain more map info and we could finalize
the border agreement after that.

Kind regards,
Plako

And to all you amateur thread-spammers out there, I told you we'd get busy once some stuff got going on. If the likes of LP can justify writing 400 posts about moving their warrior NE, god bless them. Nakor is the King of the 2-line response post, and I'm the Ace of the 47 consecutive posts about diplo. So, now that we've met someone, the thread will surely get interesting.

Then don't do C&D. I don't like that stuff either. I'll take a look at CivStats and see if we can find something there.

I'll respond to Plako, sure!

Wait, that's 3 lines.... banghead

Hey, I can do that as well!

Quote:Hi Plako,

Talking business?

We haven't me anyone yet, just scouted our land. We are at the southern part of the map with our Capital about 7 tiles form world's edge.

Let's go for that natural border. We'll send a scout there to take a closer look at good sites for our bordercities.

Are you directly to our east or more NE?

If we can agree on not settling past that 5th tile, we can make a NAP untill T80 or so for now?
We can talk about how to settle best once we have more info indeed.

Let's include the usual clauses with the NAP, ok?
1. No ROP
2. No map info to others
3. No gifting of units for an attack
4. Confidential correspondence

Ok?

Cheers,
Nakor

Quote:Hi,

Yes straight in to the business ;-). That is how we Emoticonialists
like it. Fast and efficient. As long as you see happy faces our
relationship is good. I wish this is a starting point of long lasting,
peaceful an mutually beneficial relationship.

I like your ideas concerning NAP and I'm willing to accept the deal as
is. So after your confirmation we've a deal. Recap of the details:
* No settling on the middle column between us or past it (5th column
east from your current border and correspondingly 5th column west from
our current border)
* 80T NAP i.e. no active aggression
* No ROP
* No Map info to others

* No gifting of units for an attack

* Confidential correspondence

Our capital is directly to your east. There is just narrow land
passage connecting us together.

Kind regards,
Plako

So, that gives us time to scout out his capital and see if we need to settle there soon. If we can agree on 2 cities 4 tiles apart, that would be awesome!

You might see the effects of the religion show up in the demographics - the 5 holy city culture and land tiles from a quick border pop.

Played the turn, Scout completed and now moving East to hopefully see plako's capital. Greenland onto a settler. Scout in the west uncovered little. I do want to make some more contact, but honestly at some point we'll either have to build a 3rd or double back to get very good visibility on our immediate area. The sooner we can comfortably dotmap, the better.

Good to see we have an agreement with plako. Hopefully we can stay friends and both extend our influence in the opposite direction. Though a lot will depend on who we meet to our immediate west. Still, the agreement makes me think settling to the west first makes most sense.

It occurs to me you haven't asked plako if he met anyone else. He has. Whom, I don't know, but our EP ratio after last turn was 0/4, so clearly he's spending them elsewhere. I suspect that they didn't hit it off, or perhaps that very friendly introduction we just received would have been less so, and instead gone to someone else. I'm going to let you handle chatting with him since you seem to have a relationship already.

Here's the plako diplo dump. I took the initiative to go ahead and accept the NAP as we agreed. His neighbor is WarlordDr, who has no thread. Curious. I never understand why you'd play in one of these games here and not write anything about it. Why bother? I get that as they drag on sometimes they're hard to motivate to update as much, but not why you wouldn't make a thread at all. If nothing else, its a useful place to get some lurker feedback on general Civ questions. To each their own.

Perhaps you can press him a bit to see how plako's finding him to deal with? We have a bit of information on all the other teams from either past game threads or what we can glean from the setup threads. (Mainly for LP and Locke, who haven't played here before. Oddly enough, they both came off as d-bags in the setup thread, in my humble opinion. Hopefully our interactions in the game will prove me wrong. Always willing to give anyone the benefit of the doubt... once. wink )

Quote:Hi Plako,

We'll be scouting towards your border.

Thanks for the fast resolution!

What I forgot to ask earlier, who is that you have met before us?

Nakor

Quote:Hi,

It is WarlordDR.

Sorry for being pushy, but I would appreciate fast response for our
NAP deal. It affects our short term plans considerably. Even if you
can't see it all, I can assure you that the border suggested is very
fair.

Kind regards,
Plako

Quote:Hi Plako,

Sorry, I think we thought the deal was agreed already. We'll trust you re: the border. If either of us see any reason to amend the border agreement we trust we can come to an amenable solution. Here's to conquering in opposite directions. ;-) (Am I doing that right?)

Regards,
Gaspar

P.S. Feel free to also take that as me subtly poking you to update your PBEM6 thread. That game looks very interesting from the outside, but nobody outside of athlete is writing about it. :P

Sorry, can't bother to update PBEM 6 due to time issues.
I'll post there once something is going to happen.

Sorry for not responding to Plako sooner, seems like that is his RP this time around...
