Square Leg is Garrim Gyrrrrrrr - An Angry Dwarf

Yeah. Maybe if it's inside your borders. Otherwise probably better to try and cash in early.

In SP games though I've managed to pop omniscience from a graveyard. So I guess it was the tomb of a Patrian archmage or something.

Played a few turns these past couple of days so here is the report!

Turn 5

So when we left it I had just popped a nasty scorpion form the Sephulcher so on loading the save I was expecting to only have 1 warrior but surprisingly the scorpion thought better of attacking and wandered off...

Fair do's! So I popped the Sephulcher again!

Meh - better than Death.

Also I noticed that Bob's score increased by 11pts - that must be a free tech. cry

So our other warrior had a hut to enter this turn:

More gold! Building up a pretty big stash here! lol

Turn 6

I opened my email to discover this message waiting there:

Slimey Goblin Wrote:*As your Warrior exits the hut, pleased with his discovery, he suddenly gets the feeling of being observed. He quickly surveys his surroundings to discover the source of this sense of being watched, yet he sees nothing. The air is more quiet than usual, and he puts a hand on his weapon in case of a surprise attack. For a few minutes nothing happens. Then, from somehwere to his left, a rock comes flying through the air, and strikes the Warrior on his head. The Warrior falls to the ground and passes out. As he regains consciousness he sees the stone lying next to him, and there is a paper note tied around it. On the note these words are crudely written: "Hi Dwarf! We are Orcs and Goblins! Nice to meet you!"

Heh - I liked this opening. It is slightly threatening but the last line is quite nice! This warrants a reply in kind:

Miserable Dwarf Wrote:The palace was quiet. No one was stirring. Mind you, this wasn't uncommon in the luchuirp palace. Garrim Gyr was sat slumped in his chair knawing on the leg of some creature they had found running through the ornimental gardens when all of a sudden there was a noise...

An angry dwarf ran into the room holding a rock aloft:

"kill em!! Kill em!!" he was shouting.

Garrim leaned forward from his chair and took the rock from the angry dwarf. Without even reading the words etched into it he knew who it was from.

"Orc's and Goblins hey?" he exclaimed.

"Send them this" and he gave a the angry dwarf a piece of animal hide.

My men are very angry,
but I'm from a peaceful line,
Please ignore my messengers manners,
I hope we'll get on fine!

(Out of character) Nice to meet you! wink How are you finding this world so far?

I think that'll do the job! Although - I should have found another adjective for Angry...lol

Tredje mentions the warrior who just popped the hut but I couldn't see his unit. It must have either moved in and out our of sight or had a pretty good vantage point. I am guessing he is to the south though.

I moved SE SE over the hill and spotted another Graveyard! Here's hoping for something good!!

Our other warrior moved like this:

Not a lot else to say.

Turn 7

I popped the Graveyard we found last turn:

We're in the money! Lots of 100% research for us!

I was checking the graphs and located this in the culture:

Must have been an event of some description.

Turn 8

Our warrior bitch-slapped a Griffon!

Next turn I will do some renaming of those warriors - They are lived long enough to be named!

Thats it for now! Bye!

Blitz session went really well. Finish t22. Dwarves sleepy now though. Update tomorrow.

Well, seems we are rich, shame we don't have the advantage the others dwarves get with that.

Damn. I forgot to upload my screenshots from yesterdays blitz session to dropbox so no piccies I'm afraid.

We got to the end of T22 by the end of yesterday which was pretty damn good! At that time we had researched Masonry and Agriculture and were a few turns short of getting calendar.

I'll have to do a better update later on. Good news is that we have been really lucky with barbs in that, I haven't seen any apart from a Griffon (defeated) a wolf (defeated) a lion (defeated) and a Giant Spider (err... he ate a warrior.. frown)

Serdoa mentioned in chat that he was close to being eliminated by barbs at one point and Bob had a C3 Goblin harrassing him! heh!

I have one warrior that has got to 9xp, 1xp short of C3 which will be really useful in fighting the barbs.

I popped the worldspell as soon as Masonry was done and settled the hammer. We have a GE due in about 12-13 turns. yay!

We need to start planning our second city site so if you see any good sites from previous pictures - point them out!

Have you met anybody yet, and if so what direction are they in?
Reply

No - not met anyone new. still only the Clan who, although I haven't seen any units, must have seen mine from the south beyond the floodplains somewhere.

No more messages from Tredje either. I fancy some diplo... Going to write a nice message this afternoon I think, see if we can't get some info.

On a map note actually - I found Seven Pines to the East near... MARBLE! Yay - the site isn't great but those two features warrant a city. We need marble to give us 25% discount on our Gargoyles. Seven Pines is interesting... I am thinking of potentialy pumping the AC in this game. Especially if it gets me good relations with the Sheaim but even so - It makes sense for all those living units to suffer while my golems... err... golem? Seven Pines has 2 effects when activated. The first forces Peace with you enemies (I assume for 10t minimum) and the 2nd is to cut the AC in half. A useful unique feature!

I also scouted out the Remnants of Patria - it is on a desert tile so currently the tile yield is 3h. Will still be good once the relevant techs are researched but not as awesome as usual!

The last area map I can see is from turn 0. I assume since you have settled hammers than the capital will be pumping out the GP, so what we really need is a unit pump city... which I can't really see.

The site SW,SW,SW,S,S is founded on a hill, has plenty of floodplains for food and seems to have at least 3 hills I can see, which may be the best on offer.

The other option is marble city, but I don't know how far away that is

Some fun diplo with the Orcs. I have assigned Howl to be our ambassador with the Orcs and Goblins:

Howl's Moving Castle

Clan of Embers Wrote:Hello Dwarven Friend,

Some time ago my scouts discovered an Amurite settlement to the West. Since it's a barb world out there, we have agreed to help facilitate the establishing of contacts between any empire we should be so fortunate to locate. Therefore, should you want to meet the Amurites, you now know where to go. If it should please you, we could come to a similar agreement.

- Tredje & Mardoc, Orc & Goblin

and my reply:

Luchuirp Wrote:Greetings Orcs and Goblins,

"My name is Howl and I am the dwarven ambassador to the Clan of Embers."

A surprisingly tall dwarf holding a burning stake greets you. He is thin with long straight hair and reminds you more of an elf than a stunty.

"Please do not be scared of my friend here, he is merely a magical flame named Calcifer. His manners leave much to be desired so please don't be offen..."

"Bleurgh!"

A small fireball erupts from the stake. The smell of methane soaks the air...

"As I was saying - please don't be offended by him. Your proposal is one that my master is interested in but he is a staunch defender of his realm. Garrim cannot spare a scout at this time to adventure out into this barbarian world since a nasty Spider ate the last one... Should you wish to direct these men of Magic to our lands, we have no qualm. Perhaps we can share some more information on the map? We, as you may have deduced, are due north from where you saw our, rather grumpy, warrior scout. He said that he didn't see your unit but that you were most likely due south of his location?"

Howl chucks you a crude whistle made from wood. A small animal crawls from inside clearly disturbed from its sleep. On seeing the Orc currently in possession of his home he quickly runs back inside only to emerge seconds later with a nap-sack on his shoulder...

"We will contact you should we meet any other nations of this land however, to date, we haven't met anyone else other than yourselves. Should you need us, please blow on this whistle and I will come. Farewell for now."

"fwwwwtt"
Howl departs leaving only the smell of burnt hair...
