Should I play after Pin, or will you be able to grab the save Nic?

I'm going to skip it in general. I'm not going to get in the way until I get EITB to work properly (plus I'm at work).

Maybe the next SG.

Okay, here's the save! Lurkers, check back at this post later: I'll put the report up when I finish it.

Updated with story:

So for today's version, we're going to play EitB as if we were playing a game of Civ4! Not because I intentionally went that road when playing my turns, but because I just don't know any better wink

Here's the empire at the start of things:

It appears the cheese makers have been left wanting as of late.

Turn 1 - t105

I decide to start a settler in the capital. So someone else besides me can found a city (again). Where will it go? Not sure, maybe south to the fish and rice? Maybe they'll claim the horses to our west?

IBT-

Beware of Tigers

Turn 2 - t107

:dancing5:

Turn 3 - t107

Look who joined the party!

I didn't even realize we were running specialists. Let's see, he can bulb Drama. Doesn't drama give another free bard? Yeah, it does to the first person to research it. Are we the first to research it? Uh... I think so. What they hey, let's just do it.

We are! Yay for free tech. So what will this guy bulb?
Fishing? Ummm.... I'll pass.

Now I know you could bulb Sanitation with a bard in FFH2, but does that still work in EitB? With that in mind, I'm going to rename him.

Turn 4 - t108

dance

IBT-
Trade comes in! And with that the doors are unbarred and the line of hat-in-hand AIs approaches:
First off, Cassiel demands Mysticism. Listen bub, learn how to make your people worship you like a god on your own dime, k?
Alexis wants Open Borders. Insert Alexis open-borders-as-sexual-innuendo joke here.
Varn Gosum wants to trade festivals for fishing. See, Cassiel? This is how you get something. Hey, and maybe fishing will open up a better bulb from the great bard!

Turn 5 - t109

Now he'll bulb hunting....
Hmmm.... I'm going to follow my intuition and research Bronze Working. Bronze Working will let us get rid of that nasty jungle and maybe opening up Sanitation will cause the Bard to be able to bulb it? Come to think of it, why do I want to bulb Sanitation? What does it even do?

[Image: perpysg-t105-106-109goingforsanitation.jpg]

Ooooh, I could go for that.
Say, stuff is taking forever to build, and since we're going to go food-heavy then why not switch civics up a bit:

IBT-
Alric Ulvin dmands Festivals. Talk to Cassiel about where that kind of attitude gets you, mister.
Speaking of Cassiel, he has learned his lesson and comes asking to trade Festivals for Cartography. Sure thing, buddy.
We meet someone:

And I vote for pedro:

Turn 6 - t110

[Image: perpysg-t105-106-110whipsupersizeme.jpg]
[Image: perpysg-t105-106-110whiphamburgerland.jpg]

Whipping time! It's like I'm playing beyond the sword all over again!

Trade Rhoanna her Hunting for our Festivals & Mysticism.
Now the bard will bulb Knowledge of the Ether. Okay, getting all these cheap techs is not helping our bard bulb something good.

IBT-
Alric is a slow learner. He demands our world map. No, bad Alric.
Council vote:
[Image: perpysg-t105-106-undercouncilresults.jpg]

Turn 7 - t111

Slider to 100%; Bronze Working in 4 turns.
Building granaries in the cities that just whipped smokehouses.

Turn 8 - t112

Necronomicon is built far, far away.

Turn 9 - t113

elephant:

Turn 10 - t114

More whipping!

[Image: perpysg-t105-106-114whipsupersizeme.jpg]
[Image: perpysg-t105-106-114whiphamburgerland.jpg]

Bronze Working comes in at end of turn, along with builds in most cities. So the next player better thank me for the unparalleled amount of flexibility I demand he have. Or hate me because I don't know what I'm doing and whipping in FFH2 / EitB is not the uber alls it is in civ4. One or the other.

And as I pass the save along, I notice the bard can now bulb Sanitation. Yay me!

Here's my report- Lurkers, I recommend you wait for Pin to post his before going forth & reading mine, lest you damage the fragile continuity which binds this doubtlessly riveting and uncommonly coherent narrative!

Turn Vital Statistics:

Cities Settled: 2

AI Demands Refused: 6

Techs Obtained: 4

Units Lost: 0 (!!!)

The turn began with my worriedly browsing the event log to see if the city held- thankfully Dave was able to save it; looking back on my report, there were a few reasonable solutions which should (and apparently did) work. Our empire is awfully small and poorly developed though. I spent the first half of the turn non-literally whipping our civ into shape, because I promptly forgot that we were in Slavery after checking the civics screen.

What's up with that, anyway? Slavery sucks in FFH! Man! It's almost as if our team collectively has no idea what it's doing! lol

There were a bunch of things I changed around on the first turn. We had an artist just sitting around who I used to bulb sanitation, which we sort of badly need due to our running some sort of half-assed artistofarms economy. Our newest city was building a monument when it already had a useless rusty Freak inside- I canceled the build & just made a Show instead. Some useless specialists were fired in other cities to let them quickly grow to the happy cap, and then half our cities were switched to settlers since four cities is awfully small for turn 115. Horrifyingly, we're running aristocracy yet somehow lack Construction. Since I got to pick a new research target on my first turn, I faced a real dilemma; should I research the incredibly important and obvious tech that enables us to actually build more farms, the one improvement our entire economy is ostensibly based upon? Or do I blow potentially hundreds of beakers pursing possibly sexier but significantly less vital options?

The choice, if such a simple decision could even be called that, was clear:

I've got my priorities in order wink devil

This turn saw the AI bug me time and again to give them various petty techs & other favors. Especially this dude, who would not leave me the hell alone:

Gee well, it's only a map, and the AI already cheats and freely trades about their own maps anyway so it probably doesn't even show him anything new, and no fuck you Tebryn, get bent.

Sorry lady, I'd sure like to help you out, but the all-powerful Clowns Guild has enacted strict commodity export controls on Fun. Denied.

rolleye

And so on & so forth.

Gosh, it sure would be a shame if some or all of the civs I rebuffed declared on us while someone else was playing the turns! innocent

Pin had kindly left me a settler, so I founded this lousy jungle-infested city because I could.

Not feeling satisfied with having founded over half our cities, I decided to make it a full two-thirds using a settler I quickly produced in Super Size Me. It's a fishing village that doesn't even work any fish (yet)! Wacky!

At some point I also got to vote for an Undercouncil resolution- I picked the free Great Scientist one, giving Dave or whoever a new toy to play with. I'd save him for the Veil Shrine, but I suspect someone will make an academy instead.

Oh hey, Tebby declared on someone after all! Our annoying hollier-than-thou-because-I'm-literally-an-angel proselytizing atheist neighbor! How dreadful! jive

All-in-all mostly a builder save. Hopefully next turn lets me kill people with Satan powers, as God intended =)

A recap of pindicator's evening: (moved from pbem30 org thread, where it was originally posted...)

Okay, the daily job hunt is done, luddite's pbem23 moves are commented on, now it's time to write up the 10 turns you played in the perpy sg.

What's this? Old roommate who moved to missouri is back and town and wants to get a pint? Sure, i'll be right over!

5 hours later...

Recap your evening in lieu of writing up that turn report, cause you're too tipsy to do that tonight. shhh
