[SPOILERS] Vive l'Afrique libre : Bowsling and Aivoturso are Mansa Musa of the Zulu

I logged in to do demos. Dinosaurs settled in place and are working the PH forest (4 mfg), which means one of a few things:

- They don't have a 3f1c tile like us and MLP
- They are intending to work that tile but want to throw off demohackers
- They are building a fishing boat (suboptimal but possible)
- They also decided that moving 1N was a good idea, and the PH is the best tile they have aside from the pig

Care Bears ended turn without building, which suggests to me that they moved onto the PH, assuming everyone has similar starts (which the demographics seem to be validating).

I moved the settler 1N and was rewarded! The plains tile we could see in the fog is a wine tile, and 3N1W of our starting location is a forest. The river seems to extend further than the one we started next to. I want to settle immediately after another team just to confuse the demographics for really hardcore teams.

I can't figure out MLP's GNP. They have 17, which can be broken down into: 4esp from palace, 2 culture from palace, 8 commerce from palace, 1 commerce from city centre. This adds up to 15 GNP, leaving 2 to be accounted for. They are working a 3f tile, excluding a 2c coastal tile. The riverside deer tile gives them 16 GNP alone. Working the pig instead, and researching a 1-prereq tech (AH) is 9*1.2 = 10.8, which rounds to 10, giving 16 again. That same 1-prereq tech while working the deer is 18 GNP. A two-prereq-tech (Pottery) gives them much much more than 17 GNP.

The only way I can reach 17 given these numbers is by working the deer and teching AH at 90%, or with a 3f2c tile, which I really hope they don't have. If you or a lurker can figure this one out, I'd be grateful.

BTS always give a free beaker to the player every turn (except anarchy turns or turns where you have no city) - this beaker shows in the GNP number.

Oh, okay. I just realized a minute ago that my prereq bonuses were off - they seem to be .3 per tech with these settings, instead of the .2 I was working with. This means that they are indeed working the deer, and they are not researching a technology with a prerequisite, i.e. they are teching Fishing, Mining, Hunting or Mysticism. Of those, Hunting makes by far the most sense. Thanks!

Prereq bonuses are ALWAYS 20%. But remember to include the free beaker - everyone's beakers per turn is at least 10 due to it.

So yeah, I was just making dumb mistakes there. My bad.

The micro timetable I have is this:
T5 border pop & switch to the deer tile
T11 finish AH, start mining
T15 finish worker, start warrior; worker starts pasture on pigs
T18 worker finished pasture
T19 mining finished fishing started
T20 camp started on deer
T21 Alcatraz grows and works PH
T23 camp finished, citizen switches to it
T24 Warrior finishes, settler started
T25 Fishing finished, and we can either go BW or TW at this point. Production in Alcatraz shifted to fishing boat

I will be out of commission tomorrow, so if you don't mind ending turn, poking around or doing demos, that'd be splendid.

Rival best GNP is 21, meaning M & M are only teching a 1-prereq tech, i.e. animal husbandry.

Scout move S-SE next turn, then proceeding to scout east and north of Alcatraz sound good Aivo?

I tried to open the sandbox only to find a world full of mountains. Any idea what might have gone wrong?

Scout plan sounds about right.

I just rolled a random map with our settings and converted it all to mountains. Our start location is somewhere near the middle of the map, but I forgot to delete the original Zulu settler/scout, so those ones are stuck in the mountains. You'll need to world builder a few things (including giving an AI room to settle to avoid winning a conquest victory when they all commit suicide on their mountains) anyways, since I made that before we settled.
