As well as the prophet. We'd have probably been talked into giving you our Great Prophet which would have been in about 10t?

Sorry for not getting back to you for some time, but things have been
a bit busy for us. We'll send you some updates and a proposal very
soon, that is most likely tomorrow. 2HAs and 2 chariots are on the
way, we should discuss gifting them to you in a way that won't be
noticeable by India. We'll send some additional troops to be there by
T100.

I thought the plan you sent to the CoW looked good, so we'll follow
it. Regarding the cities, I think you want to keep them smile We'll gift
them to you if we happen to capture them.

Quote:Hi Jowy,

Just wanted to update you quickly. We have just slaved out our last
Horse Archer and will be sending it along to join up with our other
units for the CoW attack. That being said we have moved our first unit
(a chariot) into your borders by Corinth. On T86 we would like to gift
you that chariot along with the other who will join him. We will
produce a Horse Archer on T86 so that should help disguise it
somewhat. Also we will have 2 Horse Archers in your borders near
Corinth (by T89 I think it was) ready for gifting. So as mentioned a
while back we would be bringing initially 4 HA's and 4 Chariots some
of which we'd be gifting to you. The first half we will be gifting to
you and the 2nd half will be our units. Our 2 HA's and 2 Chariots
should arrive in Corinth about T95. That would give them 4 turns to
get to the front in position to attack T100. It should be manageable I
think but as the time draws closer we shall have to communicate quite
well.

Depending on how things will unfold, we plan to send an additional
wave of troops. We will likely send them the other way via galley to
get them to the front faster.

Regarding the units we are gifting you. We are proposing a gift of 2
Horse Archers and 2 Chariots and would like 3 workers in return. Given
the current diplomatic status of the game we have no need to rush you
into getting those workers to us but believe when you feel you can get
them to us would be most appropriate. What do you think?

And a response from Greece:
Quote:Hey Athlete,

Timeframe sounds good. I have roads up so those last-minute troops will probably get to the front in time. India currently has a warrior scouting near my area, claiming they're on their way to east (which might be true). Anyway watch out, it was NE of Thebes last turn (Haven't logged in this turn yet). If he sees you gifting me an unit, or alot of your units on my lands, then we're pretty much screwed. I think you should use the chariot as "scouting unit" until the strike. Maybe even stay near the warrior to make sure it doesn't find your HA stack. You should wait and bring all the HA's at once. They use cloak & dagger tactics aka. they can tell which techs and units I have via demographics, so they might notice if you gift alot of units or especially if they're HA's because I don't have Horseback Riding.

I was under the impression that we'd get the units free, now that we're part of the CoW alliance in which everyone was supposed to contribute! Though I don't mind making you some workers for free after the war, afterall we are allies nowadays wink

Just a quick message of congratulations on your first victory! We are
happy to see our allies get stronger. Please keep us in the loop when
possible.

Response from Rome:
Quote:Dear Kalin and Athlete,

Thank you. Things look like they are going well so far. I took P'yongyang (now Nar Shaddaa) last turn, and suffered no losses, which is good. Things are probably going to be quiet for a few turns as my soldiers heal and both sides amass new armies, but I should prevail in the end.

The biggest threat to my success is, unfortunately, the Coalition's plan of attack, but I won't shirk my duties there as I have tried to make clear in my most recent e-mail. I'm hoping that I can take Wonsan before my time runs out, but we will have to see. My lack of connected Horses is a slight pain, since they would give me additional mobility, but it's probably best that I sink my hammers into tougher troops for now.

Best regards,

From HRE to the CoW:
Quote:Dear Friends and Allies,

We need your advice.
India asked for a NAP untill turn 105... we'd like to agree, but that means that we'll join the war 5 turns after it starts.
Is that an option? If not, we'll work on a plan to not accept the NAP , but that takes a lot more thought...

Please give us your opinions fast!

Kind regards,
Nakor of HRE

Response from Rome:
Quote:Nakor,

It may be more important to try and keep Sullla/Speaker in the dark than to stick strictly to the schedule. Perhaps you can accept it, and we push back the operation by 5 turns, unless Jowy detects that they are working on a nasty bit of research. No one should sign a NAP longer than Turn 105, though. Turning it down might be more dangerous to our plans in the long-run.

-Whosit, Galactic Emperor

Response from Greece:
Quote:Hey, I think you should ask for Turn 100 NAP. Mine ends at Turn 95 or 96. I think I can stall for 4-5 turns before our attack, but definately not 9-10 Why turn 100? That's when we're attacking, and they won't get suspicious that you'd ask for same turn ending as me.

And a tacked on note from Greece:
Quote:+ In addition of my suggestion, if you really don't think they'll buy it, then just accept the NAP and gift your units to Mali at like Turn 99. Anyway it's important that in any case they don't go on defense mode too soon.

RE: Jowy, I think it's kinda gamey to accept an NAP with the full knowledge that you are going to gift your units to another player with the express purpose of attacking them while the NAP is in effect. Of course it could be totally within the rules - that's just my take on it.

Not that it changes the morals or anything of it, but just so we're clear, what Jowy is referring to is the HRE accepting an NAP with India until T105 and gifting an army to Mali on T99 to Mali so Mali can attack India T100.

My thoughts on it all:

Personally I'm against gifting an army to somebody so they can attack a team you have an NAP with. However in my limited experience in the PBEM and partial lurking of the RBPB1 it does not break the NAP. Provisions like that seem to need to be specified when you agree to the NAP. Again personally that seems silly to me but that's my understanding of how diplomacy appears to work.

Although heaven knows we're willing to change rules mid-stream (yes, I'm still bitter), this is also my understanding. In RBP1 I have seen NAP deals that include ROP, gifting units, etc.
