Rome to our 3some for lack of a better name at the moment. On that note any lurker that wants to suggest a name by all means go ahead smile.

E-mail:
Quote:Dear Athlete, Kalin and Jowy,

Just to keep my allies in the loop, I have begun peace negotiations with the Koreans. It looks like I will get some concessions from them, including one of their cities. Because talks have just begun, I cannot confirm what will exchange hands, but I am fairly certain that hostilities will end soon. While I could theoretically fight on, it would drain my resources and distract from the mission ahead. Besides, picking up two cities with no troop losses isn't such a bad deal.

Although it need not be said, this should be kept between us until a treaty is officially signed.

Best regards,

Whosit, Galactic Emperor

Our response:
Quote:Dear Whosit,

This is very good news! Congratulations on waging such a successful
war. I think our alliance has a very bright future, with all members
getting well positioned.

We really appreciate for keeping us in the loop. Things have been
quite busy for us, and I realized we forgot to mention to you that the
Koreans asked us for help. They also asked to ask the Incas (whom they
have not met) for help as hell. We politely refused.

Best,
Kalin for Team A/K of the Ottomans

Kalin I read the draft to Greece, approved and sent it off.

Quote:Hi Jowy,

We sent our troops in small batches to avoid detection. This way if one or two troops are seen we can pretend we are scouting. In principle we plan to hug the coast to minimize the chance of being seen.

We'd like to gift you the 2 chariots this turn. Unfortunately I already gifted you one by mistake smile Seriously speaking, I moved one chariot and was left with no moves. I wanted to test if I could still gift it to you, so I pressed the gift button, expecting a prompt: "Do you really want to gift?". Much to my surprise, when I clicked the button the chariot became yours. Sorry about this, I hope it's ok. This being said, we'd like to gift you the other chariot, to better hide the gift. We just finished one HA this turn and we whipped, so our power should stay somewhat flat, while yours would increase by 2 chariots. Let us know what you think.

It's probably best not to gift you the HAs yet. That would be harder to hide and as you said, if India sees Greek HAs they'll know immediately something is not right.

> I was under the impression that we'd get the units free, now that we're part
> of the CoW alliance in which everyone was supposed to contribute! Though I
> don't mind making you some workers for free after the war, afterall we are
> allies nowadays wink

Let us clarify this. We were a bit unsure how to proceed: we both promised you units in a deal for workers, and we also promised we would contribute units under the CoW. As such, we tried to account for both by proposing the above. We didn't want to appear that we wanted to back off a deal with you. Also, we didn't want to put any pressure on you, as we understand your situation, which is why we said that you could give us the workers whenever you could. This was the context.

You are right, however: not only we are in the CoW, but we are in a close alliance and we want to help you. We will give you whatever troops we end up gifting for free without any preconditions, so no worry about that. We'll also keep some, because we would like to both have a real presence in the war (as part of the CoW) and we would like to have visibility so that we can discuss together the tactical situation. It will be very important to coordinate as we can only bring mounted units in time, which will be very vulnerable to spears. We recommend concentrating on Phalanxes as they have no counter until HAs, but throw in a spear or two just in case.

Here's a suggestion to hide a troop buildup: you can build a spear within 1T to completion, then switch to an axe and build within 1T to completion, then whip the axe and put the overflow in a chariot, then whip the spear and put the overflow in an axe. This way you get 2 axes, 1 spear, and 1 chariot in 4 turns! I don't know if you knew about this, but here it is.

Please let us know how your research is looking like and what's your ETA for construction.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Best,
Kalin for Team A/K of the Ottomans

P.S.: This is important. Please rename the chariots when you get them! The names could give away the source smile

Kalin,

Played most of the remainder of the turn. Took out that barb axe and escaped unscathed YaY! Also Wyron Serper is now at 5/5 XP. He should take quickest path to Greece now so he makes it on time. By my count I don't think Hobbie will have time to heal fully but that might depend as well on what we do with Wicket (the worker at Istanbul). Anyways we'll discuss more.

Why don't you rename the chariots before you gift them? Prevent any unneeded screwups.

This would seem simplest. Kalin it is very unlikely I will be able to play the turn until near the end of the timer so feel free to take the remaining steps when you can. Given Greece's response (posted below) I believe it's ok to gift the remaining chariot. Rename it first though smile. I believe that's everything for this turn. I'd like to hear from Jowy on India's units around his territory before we move any of the HA's into Greece land.

Greece's e-mail to us:
Quote:Hey Athlete,

Alright. The gifting didn't really show in my power graph, unless it's added next turn. That troop build up sounds like a good idea, I'll probably use that just before the attack. I'm 1 turn off maths, then it'll take 4 turns for masonry and 21 for construction at current rate. Haven't really had much time setting up cottages with this whole military mission going on smile

I'll send some Indian intel to all of CoW now.

E-mail from Greece to CoW:
Quote:Greeting Allies!

I hope the preparations are going well. I have some Indian intel to share. Firstly they currently have Monarchy queued as next research. It seems they've gone 1 turn 100% gold, then 1 turn 100% research for the last ten turns or so. Now they've been on 100% gold for two turns, probably saving enough for Monarchy or whatever they're aiming for next. Secondly their power graph has been steadily raising just at the same rate as mine. Although I took time to make some double-speed granaries and stuff, it's still worrying that they're creating troops at the same rate as myself. Anyway they'll be no match to our combined power, so in that regard everything's still going great.

Sorry about confusing you with the Rome landing. Anyway I think we've got pretty much two choices now. Myself and Ottomans will attack Chancelorsville, which is a core city on flatland. Now either Mali, HRE and Rome will all attack their eastern city, which is on flatland and near coast, or we'll have Rome attack that one and Mali/HRE going for their capital. It's a risky move going for the capital, but if we defeat it then we've already won. Tell me what do you guys think about that.

Response from Rome to CoW:
Quote:Dear Friends and Allies,

Based on Jowy's intel, I'm going to guess that Sullla/Speaker are continuing their growth-oriented strategy. Monarchy will let them raise their happy cap, which means bigger and more productive/wealthy cities. Also note that they must have Masonry, since they teched Monotheism, so it's possible that they may throw up walls in a pinch. My Scout, Bib Fortuna, is doubling back through Killer Angel territory, but it looks like they are building a balanced army: Axemen, Spearmen, Chariots. So mixed unit types will be necessary to win.

As for Jowy's plan, it's worth a shot, but in the event that Gettysburg is too tough to crack, I wouldn't waste units by sending them to their death. Pillaging the country side should suffice in the short-term while some of us tech Construction for Catapults.

Although I ought to have the early tech tree memorized, Monarchy leads to Feudalism, correct? Should we worry about seeing Longbowmen, too?

To victory,

Didn't notice but we received an e-mail from the Inca:

Quote:Hi guys,

I'm just wondering how soon you guys are planning to take the barbarian city, and more importantly whether I should worry about more of them coming my way from that direction. Is there anything you can share?

Thanks,

Sent a message off to Greece and there's a draft ready for the Inca (Kalin if you can edit/send when you get a chance please smile ):

Quote:Hi Jowy,

I believe the graphs reflect 2 turns after the fact so I think we're ok there. Also if you could let us know where/if any Indian units are in your territory as we move through so we can avoid detection that would be great. Specifically our HA's our E of Corinth's borders. If we move the HA's into your borders next turn will there be any danger of being seen? I believe they need to heal so they could spend a turn or 2 healing.

E-mail off to the Inca:
Quote:Hi Dsplaisted,

I don't think you need to worry about anything coming your way, the
barb city would prevent new barb spawns on that side. However we won't
have any unit around for the next several turns in that area. We plan
to take the barb city as soon as we can. We expect that to happen
sometime between turns 90 and 95.

We know we didn't start our interaction in the best way possible, but
we hope to improve on that going forward.

Some communications with Greece:
Quote:I confirm that the graphs are 1T delayed. The power increase should
show next turn. The demographics screen however updates immediately.

Jowy, can you please confirm that we can gift you the other chariot?

Regarding construction, it's good news that your are 1T from Maths!
You'll get some discount so it will take less than the 21 turns you
see right now!

Quote:Hi,

Feel free to gift me the other chariot. I already warned you about their scouting warrior, who is now somewhere in the fog south of my lands. India said that the warrior is going to scout east. There's no Indian units in my lands or near them that I know of.

~ Jowy

Quote:Done. Our power decreased by 8K this turn, yours should increase by
the same amount. I deleted the name on the second chariot, but not the
first, so you should rename it.

Kalin

Thanks for taking care of this Kalin! Do you think I should send anything in terms of an apology or clarification of what I was asking? He seemed a little annoyed though maybe that's me reading into it. I just don't want to run into India so any notice on a turn by turn basis is great. Also from his reference point we don't have any knowledge of that so it wasn't really helpful. Anyways probably don't need to but just in case you know...
