Okay Turn 140 (1500 AD) save is in and let's see what we have

Borsippa: Musket->Knight
Opis: Musket->Settler (instructions say to queue one up)

In darrell's screenshot from last turn, Kylearan's garrison of AcornArchimedes had:
* 3 longbows
* 1 knight
* 1 HA
* 7 pikes
* 2 axes
* 2 holkans

I check the garrison this turn and it is the same. Okay. My instructions say to "move the muskets / cats / pikes to orange dot", so I do so, and move 2 of the workers to pink dot.

I notice that darrell has a Great Engineer, but I have been left no instructions as to what to do with him. With the tech pace of our neighbors (cough, cough, Krill), it seems unlikely that we'll have tech parity enough to rush any kind of wonder, so my thought would be to kick off a golden age, and why not do it sooner rather than later? The only other thing I would think would be a crucial National Wonder, if one exists that hasn't been built yet (Oxford? Though we don't even have Edu)

Maybe he'll read this post and comment. We're at about 180 bpt. We have 893 beakers left in PP, plus 1567 for RP and 2090 for Rifling. So we're looking at about 14-15 turns to Rifling.

Shouldn't I save him for Mining, inc?

Golden age sounds fine...what civics am I in? Probable want mercantilism, maybe need banking.

Okay here goes the battle of AcornArchimedes! I'm not entirely sure this is going to work, but I do note that the garrison is still the same, so here goes nothing!

Cat attacks longbow. As instructed, with a LB defending, I promote to Barrage 2. Gets in 2 hits, dropping him to 4.6/6
Cat attacks El Cloner the longbow, dying with no damage
Cat attacks El Cloner again, getting one hit
El cloner defends vs. the 4th cat again, this time getting 3 hits in
Last cat promotes to barrage 1.

Here's where we're at after the catting

[Image: civ4screenshot0000zq.jpg]

Okay there are 7 pikes left in various stages of health, and I have 17 knights to attack.

I promote the first to C1 Shock - he has 25.7% odds and.... dies without scratching the pike frown
Next guy gets the same and somewhat makes up for it - winning @ 25.7%!
C1 shock knight vs. 5.2/6 pike @ 25.7% - dies, wounding
C1 shock knight vs. 4.8/6 pike @ 42.4% - win!
C1 shock knight vs. 4.6/6 pike @ 44.8% - loss

At this point, C2 knights get pikes, and C1 shock knights get longbows
C2 knight vs. 4.0/6 pike @ 66.3% - loss
C2 knight vs. pike @ 68% - win

Now even the C2 knights get longbows
C2 knight vs. injured CG2 lonbgow @ 68% - loss
C1 shock knight vs. injured pike @ 74% - loss banghead
C2 knight vs. injured knight @ 88% - win
C2 knight vs. axe @ 89% - win

C2 knights now get holkans, and C1 shock knights get longbow
C1 shock knight vs. longbow @ 94.8% - win
C1 shock knight (finally) kills Elk Cloner @ 95.1% - win
C1 shock knight vs. holkan @ 90% - win
C2 knight vs. axe @ 95% - win
no promo musket vs. injured longbow @ 95% - win
C1 shock knight vs. injured pike @ 92% - win
C1 shock kniht vs. holkan @ 99% - win
C2 knight vs. pike @ 99% - win
no promo knight vs. pike @ 97% - win
no promo knight vs. HA @ 99% - win
no promo knight vs. last pike @ 99% - win and

So odds say I should have won 16.72 of those 22 battles and in reality I won 16 - so odds just about in line with expected.

Okay after consulting with darrell, we kept the city.

Renamed to "LebronJames", it's currently garrisoned with 4 muskets, 2 pikes, 1 knight and 1 HA.

I'm going to hold off on using the engineer for the GA until next turn so I can be sure to get Banking by the end of it.

Also kylearan revolted to Nationhood and his golden age is now over.

Well that is bad news (Nationhood) but good news on the victory! Thanks for executing the brilliant plan I laid out before you. He'll probably kill all my units, not sure if keeping the city was brilliant but eh.

Probably need to draft another round of Muskets, to reinforce the city. I'd also love to get a sentry unit in there.

Uhh...

We may need to rethink that plan boss

(Note the superflous bashing of our stack after he already took the city). We have maybe 5 knights left on that tile which I will pull back. Any other brilliant plans? alright

T-hawk, from the email thread Wrote:Took a bit longer to play than I expected, but sent to Krill.

Hmm...maybe we should have razed the city. A sentry unit would have helped.

Still draft. Probably want to pull the Knights from sunrise089 border back. Opis appears to be in dire straights, should draft there every turn I guess, and position our Knights SW of refounded capital (can he two movd any cities in our central core?).

As I go through my duties of updating yet ANOTHER (lol) spoiler thread, I finished off the turn and sent it on.

Pulled back the injured knights back to Erech. Drafted in Erech, Opis and Akkad. Moved 2 knights from the sunrise front back this way.

Held off on the Golden Age if we're going to be drafting much. Also started building some cats.

Erech (former capital I think) can be hit from 2 movers in AcornArchimedes. Moved one of our 2 (!) pikes from Opis this way.

I also started trying to improve the darrell-esque road network
