FFH PBEM XV Organizing/Tech Thread

Huh, looks like I was wrong, and there is still room for me here. I'd like to try another EitB game, especially if it's set up so I don't see 17 axes on my border on T55 smile. I like Bob's maps in general, just have to go into it with an open mind. I'd like some idea of what map concept we're looking at before picking civs/settings. Um...v6? v7? What's Sareln up to at the moment?

Assuming this doesn't start until Sunday at the earliest, of course; I'll have intermittent internet between now and then.

I won't play Pitboss; I think I'm generally pretty good at keeping the turn moving, but every once in a while I have an issue and would hate to lose a turn/have a reload argument.

I'm still working out the concept in my head, but right now it's looking like a very large continent, fairly wide-spaced starts (going off the request for a more builder-oriented game), and probably a few islands of some variety just because I like them (also trade routes). I might ban OO if the map thread consensus is that they'd be too powerful (darrell said I could).


I'll pre-add some barbs, but none that should be able to eliminate anyone- that's no fun. They won't be special Orcs if the Clan are in the game, so don't get any ideas nonolol

Is anyone other than me interested in doing an Advanced Start? (if not I'm fine with a regular start, but I think it would be a fun change to the usual opening)

Uh, just to be clear, I'm only making the map for one game. If someone wants to use the same map for the EitB game that's fine, but it'll be someone who knows how to change all of the civs & leaders to fit player preferences after I've already set the game up.

I'll start work on the map after I have all choices in for civs & game options (like difficulty level, barbs raging or not, orthus, etc.- unless you want me to decide for you).

Yeah I thought about that. I plan on making Krill do the changes because he's a big baby and won't play in the actual game. I assume the map will work with or without the mod.

Before I commit to leader/civ choices, I'd like to get some game settings nailed down. lol (a screenie of the start position would also be nice. smile )

My Votes:

Orthus/Acheron: OFF FFS!
Living World: ON
Raging Barbs/Wildlands: ON
Game Difficulty: Monarch, but no strong preference here
Game Speed: Normal if Prince or below, Quick otherwise
Diplo: AI DIPLO (you can propose deals, but no messages either in or out of game)
Map Trading: Given AI Diplo/CTON this pretty much has to be post-Cartography for obvious reasons. wink
Tech Trading: OFF
Banned civs/leaders: NONE
Disabled Religions: COE or NONE (I'm fine with either)
Advanced Start: Yes. Number of points to spend.....we can squabble about that if we decide to go that route. wink
Other funky stuff: I'm open to suggestions. smile

I'm going to hand-draw the entire thing (so it'll take a while), and for the sake of convenience I'm not going to start on it until I have everyone's picks so that I can start the game with the correct civs already selected.


Right now I only need your and Mack's picks.
