Another land mass in the east. I guess this means I need to prioritize also Sailing.

Not much better. At least Whales can be improved with Sailing in RBmod.

Played the turn a while ago. Scouting SW-SW didn't bring up any new resources so no screenshot. However there seems to be a bit more land in the east. Serdoa has grown his capital already to size 5. Might be planning to whip settler or have many good tiles to work.

I've been trying to figure out what to do from here. No desicions yet. 2nd city position is the next big desicion I need to make. Currently I'm planning to put my 2nd city NW from Corn mainly to go towards the direction that seems the best for early Exansion and still collects the Corn in 1st ring. It also has few hills to pick that is pretty important in RBmod that has made whipping significantly weaker. Where would you place 2nd city?

I've also been thinking about a bit longer term. Do I want to try some early wonder or focus on Expansion at this point. Main wonder candidates are Oracle + GLH. Stonehenge would also be nice, but I'm fairly certain I've no chance to get it. Other early ones I'm not giving a serious thought at this point.

Concerning Oracle, I would try to get Marble hooked either settling on it or allocating significant worker force to improve it. I don't like the fact I would need to research up to Priesthood early when there are no religions to grab anymore so I probably won't try. Realistically without cribbling the expansion too much I could get Oracle ~T60.

GLH would be nice, but very expensive I need 60 hammers for Lighthouse and 200 for GLH. Eventually I want Lighthouse in my capital so that wouldn't be a waste, but I do think I need get up to 5-6 cities before I should try it and it is probably too late then (~T70). I think also in this game MoM will be 1st wonder that I'll try actively grab. The route there could potentially give +2 happiness (Whales+Incense) so I could skip Monarchy temporarily. This route also enbales the shot at GLH in case it hasn't landed when I would be ready to grab it Probably the turn I get to Mathematics, but I won't expect to actually get it.

So it looks a lot like tech path will be something like this:
BW-Pottery-Sailing-AH-Writing-Maths-Calendar

Potentially at some point Archery. No self founded religion for me in this game it seems. It wasn't a big problem in PB8 so I think it will work alright also here. Only option will probably be bulbed Philo at some point.

Trying to land Judaism and Oracle might be worth a try after this.

Nice! How about city #2 on the grassland hill S-S-SE of the capital? Splits off the fish until the corn is ready to go. Has a couple of river grassland tiles to cottage and plenty of forests to chop.

I agree that a fish/corn city down south looks good. It's also quite close to the capital to allow effective tile-swapping among the two cities, and you can dedicate one of the two to building exploratory boats.

Southern city is definately a good one, but I don't think it makes the best candidate as my 2nd city. It has 2 major weaknesses. I need to pop borders to get corn online meaning improving it will be delayed some 15-20 turns and it is in the backyard towards Serdoa i.e. There would be longer supply lines to support our land claim towards Serdoa.

Also that corn is not irrigated meaning 1 less food than the northern site provides and I'm building a road that would lead towards gold that also helps the 2nd city, if it would be in the north.

There were couple of cities settled last turn and WilliamLP did settle this turn. Most players haven't yet played this turn. I can settle my city exactly the turn settler is finished. South is looking even better.

The problem, as I see it, with settling for the NE corn, is that there are no other good tiles up there.
