In order to make the game happy, I selected Mining/another Quechua (I assume that we're putting hammers into something to size 3, then working our best tiles for a Settler? Second Worker seems redundant at this point), but didn't move either of our units or do anything else.
Yep, no worries. If you want to prevent that happening, I *think* there's an option in the menu that delays all pop-ups until the end of the turn (I can't remember the exact phrasing, and don't feel like you have to change it on my behalf).

Yeah, I clicked 'enter' last turn and realized immediately after that Eikad's shifted his EP back to us. It'll probably take a couple of turns to get graphs back.
Speaking of Eikad, we've located his southern culture:
I think it's likely he's moved onto the large Sea-Lake that we're circling. Next turn, I'll take some pictures so we can work out exactly where his capital is in relation to ours.
We're going to need to rush a bit to grab any contested spots. Luckily Quechas should nix any thoughts he has about Archer rushing us (and I don't think we should Archer rush him). Being Expansive, we have a head-start on pushing out.
I do have a small theory about the map. I think there are four groups of three players, with capitals close to one another but a large amount of backfill each. Could Greenline have been lazy in assigning starting positions according to the snake pick, i.e. :
1. Borsche - Mehmed II of Carthage
2. Gawdzak/Chumchu - Julius Caesar of Russia
3. GSorel/DMOC/Ichabod - Genghis Khan of Zulu
4. Nicolea Carpathia - Brennus of Korea
5. Elkad - Asoka of Sumeria
6. DTG/picklepikkl - Mao Zedong of Inca
7. OT4E - Bismark of Ottomans
8. wetbandit/ipecac - Winston Churchill of China
9. StarDoor - Shaka of Arabia
10. dcodea - Joao II of Khmer
11. NylesStandish - Wang Kon of Aztecs
12. pindicator - Suryavarman II of India
