[SPOILERS] FFH II PBEM I Lurker Discussion Thread- No Players Allowed!

pocketbeetle Wrote:Hold on a second, do my eyes deceive me or do those mercenaries now all have at least 1 movement point? [Image: icon_look.gif] That’s not meant to happen!
You’re not supposed to be able to hire instant units and then attack on the same go. Yes there are summons that mages can call, but these are typically balanced by being weaker, unable to use metal weapons and tied to a particular unit that requires a significant hammer (vampires) or time (mages) investment.
Since I consider the above slightly exploitative, I’m going to try and avoid using it in this game.
Players in other FFH games might want to think about discussing it though…

To me this doesn't sound at all out of line with everything else you can do with haste, such as:
* Getting two turns of production out of the one worker.
* Similarly two turns of mana node improvement from one adept.
* Moving on to a jungle hill with a 1 move unit, then casting haste, then moving to another jungle hill.
* Moving workers to a jungle/desert/whatever tile, hasting, then roading all in a single turn (which is basically a mix of the above).

I would have called this clever not an exploit. Do others think differently?

I agree. Allowing mercenaries to attack on the same turn they're hired isn't that big a deal. Mercenaries are pretty pricey at 180 gold so they're only really tempting to production-limited civs like the Kuriotates.

If anything, I think Nox Noctis should fall under the 'exploit' category. A shrine that makes all your units within your borders invisible, and which cannot be countered - not by hawks, recon units, or even Empyrean spells? Bob's having a hard enough time invading as it is; can you imagine how much harder it would be if PB could place Hemah + his 35 centaur stack anywhere in his territory without fear of counterattack? I'm surprised no one has discussed it further in Bob's thread or when setting up the other FFH PBEMs.

Gaelan does work in the O patch, no idea about N though.

Too bad the second Gaelan event requires you to lose a Happy. If PB doesn't realize what it is, I doubt he'll take it...

If Selrahc doesn't finally get his act together and stops supporting PB this game will soon be over. But I guess S. has still not realised how far ahead and dangerous PB really is.

Selrahc literally has no choice, ever since Bob made is clear that he has been wanting to go after Selrahc rather than PB since quite a long time ago.

If Selrahc doesn't support PB, he'll lose anyway to a horde of vampires once Bob takes over PB's land...

OR

PB will win Bob anyway, then destroy Selrahc.

And how should that come to pass? I can't imagine a szenario where Bob wins so clearly vs PB that he can threaten Selrahc afterwards .

I can't remember if BCAGamer's a dedlurker, but surely revealing it as a Circle of Gaelen event is not something he should reveal to pb, even in spoiler tags?

I don't understand why he should not tell that. Imo it is a game-mechanic, not spoiler-knowledge. PB didn't ask about the game-mechanic of chain-events but I wouldn't ask either because till now I didn't even know that they exist.
