Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

@novice: Thanks for the heads up!

Ok, so our stack got attacked! It looks we fared rather well: on our side, we lost a HA, but killed 2 chariots and 2 archers. It looks like Speaker attacked with weaker troops to injure the HAs. On Jowy's side I saw 1 spear and 2 phalanxes injured, so I assume he killed 3 things. India has 3 injured HAs, so I think they killed 2 of Jowy's troops, probably phalanxes.

I also had a very brief chat with Speaker who came across as... let's say excessively confident. He started with something like: "If you sign peace right now your HAs will be spared". When I said I'd have to discuss such thing with Athlete, he said something like he promises that our HAs will get killed blah blah blah. I guess he was just posturing and trying to intimidate but I didn't like it.

I also had a good chat with Whosit. I suggested he gifts Fred'burg to Jowy if he takes it. That's good for all of us: Jowy will have more incentive to help against the Incas, and our land partition with Greece may shift a bit...

Will come back with more details and some screenshots soon.

K so here's a pic of what happened on T101 for the lurkers:

Our 2 HA's that can promote will promote to Combat II and our stack will move SW and heal next turn.

What's your take on the situation?

Mine personally is India seems a bit over confident. Though at this particular point in time they can still deal a lot of damage. They still have a great stack holed up in Chancellorsville and are probably overconfident because they don't know 2 more are yet to declare on them. I suspect they'll attack out at our stack again next turn. T103 if we have even one 2-mover left we'll be able to pillage their horse. That's the most important thing right now.

If Hampton Roads is still empty and Shiloh is empty like Hampton Roads is then T102 I'll take Shiloh with Ellorrs Madak and T103 I think both Greece and us will have a chariot in place to take Hampton Roads. The caveat is that India can move 2-movers between Chancellorsville and Hampton Roads and the chariots will be seen coming so Hampton could be whipped and a chariot or an HA added to Hamptons defence so it won't fall.

The big thing we need to do is get their horses pillaged, rely on Mali to distract them slightly so we don't get totally killed off and hold off for the HRE to join in and eventually Rome. I think we'll need atleast a 2nd wave to really put a dent into India, and perhaps a 3rd from atleast Mali/Greece for the final nail in the coffin.

So here's an overview at the end of T102 (where the game is paused currently):

I believe the plan is we'll have to sacrifice Dack Ralter to pillage the horses next turn and the rest of the stack will move 1S to the hill. We'll spend some time healing and/or possibly withstand being attacked while waiting on Mali to join their stack with ours.

Shiloh (the city next to Mali's stack) is empty now so Mali should be able to take that next turn.

I can not wait until the HRE and Rome join in. Things will look a lot better then!

Kalin,

Coruscant is currently working the plains hill rather than the grass hill for growth in 4. Do we want that extra turn of research now? Or do we want 3 turns of research into currency as opposed to 4 so we can get the settler out 1 turn sooner? What do you think?

Lurkers for your clarification we're going max research until we triple whip a settler. The question above just means do we triple whip after 3 turns or 4?

Hey Athlete,

I am not sure about the growth both options seems fine. However, I noticed that both our galleys are very far away! Getting the settler out too soon doesn't seem useful. Should we make another city on the main landmass? Should we come back with the galley by India? I think Piri Reis will take some 8 turns to come back, but that galley by India should go pillage the fish, then maybe blockade.

Is your galley empty or are there a few pillaging/razing 'berserkers' inside ?

edit : thks Ruff_hi, I wish I had a bit more time to play (and then it would have been very obvious to me as wellsmile )

The pic above is his pic. If it had units in it, it would show additional dots. If you see the galley in another Civs screenshot, then they wouldn't see the units (if any).
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Kalin,

You're right about the galley being too far away! I should have moved it in our direction this turn already. Oh well. Given the note about the Inca's from Whosit I believe we shouldn't found that city until we're in a better situation to defend it. Soooo, that would leave this settler to found on the mainland for now. I'd say lets put it between Istanbul and the unfounded "Fish City" right on our city sign ingame. I can easily adjust the plan for the Fish City to account for this and we're going to have lots of workers in the area (especially as we'll be double whipping one out of Istanbul shortly).

What do you think?

Also the one galley by India should go pillage the crabs and then pick up our chariot in the area. The other galley should head back to our territory to help transport a couple units over to India maybe? Regardless of what he does he should still come back now I believe.
