Hey Athlete,

If we make a city on the mainland we should make that spot between Endor and Istanbul that gets copper, horse, wheat, and lots of river. The other option is the S city by the Incas. If/when their holy city expands we'll lose that spot...

I am not concerned about being able to defend the city on the Incan island btw. It's hard to defend, but also hard to attack, since an attacker would need to ferry troops. The reason I'd postpone it just a bit is because if we don't want the settler to wait for the galley. But we should definitely take the spot asap. On second thought, we may just wait for the galley and make it. I am not sure here, let's keep discussing.

I think that both galleys should indeed come back, that by India after pillaging the fish and getting our chariot.

Well, then if we're going to have the settler go to the inca island then we might as well wait and only double whip it. That way it's not sitting around doing nothing and we get more turns of research in. I think that's probably the best bet.

Where is this island settlement you're planning?
I have to run.

Sorry I forgot to turn the resource locator on so the blue dots/lines are fishes. Everything else you should be able to see.

The red dot is where the city was originally intended to be founded. It grabs a fish, wheat and copper. Recent exploration has led to some alternatives here. There's a city sign by Kalin in the screenshot that grabs just about everything except the fish.

There's also a spot at the very top of the screen that I'd like to found beside the wines that grabs one of the fish, however that's way down the road.

I think we need to fully explore that Island and dot map it appropriately before making a final decision as to where the first settlement should go there.

I agree. However let's keep in mind that we may not get an easy chance for a second city on the island, so I think that we should make the strongest city possible first. Later if other site(s) are available, then we can make additional cities. Also the other cities can have some overlap, that's ok. Given all this, I think that the spot I indicated is probably best, unless there are additional resources in the fog.

Well! I reworked the great lighthouse plan and I can land it by T123 in our fish city while timing the settler out of coruscant and pulling a worker away from it perfectly with our galley to go settle the Incan island. I love when things just fall into place!

I'll post the plan later. I'm off to bed.

I didn't want to post this in the public thread to avoid giving away too much information. My biggest issue with a spoiled lurker is knowledge of the diplomatic situation. I could accept a lurker with knowledge of the map, but not of the diplomacy. I put a lot of effort and energy into the diplomatic game and I feel that all that would be ruined by a spoiled lurker. For example, how would a spoiled lurker play knowing of the alliance with Whosit and our project to attack Inca together.

I hope this explains my position a bit better.

I actually didn't know about your divide and conquer agreement over the Incan lands until I read this post. Now your position in the e-mail thread makes a lot more sense smile. Ironically, your best spoiled lurker bet is one who is reading Sulla's thread exclusively. Even if they are a sycophant, at least they don’t have pre-knowledge of your planned Incan invasion.

Darell, thanks for this post. I don't read India's thread, so does Twinkletoes qualify for the conditions above? smile And yes, that agreement to divide Inca's lands was in the works for a while, and I also hope to convince Jowy to help given that we helped in his war and have an alliance.

I'm only reading your thread and Sulla's thread (and the spoilers thread) so I don't know what other players' threads twinkle toes might be reading. I do know that he is reading the spoilers thread (still), but can't recall if the Incan land divide has been brought up there. I'd assume it has to be safe...
