Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[SPOILER] Catherine of Maya - Greens - Kyan

Biggest news of the turn is Seifer has met me. Strike told me he had a unit around so i'm not too surprised. He also has only two cities. His warrior is no real threat and he's a long way away so i won't suggest a NAP for now but if he requests one, i will be happy to sign. He's not my neighbour so there will be no fighting for land between us anytime soon.

Shows the position of his warrior. No real biggie. I could try and direct him back around the mountain pass to the east but i'm not too worried. Let him scout if he wants.

My cities:

Note that all pictures were taken at end of turn so, whilst they have grown, the respective tiles that would actually be improved by end of turn, are currently showing as unimproved.

Kyaen (capital)

Amazing capital. The tile marked 'cottage' is actually fully developed now and i'm working that rather than the 3H forest hill. I will focus on commerce here for sure with the copper and cows being super useful in allowing me to at least build the basic infrastructure needed.

Orennaí Manor

Another great site. Will be a good commerce/hammer hybrid. Initially focusing on hammers as the two riverside grass hills now have completed mines. This will be cottaged up to use the insane amount of riverside grassland it has.

Marshall Mines

A great production city. I will initially focus on getting it's food up and running. The pastured sheep is actually completed. After that i'll hook up the silver and get the mines going. This city will be a major factor for us in this game.

Twinkletopolis

Cows are now improved. Borders pop the turn after. Will get the corn improved and being to cottage the hell out of this land. Will get the riverside grass hill mined ASAP to give it some hammers to work with (did i mention how much i LOVE riverside grass hills? Likely. Often.)

Tech currently on 0% at Maths. Would require 2 turns of 0% before 100% for 7 turns if we pursue this. Other options are Masonry, hunting and monarchy.

All of which we'll want in shortish order. I personally think maths first because there are so many darned forests! Whilst we are then manually teching towards the other things we can chop out a few more workers and settlers. Grab masonry and get our stone hooked up. Throw in a hanging gardens and bob's your uncle- we're in a crazily dominant position.

Just imagine if we can get out to at LEAST city 6 before rushing out the Hanging Gardens in Marshall Mines or Kyaen?

This will give us the enviable position of having a prophet in shortish order for the shrine from Orennaí followed by a later engineer (which we can speed up as we're oracling metal casting). We can then use this engineer as we see fit. Rush pyramids? Save for Great Library?

The options are endless and enviable. Ooh, new idea. We could use the engineer points to rush pyramids preventing us from needing to tech monarchy at all... We have furs and a religion in the meantime for happiness anyhoo.

Do you agree with Maths next Maniac? Or would you prefer Monarchy for the happiness or even Hunting (which we can do in 1t) as there are furs in Twinkletopolis and it unlocks our holkans. Lurkers, what are your thoughts?

He chose it himself.

It's not optimal normally but i'm slow building the oracle and would like to keep the great person points seperate so i can TRY and guarantee my first two great people will be a prophet and an engineer.

Also, we played ANOTHER turn already. Nothing too exciting happened though 3/4 cities grow again next turn. Twinkletopolis' borders popped. Creative on quick speed is insane.

Sent seifer this:

Kyan Wrote:Greetings,

Welcome to the mighty Mercenary Empire. I hope you find your trip pleasant. I was unable to locate the correct diplomatic channels to contact yourself so i hope, for now this will suffice.

If you could enlighten me as to where i can send my messengers for future reference, this would be most appreciated. (your email pal. Mine is kyanrbpb3@gmail.com).

I have contact with a couple of other civilizations already but i have been informed of your impending arrival and i am glad to find you well. My contacts thus far are with the Chinese and the Ottomans. Both of which you have met.

If there is anything i can do to assist you, please don't hesitate to ask. Maybe directions? Unfortunately, the land under my dominion appears to be expanding fairly rapidly so i am happy to provide you with the best course around. Perhaps you would like directions towards the Chinese?

Yours,

Kyan

I actually PM'd it to him because i couldn't find his email address in the crazy IT thread.

Ilios, the next 3 city names are decided but i'm thinking that the ones after that can go to my most dedicated lurkers. I'll keep a track whose posted in my thread and those with most can assist me in naming a city in their honour.

I'd say you could do with a little more happiness Kyan.

I find that a cap of 5 doesn't give much room for whipping and growing at the same time.

Spamming cities for max Hanging Gardens benefits seems like a great strategy.

For 'my' city, Swissikon has a nice ring to it smile

Perhaps Swissica (sounds a bit like Ithica)? If it was a cottage heavy city you could have Swiss Cheese lol!
