Any updates? Is the game proceeding smoothly? Has Seven wiped us out yet?

Nope, not going smoothly. I just settled a city last turn, and he immediately declared war and razed it (used a chariot to kill the axe guarding it). And he dared to offer a Peace Treaty right after doing so. I haven't really been spending much time thinking about the game the past couple weeks, so obviously I've totally screwed things up. I'll try to get myself to post an update tomorrow night. Don't really feel up to it tonight.

You're doing better than I would be--I would have left RB after BS such as that. There's no incentive for Seven to be ****ing with you like that, unless he's stuck on a peninsula--have you met anyone else to the south?

Figured it was time for the LONG overdue report of how badly I'm now doing (though at least not the worst). smile

First, here's the layout of the land....

The new city down in the south I just resettled last turn. This is the one that I had settled, which seven razed with a Chariot he had nearby. This time I made sure to have an Axe/Spear there (though we're still in Peace Treaty, so he couldn't immediately raze it again anyway).
I've been working on a Settler in the north, and he'll settle that backfill spot for the Cows/Sheep. I was tempted to settle it one tile to the East so it would be on the coast, but I thought having it on the river might be better. If you have any compelling reasons I might want to settle 1E of my marked spot, let me know.
Barcelona will make it's worker in 3 turns, and then likely immediately switch to another Settler to go settle that southern desert tile in my SE. I'd like to make my way towards the Stone/Marble spot.
After Madrid finishes it's Granary (yes, my capital is only just now building a granary LOL), it'll start churning out military to protect these new cities.
The rest of them I don't really have any major plans for.

I did just recently get Monarchy so switched to Hereditary Rule, so my cities can finally grow larger than they were previously. It'll be slow going, since I don't have much in the way of food resources.

I kinda really don't have a clue on my research path. I'm doing Aesthetics right now, since I've been thinking of going for one of the wonders it opens up. Iron Working was going to be next for the Gems near my new city in the Jungle, but with Hereditary Rule it's not as much of an immediate need as I originally had.

Now for all the pitiful graphs and charts....

Yup, that's about it for now. Time for some sleep.

How is our GNP so high--that lead can't be all Stonehenge, right?

If anything I'd move "Next city" 1W to get coast--you lose the sheep, but that can go to another city. Where you have it now seems okay at least smile

I feel like my "default" tech path is always to rush to Currency, since it helps you get the rest of the techs faster--IW could work as well. Did Swords get any buffs in TOW, or are they still semi-useless? Do you feel like you need more military techs? If so, Construction is always an option. What wonders were you hoping to get from Aesthetics--was Statue of Zeus changed at all? (and do we have Ivory, both for that and elephants?) Has Colossus fallen yet? Metal Casting seems like it would be a good pairing with PRO--by the way, how many tiles do we have that benefit from it for reference?

I have no idea why my GNP is so high. It's gotta be because of Stonehenge. I do also have a few Libraries built, but right now my research rate is crappy at only 40% so no idea. Might also partially be because my first Great Person ended up being a Scientist and not a Prophet and as such I built an Academy? I'm still annoyed at that actually. I put only 2 turns of working a scientist specialist (so 3% change of GS) and I didn't get the Great Prophet I was hoping for so I could build my shrine. So the shrine has to wait.

Not sure why 1W is a good spot. Puts that many more tiles that have to be shared between those cities. And Seville is already lacking 3 workable tiles due to the Peaks, and having to share with Barcelona. I really need some spots that can grow bigtime with lots of workable tiles. So I think it needs to be either that land-locked spot or on the eastern coast.

I decided going for Aesthetics was probably silly. Not entirely sure why I started it, other than that the wonder I wanted was the Shawadegon Playa (or however it is spelled) to get me access to all the Religion Civics. So I switched it to Currency. I do often go that route too. It'll take forever to get to it, but oh well. Still tempted to switch back to Aesthetics for that wonder...but again, it would just take a long time to build too.

On another note, I'm going away this weekend (starting at 4am tomorrow) and won't be back until late Sunday night. I know tomorrow I won't have the capability to play a turn and the other days are unlikely as well. So if you could play, please do so. At this point...do whatever you think is logical. I don't have any true "plans" so it's not like you'll mess anything up between now and Sunday.

1W is basically the best of both worlds--it's coastal and shares the resources. Generally it's better to share the tiles, so that you can use the tiles--you can look at my PBEM 58 thread to see the exact opposite, where I learned not sharing tiles=very bad.

Oh, you have an Academy too? How many beakers is that giving you, vs how much gold the shrine will give you?

Why would you want the Paya? I don't get why you would want it, unless you want Free Religion (and you wouldn't need that), but I don't get why there's so much focus on the religious part of the game--it provides happiness and culture, but requires a decent amount of investment unless you get lucky spreads (either from an opponent's religion, or if you've founded one).

Sure, I can play--hopefully I can remember though, just make sure to tell me when you're for-sure gone smile

I just played this turn and qued up most moves, so there shouldn't be too much to do. Biggest thing right now is taking care of the barb Axe that's charged it's way into the territory killing one of my axes on it's way. Had to change a couple things around to make sure to get another axe there to hopefully kill it next turn. Barcelona is finishing an axe next turn, with the barb hopefully moving to the tile right next to the city, allowing it to be killed. The new axe will likely die, with the barb being finished off by the spearmen that are there.
I will for sure not be able to play this upcoming turn do to travel.

Okay, I'll keep watch for the turn then smile

T95 has been played, pictures are here
We got really lucky and the axe defeated the barb axe--I put the combat log in the picture folder for your amusement smile

Just make sure to keep me updated on whether you'll be able to play the next turn or not.
