WELL.
That was FAST. I think it was Fenn based on the score jump. Not sure what he did to get it so early without being Industrious. He only got his second city a few turns ago, didn't he? Pretty sure I saw that a few turns ago. I'd have a hard time believing he got Stonehenge while on one city.
(Also Borsche got city 3.)
I guess the one silver lining here is that it happened before I got too invested, but now I need to figure out what to do next. It's probably still prudent to get that copper city going, and I'm really going to have to push expansion... to the best of my limited abilities. I might change tech plan to Fishing > Agri > Pottery instead of skipping Agri.
2nd city shouldn't need border pops fast, so building barracks now would be wasteful. I think I'll do Warrior > Work Boat > Granary? if the timing works out. Copper city will be Barracks first, then Granary (using city 2's work boat). Gonna do some sims to see if capital can go Settler > Settler or if I'll want to do anything else. Might 2-pop whip 2nd settler and let city 3 use the pigs briefly as well. Sigh. What a wrench in my plans, but not a big deal. Bigger problem is probably that my plans suck in the first place.

OK, I have a plan of action, more or less. I'll be moving forward until I'm at 5 cities, where I'll pause a bit to try and grow my capital and 2nd city a bit. "Grow" though I'll be whipping Granaries in before either city gets too large. Hopefully good move. Will also chop an axe out at 2nd city once Copper is connected, just in case.
In my sims I just keep running into that problem of "need more of EVERYTHING last turn" and I don't really know what to do about it.

Turn 38:
Borsche and Wetbandit have cities 3 (joining Yuri with his super fast 3). I'll continue my fine tradition of lagging behind.
Another reason I'll have to pause expansion at city 5 is because cities 3, 4, and 5 are all going to be sizes 1 or 2. City 3 is going to grow slowly because it has no food (it could steal from a neighboring city, might have to do that despite less than ideal tile micro and lacking improved tiles), city 4 starts with only bad food (dry wheat), and city 5 will be very new. And I can't pause too long or I'll be losing out. I wonder if I should only try to grow the capital and keep city 2 (Euphoria) stagnating on Workers or 1-pop whipping units? That might be a better plan than having all my cities build granaries and grow at the same time.

I was thinking that I should probably just abandon all hope of winning (not that I had any) in an attempt to reduce my stress. Not sure how well that goes because I am competitive by nature and reducing my investment will probably decrease my reporting rate. Maybe I should just focus on smaller goals, like killing Dreylin and/or Grimace. I was fretting about my expansion rate, but as luck would have it I started to re-read Com's PB 19 thread and got to the part about turns and cities. So if I get a little time this weekend, maybe I'll see what things look like if I delay cities 4 and 5 in order to develop and grow cities 1 and 2 a little bit more. Because with what I've been doing so far, I've been expanding beyond the worker turns I have to actually improve what I'm settling.

Rough sim plans. Probably won't deviate much unless outside forces do anything. Stuff from mid 50s on might need tweaking later. 5th city comes down too late (mid 60s). Tough balancing growth and whips and all that stuff.
Road to C2 then chop to axe
Mine for capital
2x 1T Warriors/Slaver T43
C2 Warrior > Axe > Worker
Cap Warrior > Worker > Settler
C2 workers: Deer to forest (chop), hill to fur (camp/road)
After chop, worker to c1 to join new worker roading to c4 site
Chop Forest into Barracks (finishes)
T50 same as B
T51: Pottery > Archery
C2: Axe > Granary
C3: Barracks > Granary
T52: 2-pop whip Settler, C2 works cottage
T53: 2 worker plains hill mine Silver worker to c3
T54: 1-pop c1 granary, c3 works deer
T55: c1 granary > archer, 3rd worker finishes wheat farm
T56: C1 takes back deer, 1-pop c2 granary > WB
T58: cottage workers split to forests (c1/c3)

Not much new to show in regards to land or my empire, though I should probably take a screen of that in a couple of turns. Do have demographic information on Grimace now, though. He's not been spending much on me, so either he met Dreylin first or met someone else.
Don't mind the GNP. Just revolting to slavery right now. I kind of wonder about those high production values, though.

Turn, turn, turn again.
Briefly considered attacking the scout, but not high enough odds to justify it. I don't think I'd have much to gain at this point, either.
About to settle a third city that won't even have its own food connected for 15 turns. Maybe the better play would to have just gone for a super early archery? I'll still be picking it up right after pottery as-is. In any case, shitty as this city is (both location and resources), it will keep me safe from Impis.

Turn 45 Report:
New city of Harmony founded. Though relatively close to the capital of Utopia, no trade roads have been dug to this coastal settlement. Instead, traders must take a longer route, first making the journey over land from Utopia to Euphoria, and then a perilous journey by rickety canoes along the coast to Harmony. And then, back again. Few would undertake this but for the fact that Harmony was founded upon a rich deposit of Copper, a mineral vital to the craft of bronze working. Thus, Harmony is a strategically important settlement, though the citizens are forced to sustain themselves by gathering food from the nearby woods.
I'm the first to a third city among my neighbors, and though it sucks, it puts me in the lead for crop yield, at least temporarily. Does jack all for my land area, though. Once it has a Fish and works a few river cottages, it's workin' nothing but coast, baby!
I'm the first to size 5. Whoo. But prepare to get whipped!
Crop yield. I'm not doing too badly, somehow, but I imagine several other players have better snowballs going. As long as I do well compared to my local group however, I'll be happy enough. If all goes according to plan, I'll have my next city in 9 turns.
