By the way, do I see it right that we have 2 huts near the scout? I'd get the souther hut first, then the one NW, and then explore near the silver, because I think it'd be nice to settle there, if possible. Or perhaps we can try to outsmart the mapmakers -> they probably placed some decent food sites near the start and one with commerce/happy, to provide a meaningful decision for the players. So, we should explore far away from the silver, to find the food places. Hm... I guess I'm overthinking it...
I wonder if starts are mirrored... Can we confirm this by demos? Does anyone have an inland Capital? If starts are not mirrored, going for the TGLh as you suggested might be a very good idea. It also fits into the game summary description of the first post: "Sparse updates of a terrible opening and failed attempt at a wonder".
What's the plan for such an early granary? I think it's worth going deeper into the question of growing the city to max size compared to heavily whipping. I don't think our city has a particularly good food surplus (when compared to the usual Capitals) and slavery is nerfed on RtR after all. I wish I had the math skills to make a comparision between the hammers we can generate when we compare a whipping strategy against a grow to happy cap and stay there pumping hammers, but I have no idea where to start such an analysis.
Well, perhaps we can whip some 2/3 settlers early and then focus on growth. It depends on a lot of things after all, like the rate we can improve the tiles near the Capital (no point in growing into unimproved tiles).
