[LURKER THREAD] You're the best around

It's my side project, BEARSXT, which started off as a bit of a joke (adding in my roommate's custom civ), then one thing led to another and I ended up making changes to almost everything smile

Change log? I'm guessing it's with 1000% more bears?

Haha, not quite, we went to UC Berkeley, which featured the Golden Bears as its mascot. A lot of (in hindsight bad) ideas were prefaced with the phrase "Go Bears!"

Changelog: (I wasn't kidding when I said almost everything)

In hindsight the leader selection method and natural map were perhaps not the best choices for a veterans game with hyper competitive personality types.

Unsubscribed Mack's thread. I have come to the conclusion that he actually doesn't like playing Civ, since every report he writes is about how unfair or unjust everything in life is. I was just thinking as I woke up how unfair it is that I have to get up and go to work this morning, when there are others who got a six food start and a second house by the time they turn 25. Life will be called within 60, 70 (annual) turns tops and I never had a chance to catch those guys because my start was slower. I might want a sub, life not worth playing if I never had a chance.

Agree, he complains more than I do (at least publicly) and that's saying something!

It's getting pretty hard for me to take mack seriously when he complains every single game and every other post while not being able to see things objectively.

I think a lot of these map problems arise from people not knowing what they really want from a game like this. They don't think through the implications when they suggest/vote for settings.

How can we avoid this in the future? First, ban Commodore from setting discussions. neenerneener
